My friends and I had a close call encounter. Taking a short ride north almost turns into a horrible experience. For 7 years riding upwards, this is the very first encounter with day light robbery.

It happened while we were eating at some roadside warong in Bangi. A group of incoming suspicious-looking motorcyclists gave a hard look at our bikes and continued riding. Thinking they were just staring out of curiosity, we let our guard down. About 15 mins later, a van came along and park right behind our bikes by the roadside. The driver alighted, leaving the engine running, opened the backdoor and went in. We didnt take much notice, assuming the driver was running some errands. The owner of the warong came to us with a slip of paper written in malay, "Baek2 van tu. Bukan orang sini." Translated, "Beware of that van. He's not from this area." Immediately, we suit up and paced towards our bikes. While doing so, we saw the same group of motorcyclists heading towards us again. Knowing trouble was imminent, we quickly strap on our DIY 'knuckle dusters' and stood beside our bikes, staring at the oncoming convoy. They slowed down and gave a stared back before riding off. Some of us saw PVC and steel pipes they placed on the front basket of their bike. Once the convoy left a distance, one of my friends made payment for the food and another approached the van driver, who was still in the back of the van, and ask him politely if he could shift his vehicle to make some space for us to move off. He obliged and we sped off until we reached Darby Park Kuala Lumpur. While one of us settle the check in procedures, the one, who spoke to the van driver, told us that in his van, he saw lots of vehicle parts, rear shocks, suspensions, dampers, exhausts and some small electronic devices. We were lucky it was a close shaved. For hadn't the warning from the warong owner, it might had taken a different turn.

To all fellow riders, especially newbies, who frequently travel north and beyond, be extra prepared for real 'emergencies' and have contingency planning in place. Although I'm equipped with 7 years of experience riding high and far, I am never complacent about safety. Therefore, becareful while on the road and always prioritise safety. Just my humble 2 cents.

When dealing with these mat rempits, you have to be prepared to kill them because they will not hesitate to do so to you, of course, chances are they will outnumber you 5 to 1.

JB is vice heavy, best to go with friends or on foot if you're just going JB, any further, just use 2nd link and skip it altogether. If simply for petrol, in and out fast, the longer you stay, the more chance they get because they still need to seek out their victims and wait for the right time. The fastest JB run I did was 45 mins, from west side to JB, top up and back home huhu and this was on a 2B bike.

The last part i gotta agree with u bro...i ve been residing in jb for 8yrs now.

Nowadays i always c bikers bringing in their Gfs in super hot pants..late nite somemore.

Pls if u are reading this..DO NOT DO THAT..

Even fellow female bikers..

Inviting trouble is an understatement...

Also, try not to wear those expensive ARAi's thr in the nite..

$600=RM$1440(cost of arai)

its like having a BOUNTY on yourself....

CHeers and Stay SAFE...

I really want to emphasize this to help our fellow riders who think they can bring in kunckle duster objects beyond singapore, it's 3 months in jail for anyone, http://news.xin.msn.com/en/singapore/article.aspx?cp-documentid=4410692

Anybody have any idea how is DIY knuckle duster made?

I thought in the past when going as a group and stop for makan/break/rest at some open area, always got 1 or 2 friend staying there to look out for all bikes? Now no one practising this?
