You can ask Ducati to sign you up as their official stuntman then travel around the world to perform.

:thumb:

Sent my bike in to Minerva today for general checkup cum servicing cum replace chain and sprocket. I'm expecting it to cost a bomb. The PROGRESS package might come in useful hehe.

BTW anybody knows the name of the lady at Minerva WORKSHOP?

[Disclaimer: I'm not an experienced monster rider]

It depends if you want to get a first hand or 2nd hand bike. A good budget for a 2nd hand one (7-8yrd old bike) would be about 5K. There will left over to touch up abit, cause you'll never know the condition of the bike just by a test ride or so. Maybe even a new coat of paint.

Honda Phantom TA200: Sep 04 - Dec 05

Ducati Monster M400: Dec 05 - Feb 07

Honda Silverwing FJS400D: Feb 07 - Jan 09

Honda Shadow 400: Nov 10 - Dec 11

Aprilia SR Max 300ie: Jul 12 - Mar 15

Also not an experienced Monster rider, but I have enjoyed a few other types of Ducati bikes and now hopefully very very soon my own Monster.

If you want to buy new 15300S$ without COE, etc.

Also keep in mind Ducati's are great bikes, but not always the cheapest to own.

Hi are you from S.I.M?

I actually tallked to the Yellow Monster with the up and down pipes on the road before. He told me he and his friend swopped pipes. He told me he was heading to S.I.M for lessons. Didn't get his name though.

Anyway Monsters sound quite loud even with stock pipes. Funny, I feel like I am getting abit tired of the Termis sound. Feel like putting back the stock pipes. I find that the stock pipes sound more "mechanical" with a bit of "jiu jiu jiu" sound, which is nice! Hehe!

Hi ahlam,

I don't know abt you but I prefer to get newer Monsters (2-3yrs old) cos they tend to be more problem-free (provided the owner servies the bike religiously). No point getting a cheap and old bike with lots of problems. In the end you won't enjoy the bike because you will be spending time and money trying to rectify problems. Then in the end you will say Monsters are lousy. No offence to the other riders ok. Just my 2 cents : )

Smart guess ..... Think one of them changed the pipe so the other took his stock pipe. They are my gfs' mates.

may i noe how much u guys fork out for replacing the essential parts like the timing belts, dry clutch set, valve clearance adjustment, etc?

heard they needed replacement ard 15000km to 20000km? so dat's gonna work out to ard 1yr plus?

does the aircooled monsters overheated easily? :thumb:

Hi ahlam,

Newer Monsters will be around above $7k and up. Also depends on what accessories they have. Some have Termis pipes and carbon fibre parts here and there. Carbon fibre from Ducati is NOT cheap.

The most important thing is you have to ask for the bike's service records. That is the proof that the bike has been serviced regularly because Monsters are imfamous for having lots of problems (because the owners don't service the bike well).

was doing my 2A lesson just now at BBDC and met this guy who is the owner of that silver Monster in Minerva showroom... he's also doing his 2A.

Unfortunately, not for my case, used to be quite difficult too except that I only need to open throttle abit to be able to engage to netural but now..... i have to turn off the engine to kick to it..... cant figure out y....

For my monster also same problem. However, I just release half clutch and kick to neutral can already. You can try it too...

i'm not very sure about the servicing charges you want to know, but the cost will vary depending on where you get the job done. For the aircooled engine overheating part, my M400 doesnt overheat seriously at all. The bike gets a little sluggish when engine temps are high (prolonged period in traffic jam) though nothing serious, still runs fine. Once the engine cools its back to normal

i saw from the previous posts ktkt was charged 1.5k juz for changing chain , srockets, timing belts, and other small stuffs :giddy:

bro ur duke looks very swee wit the undertail gpr exhaust  how much do they cost? does ur pillion complain of heating problem? most important... are they st legal? heard a black m4 duke at lavender st wit same gpr exhausts be4... wow sibae loud, almost like a 999 & 996 i heard be4, though not as bassy or low. heh, but nice!

Mine actually gets heat up pretty fast even while waiting at the traffic lights junction.... can gets really hot till I almost cannot endure the heat from below and wanted to turn off the engine and park aside to cool off....

Have encountered once tat bike cant move off when its getting really really hot...... Luckily not much traffic around & i managed to push the bike up kerb, let i cool down for hours ... :giddy:
