must know the whole mantra den makes more sense

1) dont think

2) dont worry

3) dont bother

4) just buy

5) just order

6) only worry after buying

7) if after buying dont like then sell cheap cheap / exchange

let someone else benefit from it, cant win all the time ya...:thumb:

"it's your money, buy as long as you are happy, dont worry what people comment..."

and after getting the bike,

1) worry less, ride more

2) buy less, ride more

3) complain less, ride more

4) HUAT ARRR, ride more

thanks 4 the advice.... but i'm still unsure at wat mileage shud i do the 1st oil change?

bro...my suggestion is read the manual before u collect the bike..can download the manual via yamaha webbie. think the uk or europe site has downloadble manual (at least thats where i downloaded mine).

will get to know the basics of the bike...

running in varies as there is various school of thought.

Preload is adjusted on both forks.

Rebound is done on the Right fork, and Compression is done on the Left Fork.

Picture speaks a thousand words :) (Sorry for poor quality images... no scanner at home) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3145/2295686829_8b1700f41f.jpg?v=0

Juz to add , the adjusters on either fork adjusts a different setting . Forgot which fork leg adjusts the damping , which one adjusts the rebound n preload .

Which is y until now i dun dare to play wif the settings .

Guess you are really the true hardcore "don't worry, Just Ride" rider haha

Just to add that the rear shock can only adjust Preload and Damping. No compression. And if anyone wanna know where is the screw for damping adjustment, it's located at the "dogbone" area :cheeky:

 guess i shud read the manual!! now where did I chuck dat thing :cheeky:

wats the diff bet maxima extra 10w40 & 15w50 har?

dun need to bother abt the 10w or 15w cos thats for cold country usage

we only c the behind 40 or 50

40-->thinner oil (cooler engine, engine more quiet)

50-->thicker oil (engine better performance)

i prefer to go for 40, so its up to individual

imo maxima not bery gd, most of us using motul 300v n no regrets

hi guys... talkin abt suspensions n forks is making me curious. My height is 1.65m wt is 59kg n my wifey weighs abt 48kg. Is there any adjustments tat i shud make to both suspension & forks to get a better n more comfortable riding posture coz the stock condition feels abit too hard?

Health Warning!

BootLicking is not good for your ASS!!!

Sounds like u need to soften it a little. Take it to bikelab or mteknik. I hear they're quite good at this. Not sure how much though.

Try the ride without any adjustments 1st. Then as u ride u'll have a better feel of the bike, then u can make whatever necessary adjustments to suit your riding style.

Here's a worthwhile read on suspensions settings.

Thanks all for the info!!! But does maxima comes in semi-syn or motul 5100 better?

wat the diff in performance & cost of 15w50 & motul 300v?

Almost all brands have fully and semi EO's. I use fully for bikes less than 5yrs old and switch to semi after that.

Erm not sure abt ur other question. 15w50 is a grade and 300V is product. Do u mean maxima extra 15w50 vs motul 300v 15w50?

Price diff is abt $7 per ltr, motul being more ex. However motul stays smoother for longer. Which EO to use depends entirely on your preference.
