hi, just wanna know anyone here registered for the biometric identification?

 

just went to register for it when i went jb for petrol run. heard about it from a friend, but then only 2nd link has it. found out from the officer at woodlands that it will kick in fully next month in woodlands (currently works only during peak hours at woodlands)

 

if you have registered for it, have you tried it out when going across the border to m'sia?

come share your view and/or experience here.

btw, registration is FOC now... only need to queue. opening hours of the registration booth is 10am-5pm on weekdays. can't remember if they are open on weekends.

The other day I was at 2nd link. There was a sign pasted at the booth saying : Biometric identification registration 10am-5pm, limited to 100 applications per day), something like that. So I asked the officer at the customs where I could register for the Biometric identification, he pointed me to the office (where you can top up your cash card).

 

So I parked my bike, walked over to the office, and they pointed me to the Singapore Customs office to the right (Where if you forgot your passport or smuggle stuff, you go there to make a report etc etc).

 

They had no idea either, and asked me to go to ICA building at Lavender road....

 

So whats the sign at the customs booth for? Where do we actually sign up?

I just got my biometric passport done at ICA building. Don't know if its the same thing, but this new biometric passport is COMPULSORY for entry into the US.

 

I didn't have this yesterday morning when i was at the airport.. and that was bad.

well, basically it's a DIY scanning of passport when u exit or enter singapore. if you realize there had been some construction going on at the woodlands causeway some time back. i guess those are for this.

 

with the biometric thingy, u will do the scanning of ur passport by urself, and u will also need to scan ur thumb print. guess it is to cut down on the number of man power at the custom

 

to register, i went to a small room near block D at woodlands causeway (somewhere after the custom clearance before you exit the last barricade)

my gf has it.. well, its much faster honestly..its 60 bux at ICA..its like a card..u insert tat card and then scan ur fingerprint

eh ... the other time i never register leh ... but still can use .... use my old passport to scan then scan the thumbprint ....

So you must change your passport to the biometric one?

you cant just register with the old passport?

this i'm not too sure... but i guess your passport is expiring soon? then you will be issued the new passport ba. heard if you register for the biometric thing now and if you change your passport later, you'll need to re-register for the biometric. so better for you to renew passport then go and register for the biometric thing.

scanned my passport then walk a few steps then press thumb down on the fingerprint recognition device.

 

the procedure sounds e same as per tuas fingerprint clearance.

 

maybe find 1 day go try when super non peak period.

how to register if i work monday to friday 8am to 6 pm?

ya, it's the same procedure... now they are gonna implement it at woodlands check point...

they'll give u a new passport or u have to renew wif costs?

There is a sign at Tuas checkpoint stating the last day of the B.I.K.E.S. trial was on the 30th.

 

This happened to be today. Crap...missed my chance to register

yup yup... according to the officers, you'll have to queue at the normal gantry if you have a pillion with you, even if both of you have registered for BIKES
