next time u see this kind of driver just horn or slow down .Horn is to alert him .Next time must learn to press horn cos a sound can save your life

 

Hi Ladyrider, I second Michael's remark. The purpose of the horn is to raise an immediate awareness to the surroundings especially of impending perils.

Naturally some people take horning very offensively. But if an accident take place, you will rather horn and have someone showing you the international handsign.

 

Horn the bugger if necessary. And save a few asses.

I was riding my Shadow for 6 years and neber horn! i thot i pretty good, then one of those day kenna cut in by a female mercedees bemz taxi diber , try to horn her , later discover horn not working...so malu sia!

Just when i escaped frm a major accident myself, witnessed one of the most major accident ever in singapore jus now.

 

WAs on d way with family frm newton towards wdls.. ON PIE.. suddenly vehicles slowed down.. dad predicted correctly that confirm d other side gt accident n so every1 slow down to see.. and we aso did d same.. haha..

 

TO MY BIG HORROR,, I SAW A a few lorries(around 3) all over on PIE.. and d LONGEST LORRY overturned occupying all 3 lanes of PIE.. and there was a van stuck under it.. i really hope no bikes involved.. dunno wat was d cause of accident but d lorry really overturn sia.. VERY LONG LORRY sia.. one of d longest i ever seen.. didnt noe such a lorry can overturn aso.. pity d van stuck under it.. and pity d ppl who wil be involved in clearing it..

 

On d way towards town earlied ard 8pm aredi i saw d sign sayin PIE(CHANGI AIRPORT) closed.. at d particular exit there.. and on d way back jus nw still like dat.. so d accident stuff cant be cleared i guess.. will take very long time.

 

Those using PIE CHANGI AIRPORT STARTING frm bke.. pls avoid it.. even if u dun.. u will be diverted to exit at one of d exits. if nt mistaken i tink lornie.

 

After seeing dat incident, dad asked me to be careful on d road frm now on. And now, thats really an eye opening experience..

 

RIDE/DRIVE Safely ppl.. stay away frm reckless drivers.. nowdays even BIG LORRIES ARE involved in accidents. Scary.

I used it only once before and wen driving dad's car aso wun use.. and get scolded by him, esp wen sum clowns cut into our lane and yet i dun horn or watsoever.. my dad opposite la.. always horn.. haha

yup. just reached home from PIE. massive jam sia. PIE after lornie closed. luckily bikes can play around with the spaces on the road.

Anyways if I encounter such "skillful" drivers as these, I'll give them a thumbs-up. If they're smart enough, they still know what I truly mean. That way I won't get sued! Lame, I know, sorry..

with an empty stomach mod only, it's damn loud but no power...

Yesterday night while riding home via PIE-BKE, this Honda civic on the 3rd lane was beside me coz I middle lane. We are at a speed that we both ride/drive side by side. When I throttle abit he also follow. Then I wonder what actually he wants. Then I try throttle again, he also quickly follow my speed. by then its 110kph. Then I see like boring already and somemore nearing my exit, I dropped gear and pull throttle. hehe. its 2am so not much activty on my lane. The driver also speed up trying to catch up. Go all the way then I signal left and exit. Leaving him speeding by his own. He's quite happy I think. I hope he remembers the Speed Camera in front if not kena saman sia. lol

Today while ridin on d way to sch in d morning.. was on lane2.. suddenly a yellow car changed lane without checkin blindspot.. so i swerved a bit to the left.. and guess wat.. HE CONTINUED to change to lane 3.. i was like "wat d hellllllll" coz he aredi come into lane2 right beside me without checking blindspot.. and d blind driver continued to push me to the next lane coz he wan change to lane 3..

 

At that point of time, i went so blank, i cudnt even find the horn... and all i did was swerve more to the next lane.. AND ITS MY GOOD LUCK.. there wasnt any vehicles on d next lane.. and FINALLY D BLIND MAN SAW MY bike n swerved to the right and slowed down..

 

I continued my journey crying.. Dun ask me why i cried.. but seriously.. it was VERY SCARY... I did experience drivers changing lane without blindspot before.. but not that close as in SERIOUSLY RIGHT BESIDE ME.. wah..... feel like dun wan ride for the next few days.. haha

 

When riding, you have to be constantly aware what's happening around you 360 degrees. Most drivers do not see us bikers, especially in Singapore when

 

a) we have a class system for our bikes so most of our bikes on the highway are "mini" bikes compared to other countries where the bigger bikes are on the highways and smaller cc bikes are just for small roads aka towns (to them)

 

and

 

b) Singaporean drivers are the worst bunch I've ever seen. All attitude and ego and think they damn rich and all kinda stupid reasons but never keep-a-look-out-on-the-road-and-drive-safely reason.

 

One of a methods I use which I find very useful is when I know there's a car near me, I'll keep my finger and thumb on the both the high beam and horn on standby and keep an eye on the vehicle in case they do something funny, which mainly is change lane while not knowing you're next to them. I'll also be more attentive to both my brakes in case I need to do any sudden braking. Oh, I also standby an evil eye to stare at the driver with and a finger to flip when needed. hee

 

I find this method helps me a lot to allow me to ride without much stress. I also get to use more evil eyes and flippy fingers than high beams and horns. hahaha

Actually not 100% true. Last time I ride harley also like that. Still got so many idiots never "see" me. I must go next to them and blow then can.

 

Don't forget, the driver is in an enclosed box with probably their music blasting or talking on the handphone (most of the case) or their passengers so they won't hear you no matter how loud you are.

 

Imagine how much sound is cut off just by wearing a full face helmet. Same goes for the driver, or even more for that matter. Not to forget the sound proofing mods they can do to their cars. The most they can hear is probably (using Harleys as an example) is just the low rumble and not the full roar cos all the sound proofing via car, helmet, earphones, hp taking etc. It simply filters out the high end frequencies, noise and air to allow reverberation and so on.

 

But dun worry, the horn will work very well mainly due to it being directional just like sirens (correct me if I'm wrong about this). So honk if you're horny.

standard one lah... there are cases of cars on lane 2 of eway... cannot anticipate the exit... last min cut into my lane which is lane 3... expect me to give way when the car is right beside me. tried to slow down but lorry on lane 3 is tailgating me.

 

makes me wonder, slow down, wait lorry bang me. don't slow down, that idiot from lane 2 just don't give a damn to my horns. (if i am driving a 10axle lorry, i would have run that car over...) in the end, the car just come in and ebrake, forcing me to ebrake and that lorry also ebrake. knnbccb...
