I find small bikes cannot tahan cross winds as good as big bikes.

Found myself steering against the direction of the wind before, it was near Tuas area, the faster you go, the more apparent the crosswind.

if a bike bangs a mirror, runs away, can the car owner take action purely by knowing the bike number plate?

that's why insurance is so lame, most mirrors costs less than the $500 excess, car owner suffer lost.

2b bikes r getting bigger.

one example is roadwin, its as big as s4, class 2b 125cc.

no problem with cross wind, very stable at 120kph on nsh.

going around corners as stable as train on rail track.

few others r varadero, comet, roadwinR, ...... new comer ktm duke.

Just my observation.

Pros of big bike over small bike

Been riding a KR for 7 years, hated hard braking on it; small tyres + single disc brake = wobble. Changed to an R6 recently, under hard braking, the bike still stays straight without effort. It is also not as easy to enter fast corners on the KR, feels like the rider has to input more to keep the bike stable and smooth, maybe it's just me. But the R6 is very stable through corners. Acceleration is obvious here, no dropping of gears to overtake on lane 1, just a light twist of your wrist and you've overtaken the idiot in front, no need to drop gears and twist like mad.

Pros of small bike over big bike

Better turn radius, U turn on the R6 is like turning a lorry. -_- 'Crank course' turning is also slightly harder. No need to respect the throttle as much, choppy throttle control doesn't cause a slide and help you lose your balls. Easier to adjust lane position while cornering without good throttle control.

The only thing I miss about my KR is the fuel consumption and riding posture. But it was hell reliable, a good affordable workhorse. :D

the 2b ktm duke going for ard 15k if im not wrong..claims to have gd fuel consumption

actually, my friend bought his for only 9k. having seen the quality of the parts used and because its made in India, it definitely not a 15 k bike.

In my humble opinion and my personal view on this...

The size nor the cc of the bike has any effect on whether its safer to ride or not.

What really matters is the size of the brain and the ego of the rider.

You can ride like an idiot.. you will get yourself killed... regardless of whether its a big or small bike.

Just my 2 cents.

agree. It all comes down to judgement of the person controlling the bike.

i agreed with you on the braking..

but regarding the turning radius is all depends on bike.. my Class2 bike had better turning radius than my 2A and 2B bikes..

FC also depending on the bike..

like Uncle Raptor said, it's the rider, not the bike..

they r considered safer cos tires r wider = more traction = more control. engine cc. larger = more power = got danger wanna avoid jus open throttle n siam (same reason for the braking power)

live to ride, ride to live
