hi guys.. need your help..this 29nov is my first tp and i hope it will be my last..heeheehee..just a few questions.. during tp are they very strict and wont give u any chance? would they pass the first timers easily? damn worried..furthermore i'll be taking it at ssdc..do i have to check blindspot upon entering the crank course?

Posted

You have to go through the whole thing like it's a performance. You're essentially performing for the TP. If you have to turn and check blindspot, you must turn and check. That's how I see it, so I questioned the instructors many times as to where must check, where must not check. Nonetheless, I still kena several points because forgot to check :p

For crank course you check back right before moving off; when turning in no need to check; inside the course no need to check; when coming out, check right for traffic before turning (no need to check left because of risk of wobbling, but I did anyway). Then when turning out onto main road, check left blind spot.

They don't discriminate between first timers and repeats. I think first timers pass rate not so good more because of nervousness. The whole test is very formal so I guess it made a lot of first timers get very nervous. All the submitting the IC and PDL, queueing up and shouting your name etc. But just go through the motion as instructed and don't let it bother you.

As for looking at testers, I tried not to let it bother me. Like my e-brake, I thought I went over the line and the tester wrote something on his clipboard and the instructor standing next to him looked at me. Sian 1/2. Anyway, before the test, the instructors reminded us: "Don't look at the tester. Just nod at them when they tell you to go but no need to look at them. It will make you more nervous." I agree. Smiling at them won't make them more lenient. Just focus on doing your thing and "perform" for them.

Finally, my secret to passing is: VISUALISATION. I spent 2 days before the test going through the whole test route. What to do, what to watch out for. Be brave, because when you do so, all the bad things will come to mind, like you will imagine yourself dropping the bike or hitting the kerb. REJECT THE THOUGHT. DON'T BE AFRAID. Tell yourself you have practised enough and you are good enough for the test. Then kept rehearsing the test route in your mind. Even though during the pre-test warm up, I still made mistakes, but I refused to let it discourage me. Tell yourself you are good, good enough for the TP.

For those who will be taking TP - go for revisions and all the best!

i took TP 1 time..haha 12pts but shud be 6pt...6demerit came from e-brake haha..i have a habit of bending my body to the front and stand by my leg come down..hehehe..

anyways, to those taking TP anytime soon, just be confident and do it like u do self-practice..dont morning2 come and ask instructor "how many TPtester today ar?"..it wont help you rather makes u more nervous. just be confident and do it like routine. =) also dont need to look for tester outside road...they will look for you..haha just concentrate on the task at hand and i wish all those taking tp soon good luck. =)

well, its a question of how much u really wan to pass. for me, the 'nightmare' of failing 13x woke me up from my dream land.. no matter how broke i was, i readily set aside some money for CRs and RRs.. nothing is more impt than to go for revisions.. can call me siao!

at the end of the day, when i pass TP, i dont check to see how much i spent, but how much i learnt.. and i do really learnt a lot.. and im really thankful for that.. im sure you would too.. as im riding outside now and its totally different from CDC. can say CDC is like a nursery, and when u pass TP and ride outside, its like in secondary school.. a lot of diff between the 2. on the road outside, u have F$^%%*&%&%^ drivers around u who purposely squeezs to the left or right side of the lane just to block ur path etc etc..

niway, that time, GF was complaining i was spending a lot on CDC and not on her.. :cheeky: NSF where got a lot of money..

I agree with you, till now I took my CLS2A I still go for CR. As I'm not riding outside, so the "feel" is not there need constant practise to keep yourself sharp at all times. CR is like "buying" insurance, although no gurantee but it does build up your confidence going about the courses. Plus all of us wan to step out of the school gate with license.

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Nervous.

U can try to throttle more as the throttling might not be enough and that leads to wobbling.

I also encountered your problem before. Just throttle and u will feel that ur bike will be much easlier to control rather than throttle abit only.

Stopping with wobbling, try not to look down. it's help :)

As for Blindspot, it's like an acting, turn ur head in a very obvious manner, even thou u do not do till that extend. It's to show the instructor that you are changing blindspot and thas what they wana see too.
