entering a race is not just about winning.....think about it 30 years later....u will have stories to tell ur grandson.............i will do my best to enter.....

since its singaporeans only, better still, it will be more of fun than pressure.....

I fully agree with you on this one.

You only live once so guys, go for it.

u, neone, ehem, tiuster, chottoh and suzuki gang all can enter..............just to promote the sport.................since u guys will all be classified as novice(unlucky me), why worry?

thank you very much.. i think we have to get better lap timings b4 we join races..

a race is so much harder than the practice we get.. launching from start is one of the hardest things for us, and i havent even start talking about our lines, our braking points.. we are just not there yet. too many time-costing mistakes yet to be corrected.

for me, i just want to keep my 'novice' status for the time-being.. i dont want to put myself under a lot of pressure like u, having to race in the 'expert' class.

wait for dol to teach us more and attend a lesson from 5thRider as well. U also have taught me a little but havent been able to try it out due to still recovering. I'm not aiming to be expert before joining races but at the very least, i want to be competent b4 joining races.. race is a bit too big a word for us(me and yanani) with a little less than 10 track sessions(i actually have had 6 or 7 track sessions) under our belt.

i not saying this to u...but to everyone

just to share

before i went for my first race in mss, i was only doing 1.53 on my rvf in pg. thats the times average good regular riders in pg do. kamal is an exception.

first race in mss, then i knew how much faster i can be......which eventually led to better techniques and stunts which eventually brought my timing to 1.47.........

we are talking 6 seconds here

Don't worry about laptimes as yet.. Enjoy the riding first. Like I said, SMSA will organize a briefing for the new riders.. This will probably include at least things like basic lines, conservative brakng markers, bike preparation etc... We'll do our best to prepare you for any surprises so you don't start looking for help only on race day.

Everyone commits time costing mistakes and few riders IN THE WORLD ever feel they couldn't go faster than the previous lap or experience that "perfect lap", ZERO MISTAKES.

Less than 10 track sessions is not the problem, not having a specific target, be it laptimes, technique etc... during each practice is. There's still time till the start of the season. APRIL. I had less than 12 sessions before my 1st race in 2001.

Racing does not have to involve targeting "expert" class or whatever... You main focus should be being the best you can be, and only through racing will riders break new barriers easier and get into that so called "optimum" riding focus. Of course, winning is the main goal, but if you can't lead a race, you can't win one too and that's because the Speed is not in beating the other riders only. The Speed is within yourself, but it may take another competitor to help you break new ground.

If you want to race, just do it. Don't delay because of "slow times, mistakes, other riders out there faster, preserve novice status... etc" Because, while you are pondering, others are out there improving. ALL riders worry about the same things, and we are all still competing. Don't forget, no one is unbeatable and there is always someone faster, someday. Even world champions falter.

Wow... i admire you guys for your guts man! :clapping:

But my personal feeling is, a person going into competition at least has got to get their "basic" first.

I'm really still on a learning stage, think gotta take 5th Riders part2 lessons before i even try to take my first race.

Maybe, SMSA can create an 'over 2 minute' cat? kekeke
