Every step is progress and try to make the effort to walk to places where it's like a goal achieved. I really think that it's not easy but must try to make the effort to be mobile again. Yes, appointments are hard to fix especially at hospitals. Keep on trying at it so that you can get better please.

As Jane said, when you get better... come out... ask your hubby to carry your crutches and help you along.. :)

Singapore Bikes... meeting newbies who have no 2B.... :D at least not yet... lol..

sure.. would definitely wanna meet u all 1 day.. especially with my bike.. hahaha.. nowadays i really just trying at home.. putting weight on the leg so that it get used to it as well as building the muscle oso.. since the physio is so far away so i only google n try some methods that ppl put online for injured knees haha

one thing i realized now that i have been riding on my own for a few weeks - i can do a left u-turn more comfortably than a right u-turn 😅

i put it down to the countless sessions at the S-course station, where the end of the S-course is essentially a left u-turn.

i'm quite nervous when doing a normal u-turn out on the roads, with traffic behind me. I realized a car can u-turn much quicker than a bike lol. Or i simply need more practice.

ohh.. i was thinking since when theres a left u turn cos mostly is right u turns.. anyway it is cos when on bike, we fall alot easier.. speed too fast, wide turn n chances of falling is high.. speed too slow, kena bang by car also not good.. lane position also plays a part too.. i was so scare about the u turns cos i fail 1 of my lesson 8 at the u turn point where my right leg comes down.. now that we all are licensed rider, right leg on the floor it is 😂

hope your lesson went well?

riding bicycle while very different from handling a motorbike is still quite useful. Helps train motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Perhaps it'll be good to ride the bicycle more in-between motorbike lessons?

sim - no need helmet. I've seen an angmoh do it in berms n t-shirt but he was the odd one out. Most wear long pants and proper shoes. No need to wear guards. Remember to rev the sim bike like crazy to move off.. otherwise it will stall. Very different from the real bike we use for lessons.

By my standards, the lesson went okay 😂 I only screamed twice! Once the first time I went down the slope and once, the first time I went into the crank course 😂 AND I didn't drop the bike once. Also, I managed to go through a few rounds of figure of 8 and crank course smoothly. But still fail lah cos I didn't meet the timing 🤭 whatever.

it's a huge improvement already!

i believe the bicycle riding helped... I could turn my bike more easily today... like turn the handlebars. Makes me wonder how I tried to turn the bike last time!

hopefully the next time I go for this lesson, I'll be more confident and go faster to meet the timing. I'm really glad I can go into the course without my heart leaping out of my throat... though I did feel quite sick before I started (nervous sick).

my hb forfeited the lesson. He said he still can't lift his work bag with the left hand and it hurts to type. He doesn't think it's worth the strain and further injury. He'll probably go see a Dr on Monday. He's been dropping stuff too - like a coffee can, which landed on his toe and left a bruise on it.

hmm car u-turn. Actually my car's turning radius is terrible so I can't turn very fast (CG also high). But I know that it doesn't matter fast or slow... the other motorists will wait lah. I've been behind really slow cars/trucks and also just wait

i scream when i bang kerb or when i fall off the plank oso.. haha sometimes with cursing too 😂 once u stop dropping the bike then u more or less noes how to control already.. ur muscle memory will aid u in future lessons.. haha.. to pass within timing, remember to maintain throttle when u go into gear 2.. u can control with the clutch to cut off the engine power or tap on the brakes if u think u're going too fast.. n u need to lean.. more mi i will put my weight on the handle bar on the side im turning so that it goes the direction i wan.. n then just look forward of where u're going then u will be able to make it within the time..

ouch.. seems like a very bad twist to the wrist.. i think its better to go see a tcm tomorrow instead.. dun wait already..

okay, lean on handlebar to where I want it to turn. Clutch in (as in free wheeling?). I must be more daring w my throttle. The instructor said their petrol only $1/L, feel free to throttle 😂 (at first I asked if he's telling me that so I can go pump petrol there 😂)

he already saw, that evening and a few more times. His dad is a tcm Dr who does acupuncture. At first he could've even turn his forearm!

now he has that range of movement but there's pain and weakness.

my fil acupuncture my knee a few times also... then okay liao. He also got rid of my lock jaw (developed when I was pregnant w my second child...) then he treated it when I was pregnant w my 3rd... 4th child didn't have that problem anymore..

ya.. u can clutch in at gear 2 de.. as long as u dun fall below the speed, unlikely ur engine will stall.. if u think the speed at gear 2 is ok then u dun have to clutch in.. just maintain throttle n lean

ohh.. tts nice to have a tcm dad.. so the acupuncture has helped quite a bit.. think for now just need to let it heal internally..

your hb hand injury - how long ago did he fall? any discoloration or swelling? Better to get a medical professional to look at it soon.

left u-turn - in circuit but nowadays i practice fig-of-8 and other slow speed stuff in empty lvl of MSCP. Got pillars to mark out the course lol. Or some other large open empty carpark. Quite useful when maneuvering in tight spaces like carpark, petrol station, industrial area etc. The circuit s-course n crank course stations are really helpful and applicable in day-to-day usage.

i need to relearn the cornering speeds of bike vs car... feels so different especially when new.

for s-course, also remember to grip the tank with your knees and keep looking at a point about 3-4 bike lengths ahead of the bike. Somewhat counterintuitively, it's easier to turn and lean the bike when going at an appropriate speed. If speed too low, the bike will feel like it will fall to the side. If speed is sufficient, it'll lean smoothly for the bend and straighten upright for the transition.  Perhaps practice fig-of-8 at home on bicycle 😊

I was very impressed by one instructor that demonstrated it to us 3 times in a row. His movements all very smooth but what was more amazing is his timings were very consistent - all 3 were 9.5sec but he didn't seem rushed at all.

i've also seen instructors pillion students for s-course to let them feel the "correct" speed and leaning movement. Seems to work for those i saw.

Ya... the instructors can go on and on in the course like no big deal... while talking, while pointing out what the other hand needs to do etc 😂

Take time to recover and then yes, build those muscles for functional use. Yes, will be great to meet you on your MSX and your hubby's Duke. It's going to be a long time if I'm going to meet you both on a bike as I need to get the license.. :D

Still a long way to go, but this time, am trying to get the theory part out of the way....

Yes, find those physio, but not by those "tick tock" sort of content creators... :D

Hope your husband's hand will be ok, bikes are heavy and yes, can strain our limbs. Hope he recovers with acu-therapy and rest.

Hope that he and yourself can continue lessons and reach our goal of joining this fraternity of bikers. I think having 4 kids is harder than bikes! :D

Thank you for your well wishes 😊. He'll see a Dr tmr to see what's wrong with his wrist. Meanwhile, he will get some acupuncture done when we visit my in laws later 😂

I'll continue to try lah but sometimes I wonder why... since I obviously have not affinity to this. I do find the challenge fun! It's a different skill set from raising kids... my skill level is about the same for both.

jiayou for ur theory! Have u booked the test? Ours is on Saturday! (Not sure I remember anything at this point) I'll be doing my Sim sessions on Friday.

Good that you ride a Yamaha, will check in with you for Yamaha related purchase if interested as you could probably tell if a bike "sounds" or looks weird in anyway... Yes, I agree that there must be a sweet spot of spending on a bike.. :) The MT class 2A series do look really good... that's just my limited opinion (limited as experience on bikes = zero) :D

No worries.. anything I can help, I'll definitely help out.. :)

@adesmond2 oh shoot!! I missed that you had Covid; hope you get well soon, and yes, that is a real possibility for all of us.

@Nakuru monitor the fever and if it gets any worst; go to A&E, don't wait for last minute when things become more serious. If the pus drains and fever subside, should be getting better I hope.

On the MSX, that is why, would probably look at the Duke or MT-15, if the learning centre bikes is "okay" for me, I guess these might be "okay" for a first bike, but if going for "pre-owned", need to have someone experienced view the machine with yours truly... if the depreciation don't mix sense... buy new... though for 2B vs 2A, the latter tend to offer more value when new... just my own opinion when doing the math...

yeah.. just recovered.. LOL.. else no strength to even on my computer.. neck pain here pain everywhere pain.. breath also pain.. =.=

the situation is definitely tough and depressing. Can you go out? Wanna meet up? We can just meet a short while in the mornings (when the kids are in school)... I can go to where you are/pick you up. it'll be short since I need to get back to pick my kids up (and I have a feeling you're quite far from me) 😂

Anyways... we have a lesson tonight. Hahahahah. Lesson 3. Haven't progressed at all!

i realise that I'm fearful of making "tight" turns even on the bicycle. I see a drain I panic.

my hb dropped his bike while doing figure of 8 during the previous lesson and until now his wrist is still hurt - I've been driving cos it hurts him to drive and he's been dropping things.

we'll still go for the lesson, but he said if he feels he can't do it, he'll just sit it out and wait for me.

will be going for simulator sessions next week. Do I just need a helmet and covered shoes? Long trousers and guards don't need?

tight turns will be alot more when on the road.. especially when we wan to cut to the front.. 🤪

I haven start the physio yet.. doc says i can start physio since last check up but stupidly the physio appt is in oct lol..

When i feel mentally ok i will like walk with the clutches n putting min weight on my left leg.. but only from like toilet to bed which is like 1m? Hahaha

My thigh used tp be very sunken on the top n very flat but husb say it has been growing back n looking more like how it shld be.. i dunno.. to mi still looks sunken lol

I actually think i can go back driving already but the thoughts of having to crutch all the way to my house's mscp is gonna be a torture 😂

Haha no worries la.. we can meet up when my legs r better.. now my wounds cannot expose to sun so i have to take a long time prepping to leave house etc.. i stay in punggol btw haha

Ya it happens.. especially when we get older, the fear limit just keeps increasing for everything 😂 tight turns are really pretty scary at the start but once u did it a few times then it will come naturally

Oh no.. need to rub ointment on his wrist.. hope he recovers soon..

For sim, no need helmet.. can wear gloves if u wan.. i wore cos i ocd about the people b4 me.. 😂 need long pants.. guards no need

come downstairs your house can? or still cannot? your house (walkable distance got kopitiam?)

it's been too long... Zoo - river safari seems like a better choice.. or USS.. lastly.. can consider Punggol container there.. got one uncle ringo open thru the weekends.. but very small la.. will last you about 30-60 min if you take all the rides.. (wonder if it's still opened)

😂 for younger kids... yes... there was a stage they like to feed the birds.

USS more suitable for older kids lah... there's only that many times I'll be willing to sit on the Elmo ride 😂

thankfully my younger children all quite deprived so... even playground downstairs is a treat 😜

ah i cheated...

i drove up from SG in my car 3 times before covid. Did the loop all 3 times as part of my north thai exploration.

in Feb this year, can't drive through the borders so i flew up to Chiang Mai, took a 2 day clutch bike course at Honda there and rented a very new Aerox for a month to go around North Thai. Very different experience from driving a car.

Zoo - river safari seems like a better choice.. or USS.. lastly.. can consider Punggol container there.. got one uncle ringo open thru the weekends.. but very small la.. will last you about 30-60 min if you take all the rides.. (wonder if it's still opened

Uncle Ringo was on the news quite recently. Seems like govt taking back the land for development so he is packing up again.

99 bends is the correct name for South Buona Vista road 😄

ah i cheated...

i drove up from SG in my car 3 times before covid. Did the loop all 3 times as part of my north thai exploration.

in Feb this year, can't drive through the borders so i flew up to Chiang Mai, took a 2 day clutch bike course at Honda there and rented a very new Aerox for a month to go around North Thai. Very different experience from driving a car.

indeed.. that's the officially name..

ICIC... ok la.. at least you went thru 3 times...

nice nice...

I don't go playground cos hot Hahahhaha but okay lah now I just leave them there and go to a shady area to wait. Or bring the bicycle down to practice so it isn't so bad 😜

Has the bird park finally closed? It's suppose to move to mandai right?

when I lived in sengkang, I used to bring my oldest to zoo at least once a week. Okay lah he also doesn't remember... now I just don't bother. They're not gonna remember anyway 😜

just recovered.. 😂

yeah.. just recovered.. LOL.. else no strength to even on my computer.. neck pain here pain everywhere pain.. breath also pain.. =.=

Thanks much... I mean Yamaha may not be the most powerful bike... but it looks like it is reliable and the slipper clutch is a selling point..

Great to hear that you have recovered on the C... it's really something that keeps dogging most people.. here in Thailand, the local still mask up a lot.. can't imagine wearing mask like last time now...

I think that being on a bike is a joy as well as a skill to have. :)

Oh, for the theory, have not booked the test yet as I need to go for the evaluation. I have to practice before that, clear the evaluation and then the theory test. I've been really quite lax about it which is not a good thing as most of the riders that passed, told me to clear that as soon as possible and not delay. The center though, said to only try to book it when clearing 4.XX. I'm trying to go for the computer practice before going for the evaluation and then for the actual test itself. :)

In Phuket... saw this and this is for @Nakuru

I noticed that the bikes don't go on the right lane very often.

Even in heavy traffic... most go to the right lane only when making a u-turn. :)

Then again, not many class 2A and above bikes here. The common ones are Click, PCX... see the odd grom here and there, but not many larger CC bikes.
