Help...

Need advise from those who are well versed with electrics.

I had change both my headllight bulbs to 55/65w quite a few years back. Little did I know, the stock were 45/45w and I guess the wiring system is made to take only 45/45w.

So, with 2 x 55/65w, the wires start to get hot and eventually, the connecters melt. This problem is bugging for too long. Luckily, I discovered in time to prevent further damage by unplugging 1 headline. That seem to solve the problem, for the timebeing...

Question is, is there some parts I can get from Sim Lim Tower which I can DIY the bike to take the voltage/wattage of 2 bulbs? :giddy: I think there's some way.

Thanks...

...? wat u mean by taking away one headline?

For the 650s canadian version, the stock equipment is a crappy twin H4 45/45w bulbs, unlike JDM models which comes with the exotic projecter lens.

And these 2 bulbs are supposed to be on together but I have to disconnect 1 to prevent a electrical meltdown...

And precisely, you can't find a H4 45/45w replacement bulb in Singapore...

I'll bet the twin 45watt setup works better than the crappy Projector lamp.

Anyway, its not difficult to upgrade your headlight harness, then you can run 55/60watt h4 bulbs without any problems. Get a good brand though, like Philips, cos some lower quality aftermarket bulbs might actually draw more power for more brightness.

How to upgrade headline harness? Anyway, I'm running Philip's diamond vision. Tot using a good brand will fix the issue but it didn't.

The wires start heating up if I up 2 bulbs, so hot you can't touch them.

I had once connected a set of led light system drawing from the fuse socket of the high beam. Thus the led lights will on when I on high beam. Strangely, with this setup, the wire that goes to my headlines does not heat up. Is there a logical explaination or theory to this?

It means the wires are too thin.

You can run a relay, then use bigger guage wires for the headlamps, tap power straight from the battery. Headlamps will run slightly brighter this way too :thumb:

thanks dude, do i need to upgrade my wire with this solution?

wire to the Headlight and wire direct from the Batt use Monster cable :cheer: The original cable is enough to active the relay.

Ok, I got the relay. But where to get those monster cables? Sim Lim Tower? Do they call them monster cables or there's a techincal name to them? Sorry, I'm a en electrical idiot and those guys in Sim Lim Tower can tell.

I just kidding, Monster cable is expensive HiFi stuff, Simple house hold wire will do... they can handle 240VAC-13Amp...

Alright, gonna figure this out. Hope nothing explodes. Thanks man, you drew this diagram yourself?

BTW, what does a relay do?

Hi Lim,

I have found the wiring chart for our SV650S Canadian Model, link is here. Right click to download.

SV650S wiring chart

After some studying, I am unable to fit your eletrical model into it, somehow, there's something not right but I can't point my finger to it.

Both hibeam and lowbeam are connected to dimmer switch, but your model states lowbeam do not need to be connected. Kinda confused here.

Do you mind take a look and give your thoughts on this? My incompetence in eletronics has gave me fear in undertaking this complex work.

Well, twin 55watt bulbs would work better than a single projector lamp.

Anyway, it might be better to use two relays, one for low beam, one for highbeam. Use diodes to isolate each side (high and low), but when highbeam is on, both high and low will be on together.

I think I posted this before

But anyway, updated it with the diodes
