No petrol = fine $100?

I got caught in kpe when i was riding halfway and i got no petrol, i pull off to the road shoulder.

 

After that emas recovery came and i told them i no petrol. They called LTA and the LTA guy came down. After that LTA say they will issue a fine to me $100.

 

I find it damn unreasonable as i am riding a phantom ta150 with no fuel gauge and i was rushing for time. I basically didn't know i not enough petrol for the trip.

 

Do you know how to appeal to this? They didn't open my fuel cap and check for fuel... or take photos

Can claim that petrol stolen. My Phantom also kena stolen before, ran out of petrol, didn't know it was stolen, turned on reserve, 3km later stranded when about to enter lentor. Pushed all the way back to petrol kiosk.

Ya happened to my friend b4... lucky that time emas was nice... say run out is offence... say "breakdown la bike breakdown ok??"

Lucky, one time my bike also ran out. I was like carrying my tin can when these 2 TP stop and ask me where I am going. I said going to petrol station. But they said cannot . must stay with bike and call for help . i said phone battery dying no much juice. gave me $40 fine. then call emas for me. wonder why TP fine $40 while LTA $100?

Can try appeal by telling them whatever reasons or excuses u have in mind, but be prepared to pay the fine if it fails. Anyway no harm trying. Just be more mindful in future before u start your journeys. Telling anyone u ran out of fuel are not acceptable since there are some many petrol kiosks around, unless due to fuel leaking. U wasted more time & money in the end.

Say bike breakdown is best. If they ask why breakdown say how u know? If u know can be mechanic already.

take it as a lesson learnt.. next time say bike broke down, EMAS will just tow your bike to the nearest exit..

 

you can try to appeal.. for your efforts they maybe able to reduce the fine..

 

i ran out of petrol before, fortunately most of the time is near exit plus down slope..

I suppose the emas wanna let me get fined. Both of them knew that no petrol = fine. After I got on to their truck they told me. In tunnel no petrol = fine. Expressway no fine that's what they told me!

there was once my rear wheel bearing screwed up.

Being new, I was scared like hell. Loud "thunking" sounds from the rear wheel.

 

So i pulled over on AYE, and called EMAS.

I specifically told them it's a bike (4 times) so they say ok, will be at my location in 5 mins. At first, I thought: "wah, at least my tax payment works a little".

Then they came 50 mins later, with a tow truck for cars. WTF.

 

Conversation between that dude and me:

 

Dude: Wah, nice bike, powerful or not? (knn, the numbers 125 so big still ask)

Me: Ya man, very very powerful

Dude: Oh, bike so powerful also no use.. now also cannot move, haha. (i was seething already)

Me: Why did you come with a tow truck for cars? i told the operator mine's a bike, told him 4 times!

Dude: Eh, no leh. They never say what vehicle, so we assume is car lor.

Me: Then how? Like that i need to wait for the correct tow truck?

Dude: What happened to your bike? No petrol ah? No petrol is an offence leh, you know?

Me: No la, my bike rear wheel got loud sound.

Dude: Show me. (so i replicated the sound to him)

Dude: Aiyah, still can ride la, wont die one. Anyway, our tow truck also cannot tow your bike.

Me: If i fall down how? Can I can tell insurance that EMAS tell me can ride and wont die?

Dude: Eh, not like that say, I think you can ride because our vehicle cannot tow your bike. (till now, I cannot understand this sentence)

Me: ok, don't need to say anymore.

 

So i slowly pushed my bike around 500m to the next exit, left it at Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim Esso and then went home on my friend's Harley. By the time i'm done with all the nonsense, 4am already.

 

The conversation really made me damn dulan. People already sian, tired amd dunno what thing spoil, and can need to hear bird word!

 

Even though my issue is small, also can tell me nicely that you screwed up by sending the wrong truck, and properly explain to me la.. I really hope our taxpayer's money can be partly used to send them for some PR courses.

brader, emas towing is only one vehicle type. the will actually use the same vehicle to tow cars to tow your bike. They will harness and secure your bike behind the lorry. The only thing I can think why they say cannot tow is because they lazy...
