the top 2 high end brands would be arai and shoei, of this 2, comments from people wearing are that arai tends to be more noisy than arai, but arai has better ventilation and is lighter

good ventilation = lots of wind noise.

poor ventilation = quiet

:sian: i don't agree that...

my HJC fullface is quiter then my nolan N101e

infact the HJC ventilation is much more better then my nolan.. :giddy:

more important fact...

i brought my nolan N101E at 200bucks...

i brought my HJC fullface at MAH open house at 60bucks...

expensive = better or best?

i don't think so...

Nova with mercury visor....

Jokes aside, I have a Shoei X-11 and a HJC AC-10... Btw these 2, the Shoei has the minimal noise when I'm going at breakneck speed. Still haven had a chance to try a Arai.

arai ventilation good..

but noisy...

wonder if it's true..

the better the ventilation, the more noise it will penetrate

Get the Schuberth C2 if its within budget.. Very silent for flip ups... 86dB at 100km/hr

Schuberth J1 for open face, never own a J1 but reviews state its suprisingly silent for open face.. rated 92dB at 100km/hr on no fairing bike i tink quieter than most full face..

Their full face dont say ah, Schuberth S1 is 85dB at 100km/hr

i own a C1, pretty quiet with collarless T-shirt or jacket.. If got collar, the turbulance caused by the collar make it very noisy! hahahah.. changing to C2 some time this yr..

Helmet FAQ:

http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycle-helmets/motorcycle-helmet-faq.htm

Price wise, yah lah Schuberth ex.. C2 is $750 if not wrong at Chiap Lee.. But i tink u cant go wrong with a company that makes helmet for most F1 teams including Team Ferarri, Industrial safety helmet and firefighting helmet.. The company only specialise in Helmets, its German, they use to make helmets for BMW motorcycle.. If u ever watch Discovery Channels "How they do it" , it featured Schuberth in one of the show. Then you would realise the price u paid for is worth it... Instead of assembly line type of manufacturing, one engineer is assigned to one helmet from start to finish...

Wearing noisy helmets may lead to (partial) hearing loss in the long term.

how about just get the helmet that you like, and then spend a few bucks on a pair of earplugs...

I'm a cantankerous lugubrious weirdo. Enraptured by stone walls. Demented by love. Disparaged by my own soul. Besieged by languor. Suffered from acute distress triggered by terminal boredom and elucidation of rhodonderons and deciduous seedlings. Searched for serenity amidst the chaos but failed miserably.

correction , its permanent. NID (Noise Induced Deafness) is permanent.

Quoted from this helmet review site:-

Most riders don't realize that helmets are usually quieter on an unfaired bike, but it's true. Unless you're sitting completely behind a big, honkin' windshield, chances are you're going to have your eardrums bombarded by wind noise and turbulence.

By the way, we always wear earplugs when riding. See the wBW Earplugs and Hearing Protection page for more information on choosing and fitting earplugs. Don't ride without them - ever - or you'll regret it! Remember that hearing is precious and hearing loss is permanent.

John 15:7 (New International Version)

-- it's true & it really works for me. :)
