You take your time and get well, @Janeoh and myself still learning and at the rate I am going, I think you can run... :D

As long you can walk, we can go to your area...

I did four theory but only 1 Simulation... I do not look forward to the other 2... worried I would get sick....

Plank... once the RC is granted, I will keep on practicing on the plank.... Just want to get it really right...

Have to still clear evaluation; next week... then can book TP RT...

Now rushing to clear all the theory stuff... :D

Haha highly doubt i will run but can walk can already..

I can actually go to other places la.. i got car n husb drive ma.. my only concern was having a clean toilet but now tt i can at least limp walk, im not limited to a handicap toilet anymore.. just that every i stand up or put my leg down, its like a hourglass counting down.. my leg be like "clock's ticking~ better make it quick on wat u wanna do 😏" hahaha

I think it was just u too tired yesterday which could also cause the motion sickness ba.. hopefully the other 2 is fine for u

For lesson 5, BBDC has

5.01 - pillion riding on circuit and test route familiarization

5.02 - internal evaluation on circuit

pillion very scary for both the rider and pillion 😅

i understand that during covid, they stopped pillion riding so 5.01 was simply more circuit practice

Fortunately ssdc no have pillion riding.. else i dun think i will pass my lesson.. ssdc's circuit familiarization is on lesson 4.. 5 is purely test n will need to take together with almost 20 other students + RC students if any.. can be very messy when all is riding tgt.. not to mention theres also cars and clas 2A/2 bikes going around oso

i was initially hesitant abt taking class 2B due to an old injury on my left knee which still has some pain and weakness), especially since the school standard here is to raise the side stand before mounting the bike from the left.

outside of BBDC, i do it with side stand down 😄 but with my foot on the floor, not stepping up from footpeg.

i've also seen people go up while bike is on main stand and rock it till it comes down. But this is with foot on footpeg

that being said, i think it's better to play safe as you said. Wait a bit, till you regain strength and range of motion on the afflicted knee/leg before attempting riding. Meantime can rewatch Long Way Round/Down/Up as well as biker youtubers (itchy boots/onherbike) while you recuperate  😊

Maybe u need to eat supplements on ur knee.. u can try see if u can find this supplement call piascladine or try taking UCII joint supplement.. i heard they help with knee pain..

I probably will take a photo of mi sitting on my bike later as memory sake thou.. hahaha..

Lesson 5 is pretty standardized throughout all 3 schools.. which is the circuit test / evaluation b4 u all go on the road.. 18 points for circuit only.. easy easy..

Yea.. im trying to walk more also so that i can slowly extend the time that i can stand.. 😁 only problem now is my knee is jammed at 90degree.. trying hard to bend beyond..

Aiyoh! How to walk like that?

18 points for the circuit? My hb was telling me between 11-13 sec figure of 8 is 4 points 😂

fall off point immediate failure? Haha

shall do this like I study for exam. See where I have to deduct points

Hi @shiba2b, I only did one simulator session as I could only book one then... and thankfully! I was really green in the face and would have likely cancelled if there were any consecutive ones.. *yes weak on motion sickness but ironically, I've no sea sickness so far.

Yup; on the finger nail trick, it was told by one of the instructors in the room; works!

I can understand what you mean on the simulator sessions... not the most comfortable of view... and I don't do well in front of those screens... looping back to being sick.. LOL

Actually I get sea sick 😂 but I think I slept enough so wasn't affect on simulator. Was told not to eat before so I didn't eat 😂

hb also gets motion sickness and sea sick, but he was okay for this one. Just said it's stupid 😂 he said after a while, he didn't even bother to change gear. 😂

😂 can lah... do you know when is the current RTT date? For cdc it's now 12 Nov. I remember we waited more than a month between evaluation and RTT also.

the current practical test date is 23 Nov (since I was checking RTT 😂)

4.01 and dropped bike (first time and embarrassed)

The training was the S course and the crank course. The S course is like a "mini circuit" within the virtual world of the the course in BBDC. It's like a mini track and the aim is to complete the S course within a time of 11 seconds. The crank course is really shaped like a crank and the time to clear is 6 seconds or so (can't remember at the moment)...

During the journey from East to West.... was praying that it wouldn't rain as I was wearing my running sneakers which I hope wouldn't get wet and personally, am not a fan to wear a rain coat.

Reached BBDC on time and don on the vest to wait for the lesson to start.

Was told to select a bike and move off to the start line. At the start line, got to speak to a RC candidate and he was even more senior than me in age! I salute him and it's nice speaking to other students as we all come from different backgrounds and ages. So, it was a nice experience chatting while we were side by side on the bike.

Went to do a short warm up and then reached the S-course area. The instructor was nice to show us the demonstration if the S-course is clear, and if there is car at the end of the S-course. The way was to signal left (the entry), check blind spot on the left and then approach the entry of the S-course and then engage 2nd gear by the time one enters the S-course. Once in, one has to navigate and clear the S-course. Once out of the S-course; there is a line to wait at the crank course.

At the crank course; signal right; check right and then go into second gear; and make it out of there below 7 seconds or so I think.

The S-course was pretty "okay" and didn't meet the timing the first time but gradually got better at it. Had an issue with the crank course on three occasions. One was hitting neutral when inside the course, the second was looking at the kerb and meeting the fate, I'll fast forward to the last and most embarassing moment; in order not to kick into "N", I double kicked and it went into 3rd... Not a good idea... the bike died and hard stop, dropping the bike (first time I've dropped a bike in my life) and the foot rest on the right met its demise... *rewind 4 rounds earlier.

Noticed that the bike's gear engagement was quite difficult to engaged and sometimes once in "N", it was hard to get out of it.... Still, it's the rider... my instructor could feel where the issue was and still manage to change gears well, the technique was to clutch in and change gear simultaneously... so it's the rider and not the hardware..

The crank course was "okay" when managed to engage the 2nd gear and was told by the instructor, only thing to note is to "kill the signal". Still the drop bike moment was a darn humbling experience and felt like a total idiot..

During the time where I tried changing gear (neither at the S-course nor the crank course), at the traffic light left turn, cornered a little lower and then changed gear... this happened to my running sneakers... ripped the tip of the sneaker... thankfully it was just a bit but it happened twice and have to be mindful how I position my feet when I corner..  "so kids... when you ride a bike.. don't wear slippers".. :D (See below: made an edit to show the photos; could not edit earlier)

IMG_8797.thumb.jpg.256053ec360eef2957532201b42d2ef0.jpg

At the end of the lesson... there was a lot of apprehension as the "bike drop" incident made me think all the previous good rounds were going to be gone to waste... in the end, was thankfully granted to go to 4.02...

Simulation....
waited outside the room on the second floor and went in at 11:50am (waited about 30 minutes from the end of the theory practice session) and the simulation training looked high tech.

The bike simulator was on a "real" bike - Honda and the bike looked "big" of course it was not a functioning bike and it was situated behind three large screens. First, participants were to key in their IDs onto the touchscreen computer and get on the bike. The simulation portrays real life situations on the road.... now that's where my problem come in.... I don't play FPG (First Person Games) as it gives me a headache. This simulation game did the same thing, and after my heavy lack of sleep day before... I felt giddy and nauseated... was holding it in and just trying to last the session... after the session... felt really sick and told the instructor who was really kind. He advised to tell the instructors for the next 2 simulator sessions so that they can do a setting to help my motion sickness.

The feeling lasted the rest of the day and when I made my way home, I took the left most lane traveling about 70km/h on the express way.  Not to help matters.. the skies opened up and the road conditions didn't help... was just holding it in and when I reached home... took a shower and went to bed.. didn't even have lunch as was totally 🤢 .... Got up later in the afternoon and felt better enough.... Simulators sure stimulated my motion sickness.. 😐

Just sharing but overall a good experience on the theory practice... :)

Just dun get too close to the screen.. nauseated is perfectly normal during simulation...

1) the screen

2) the motion vs your motion

3) the laggy "screen/video/graphic"

4) if you watch those movies on the "move" aka taken with their mobile phone.. That's even worse.. I walk out of the cinema immediately... LOL...

another way to counter it is not to look at the screen 100%.. maybe 80-90% max.. move your head and body away from the screen.. then not so bad..

Rather than risking breaking my leg or dropping the bike, i choose to play safe la.. anyway i shld be walking normally by nov already.. so just 1 more month only.. i will work harder on getting my leg back to normal.. 🥲

LOL.. nah.. not a must for you to follow.. just something that I felt when I could not walk.. and surprisingly.. after a few rides.. I dun feel pain "while riding"... But once both my foot back to normal grounds.. jelly again.. =.='''

Can.. Nov.. meet up real soon again.. 😛;)

i still hv the demerit point checklist for circuit and road. I think should be same for all 3 schools as it's set by TP. If you wish, i can send it to you.

but i think for actual test, they anyhow give points one. Can't preplan and allocate 😅

with my old leg injury, i had a strange issue with sitting in a go-kart. After 10 min in it, when i try to get out of the kart, the left knee would be frozen in place for about 10min. Can't straighten. I wondered if it was due to poor blood circulation in the cramped seating position.

As long as u keep urself on the plank, even if u close throttle u shld still be able to roll across the plank..

Their booklet got the checklist so they can refer there.. i also agree for actual test they anyhow 1.. i sompa checked all blindspots n i clearly rmb i nv roll back for slope but they still gave mi points for them. 😕

I think its due to cramp position n oso u use a lot of force to counter the centrifugal force of the kart too.. so muscle become stiffen.. i guess? I dun have such issue cos my leg is almost straighten in the go kart. I leg short 😂😂😂

I think its due to cramp position n oso u use a lot of force to counter the centrifugal force of the kart too.. so muscle become stiffen.. i guess? I dun have such issue cos my leg is almost straighten in the go kart. I leg short 😂😂😂

oh got booklet at CDC/SSDC? I didn't get it at BBDC but we got the A4 size checklist (i.e. result slip) after the internal evaluations and TP test.

😄 ya some karts quite cramped for me.

flooded with fuel or rain water? 😧

plank - gotta maintain some rev, use clutch + rear brake to control speed. If completely off throttle, it's easy to lose balance. Look ahead and grip tank tightly with legs. Start with trying to stay on plank, don't care the timing. Once build up some confidence, then incorporate the rear brake + clutch to control speed and get the timing

Nakuru has posted the demerit points so i won't.

Seriously... I'm not even bothered with timing right now 😂 im just trying to zoom through and still cmi 😂

cos I have the bad habit of clutching in and turning off the throttle, the instructor told me to just take my hand off the clutch first 😂 it's very bad....

And now, I actually say aloud while going on the plank "hold the throttle, hold the throttle..."

but the problem is actually, moving off 😂 I veer/wobble etc so 50% of the time I miss it completely!

Y take hands off the clutch? U're supposed half clutch oso wat?

Kiap the tank tight.. u kiap it tight then will wobble lesser.. the plank is actually quite wide de.. n dun look at the floor.. look at where u r going.. i stare at the plank when im on it de.. nthing else but the plank

Cos I have a super bad habit of clutching in the moment I make it up the plank or anytime I'm scared hahahahah. So he's like okay, don't think about the clutch

i think it's to help concentrate/focus on learning to keep throttle open with right hand first, before using left hand and right leg too

Dun worry about dropping the school's bike.. u've paid to drop it.. they are trashed bike anyway.. if u dun drop the school bike u're not utilizing the sch fees well 😂 n u would rather drop the sch bike during practice than dropping ur personal bike after u pass..

Honestly... I heart pain to drop any bike.. I like to take care of machinery no matter what.. from keyboards to simple things like mice... don't like to abuse them.. people in my trade break them at work... 😐 I'm a softy...

Just endure...

but i think for actual test, they anyhow give points one.

I don't even dare think that far... just going from one session to the other... Don't want to get too excited to rush for the finish without being competent .... just have to look where I want to go and constant throttle of effort.. :D

Then seriously all I need to aim for is to get across the plank 😂

my reflex after getting on the plank is to close throttle 😂 then I roll off.

Really slowly slowly...

You can do it...  we just have to practice... I sure went for enough (hahahah with the repeats :) - We must enjoy the time we are on the bike )

Hahahaha yes. The slower folks (like me) cannot multitask so well 😂 I seriously always clutch in and close throttle 😂
