Am new to pillion riding and bikes in general. Would you recommend gloves for me? Find my grip a little loose at times especially when i get nervy at turns.

In any event of fall, anyone would invariably put out their hand to stop their fall. Hence, most of the time, your palm would be the 1st contact to the surface. Of course, this is bad as it could risk breaking your arm in the process.

However, having protection is better than none. So go ahead, get one and always emphasize on safety to your rider, do anything you can to minimize risk to yourself and the rider.

Kudos to you too as not many pillions would bother about this kind of stuffs. If possible, do inform your rider about safety issues and that passion of riding always goes along with worries from his/her loved ones. Would be even better if he/she join this forum to know more about safety issues.

Many brands to choose from. Dainese, RS Taichi, Alpinestars, Komine and many others. Fox gloves are pretty good too.

I'm a Tutor! Proud to be one!

yeah, Lexanez is v right. when we pillion others, their safety is our responsibility.

Komine and RS Taichi r value for money bro. get those with padding at the palm and knuckle guard.

Yup, best is for both rider and pillion to be adequately protected while travelling on a bike. But of course, our weather here is kind of sucky for full proper gear. Best bet is the mesh jacket which is much cooler.

Whatever it is, better to look like a drenched chicken than a mummy. Less pain too.

Ride safe.

Thanks for the tips everyone! Any good brands to recommend? I am currently armed with a good helmet and jacket :)

You can get full gear, cuz who knows, you might be a rider in time to come, instead of just being a pillion. Though its some investment, its good. Helmet no need to say cuz its a must anyway. Full face best. The order I would rate the importance of different gear is:

1. Jacket

2. Gloves

3. Boots

4. Pants

but its in our society having probs when pillion wears glove,

my gf rides as well, and when she pillions me, she still wears her gloves, and of course we get stares and frens even commented that we "siao on" or "garang"

same goes if a rider wears a FF helmet when riding a small bike, same reaction...

heck the comments as in an event of an accident the ones on the bike feels the pain not the ppl ard :thumb:

Was at Cash Converters Chinatown last night.

They sell those Fox riding gloves! For I think less then $10!

Though they are all XL sizes, I think it will do for Bicycling and Motorcycling for Pillions!

That's really cheap! Too bad they don't have sizes.

I think bicycle gloves work just fine for bikes also. I think it's less thick than the heavily padded ones and allows you to feel your fingers more when riding I feel.
