[Newbie] Tips/Guide to look out for when buying used bike?

Hi bros here,

 

I'm new to this forum. Just passed my 2B few days ago. Now looking for used bike. I am actually looking to buy Honda SP but don't know which one is good to buy.

 

Any bros here care to share some tips? On what to look out or check for when viewing a Honda SP to consider it safe to buy.

Nobody I knew rides bike. Thus, I can only look for bikes myself.

few areas u can look at :

 

keyhole - key operated areas?

electrics - headlamp? signals? horn? brake lamp?

brakes - brake hose, leak? brake disc, within service limit?

suspension - fork seal? suspension not progressive ? bend suspension fork?

tires - thread life? uneven wear? sign of puncture?

engine - abnormal sound, knocking? sign of leakage especially around engine case mating areas. Watch out for coolant leak around pump & hose area.

chassis - new paintwork? crack? improper fitting?

chain & sprocket - elongated? badly worn sprocket?

Probably you will only know about the condition of the bike only after a few days ride. If getting from direct owner, insist on personal warranty for a few days. Luck also play an important roll.
