Thks for the reply. How was the slalom & bumpy?

Met 1 guy during a kopi session who just started 2a lessons & was griping abt slalom. Said the wide crash bars always touched the cones. Instructor explained the wide crash bars were to simulate panniers! I certainly dont recall ever seeing any 400cc bike with panniers. Panniers ive only seen on cl 2 tourers. So logic escapes me a bit there. haha...

Pylon slalom's a *****!!!

The slalom was not so bad. The instructor kept telling to look ahead and not down. And he said make sure enough speed. As crazy as it sounds, it worked.

And the bumpy is fun actually. I like to go mountain biking, so it was similar. Except for the damn heat of the engine and the weight of the bike. And again the instructor have tips to is to make sure we could do it.

My issue was with the plank and the slope.

I'd observed quite a lot of slaloms by all 3 classes of bikes when i was queueing up for the plank. The cl 2 & 2b ones wld look a very smooth & natural. The 2a ones look rather forced & deliberate. Most likely cos of the rather wide crash bars jus made things more difficult. But its just a visual perception.

The guy also shared he saw a rather petite girl on a cl 2 bike, tippity toes like ballerina but did a very nice, smooth & fast slalom just by swaying her hips!

Another guy I met saw a very petite girl lift up the dummy cl 2 bike at BBDC.

Hope these will encourage you a bit when the time comes.

Thanks for sharing.

Is it the slope entry procedures that youre having trouble with?? The signalling to kerb, chk bk away from kerb & all that?

Plank - make a normal start, maintain clutch at biting pt. Close throttle when front tyre reaches up the plank. You will break 8 secs. Close throttle abt half to three quarter way before you reach the plank, you will break 10 secs. Based on my 2b experience that is. Not trying to boast. Hope it helps in some way. But took damn hell lots of work to get it.

Thank you for the tips. Yes the issue is with the entry. Kept forgetting to change the signals. And another issue is moving off. I find it difficult to get the biting point 1st before moving off, hence I move back.

The plank I kept rolling off the midway. That was on the 1st lesson. I was riding a bike aft 7 years. Aft that was ok. Although I'll try your tip for the plank for my RC. Going for my lesson 3 already.

I believe 2a/2 will enter from the traffic light side? If you gonna end up on the left side of the ramp, signal left & no need to change signal before you stop. If youre gonna be on the right side, signal left & then signal right to kerb before stopping. When moving off, signal & chk bk away from kerb.

Eyeline is impt for plank. I like to alternate betn the end of the plank & the 1st cone. Others just look as far ahead as possible. Just do whatever that works for you.

Ya slowly slowly practice the plank. It was the biggest killer for me during my 2b days. But since slow speed skills are the most impt skills for a rider, i pushed myslf hardest for that one. But once I finally got it, twas rather addictive! I found, to be able to do a slow plank far more gratifying then a fast F8!.

All the best for your L3!

To plank properly, use your thighs to grip the tank tightly. I also believe in a tall straight back to add stability.

Jbdoggy - we meet again! Took 2b about the same time last year! How are class availability for 2A in CDC? Difficult to get slots?

Hey stealth! How are you? You enrolled yet? I just cleared L2 today. Crs next week to prep for L3.

Slots for practical lessons ok lah. Every week still will have something or other. Just a matter whether those slots can suit your timing or not only.

Be more vigilant for theory slots. When i 1st enrolled there was none for the timeframe of april to june. But 2 days later have 1 slot in early may, so i quickly grabbed it! Every now & again since then, ive been checking theory slots out of curiosity & still nothing new has appeared. So camp vigilantly for theory.

may i know before moving off bumpy course need to cancel off the right signal?

Yes must off signal after moving off from ebrake. Do it just before you stand up. Signal right again after you finish bumpy.
