today damn piss with a stupid woman driver. just opp Kranji Sec School was a traffic light. i was behind the car when we came to a red light. when the light turned green, i started to move off, then realise the car NOT MOVING yet. jam braked, almost rear end it. so I thot I was wrong, chk the light, correct leh it is green. car STILL not moving. fed up and horn the hell out of them, then car start moving. they turn into the same MSCP and stopped b4 entering (so to conveniently take some stuff out from the car. stupid ppl). overtook them and give them another taste of the horn. how the hell did these ppl get the %%^*(( license.

anyway today was funnny... from main road i turn left into a minor road (cant see whats at the minor road as view is blocked by fences).... den got 1 stupid aunty ride bicycle, she ride against the traffic(towards me), so zhun i turn i see her.... den she didnt even notice me, but i notice her, so i siam abit to my right so that she can safely past me.... den she suddenly notice me and give me the "ARRGHHHHHHHHHH" look.... hahahahahaha!!!!! i feel its so super hiliarious.... coz i probably finished saying "what an idiot..." for like half a sec before she notice me... hahahaha.. which means i siam out of the way safely alreadi la..... and the look on her face was classical....

i think when i go jurong i'll be more careful, alot of riders on bicycle and worst still... riding against traffic taking up 1/4 of the lane.... really asking for it....

is there a law which states that now cannot ride bicycle on pavement? there is rite?

Today..

Some drivers knew bikers are very enthusiastic to get out of slow filter lanes so a few of them gave me a huuuuge space to enter the PIE even though I was more than happy following the lorries (which were at a reasonable speed themselves).

So in the evening I deliberately let cars out at yellow boxes, don't squeeze to cut queue at filter lanes and when I got to the CTE northbound I noticed this van driver going quite fast in Lane 3 but had to slow down a lot because the uphill traffic suddenly lost speed (typical!).

I know the guy at the back of such a uphill "train" of vehicles would check right mirror and shove his way into Lane 2 if it's clear. This time the driver saw me slowing down slightly and waving for him to proceed to go ahead of me and happily gave me a friendly wave!

It's just then I noticed... letting the van go ahead didn't hold up anyone, travelling speed in my lane actually increased because no one had to jam brakes due to the gradual changes of speed.

It's when vehicles block each other that those wanting to change lanes will actually try and use brute force to get to the other lane blocking everyone else in the process.

:( bro, mind if i asked wat speed u travelling at? and wat tires u using? can pm me.

i hope u wore covered shoes (despite the rain) which will at least absorb some impact.

Hey sorry for the late reply... that day I'm traveling at

Couple of days ago, saw this taxi driver at my left approximately >50m ahead of me. Suddenly, he made a U-turn from left all the way till opposite traffic. My fren shared with me, his fren, fren a lady driver made a U-turn from the extreme left lane... wah.. kena accident still claim that she's right, cause the U-turn sign was present. :dozed:

I queuing up at the right lane for the official right turn, saw this uncle in kup cut to the extreme right (there's no divider between incoming and ongoing traffic) saw incoming vehicle closing up uncle kup very dangerous act.

was riding on PIE towards changi earlier.. around 2250hrs..

2 cagers with about 4 car lengths inbetween them were coming in from filter lane, toa payoh..

i was travelling on 3rd lane aka the slowest lane.. the 1st car filtered in w/o much issues, was still far from him/her..

juz as i was reaching the give-way line, the silver civic just filter out w/o checking for traffic.. i was anticipating that he will filter in w/o checking, already beam-ed him to signal there's traffic coming, GIVE WAY..

no choice but to jam brake and horn the bugger..

filter back to lane 2, hazard lights on and slow down wait for the bugger..

bugger dare not come close, quickly filter out to toa payoh safra.. :sian:

do check the compound type of ur tires (hard/ soft). 60 on wet road can lead to near misses if we factor in the tires..

I think today was the third? convoy I've led this weekend.

All the other vehicles give way to me = easy convoy riding for the rest :D

Safety briefings become like watching Macross anime, I will just say

No. 1 - clear the traffic

No. 2 (VIP bike + pillion) - follow No. 1

No. 3 & 4 - fighter escorts, defend the rear

Plan the route one week in advance for maximum smoothness, monitor weather and traffic conditions from 6 hours before launch.

Getting there on time, on target with zero communication necessary en route is an art.

My National Day 2010 thoughts for sharing....

1. To consider using a full face helmet only after suffering facial injuries in an accident with an open face helmet is like using a condom only after the girlfriend is pregnant.

2. If your ride everyday is full of near misses and you have to fit very loud horns and use them everyday while on the road........... perhaps something is very wrong with the way you ride.

3. Like what the girl said... Singaporean first, race is secondary. Singaporeans Chinese should speak only English to each other and stop acting like the PRCs.

not quite agree with what Raptor has said. My NDP 2010 wish would rather be:

May ALL SINGAPOREANS be ahead of the FTs so we can be their boss, not their competitors.

To add on, having such thots for a moderator is not very productive actually. when i was younger, ppl r able to converse in at least 4 to 5 languages with ease (father and mother's dialects, mandarin with other dialect grp, market malay with non-chinese). i dun see why nowadays the kids have to struggle with only 2.

i wanna complain !

the YOG give way thing is a horror! heard things such as those lucky people who gives way to the YOG buses may stand to win prizes. in my mind i was already like ... "okay ... so i foresee cars who may suddenly change lanes haphazardly"

and it happened ! this kiasu driver die2 wanna lane change and give way to the YOG bus. just gotta keep my cool, have to "practice" my patience coz fasting month is coming tihihi. suay2 my horn not working. *panic situation* clutch in and 'made some noise'. apek went back to his lane and i quickly siam far from him.

As for my NDP wish, just like THePole, i'd like to see us singaporeans be the FT's bosses rather than competing for places with them. on the other hand, i would also want to see all the races being treated equally and for discrimination based on language spoken be abolished. it's really disheartening to open up job ads and alot of them has a "requirement to speak XYZ language to liase with clients from XYZ country".

oh, and i also wish that TP testers aren't biased and pass female testees blindly !

Today while riding to work

decided that I'd take a short cut through the inner housing estates however due to the no right turn into this particular road which led to these smaller inner roads I had to take a longer detour and pay 4 times the ERP amount I could have paid. Ohh well hahaa.

Heard this from my friend, he was driving along the middle lane on the ECP when two CISCO outriders came up and signalled for him to change lane to the left. According to my friend, if he change lane to the left, he would be exiting ECP, so he signalled right and wanted to change to the right instead. Unfortunately he was unable to change lane due to the outrider blocking his way.

Apparently the outrider's hand signal was not very clear but that one I really have no clue.

today while riding, got tailgated by a SUV on my way back from 2nd link. was on lane 1 on AYE just before the camera at NUS when this bugger came too close for comfort. couldnt change lane cos in front was a taxi and lane 2 was packed. from my mirror, i can see the SUV pushing/poking me (step accelerator then let go) repeatedly. somemore he on foglights + highbeam :(

decided i rather lane split to be in front of this idiot and went ahead. i think the taxi driver saw wad happened and let me through. after which he maintain just enough speed to be just slightly in front of the vehicles on the 2nd lane, so the SUV would be jammed behind him. he kept the SUV driver jammed long enough for me to find a nice spot in front to get into lane 2 before giving way.

sheesh~~~ talk about impatient drivers on the roads nowadays. and thanks to the taxi uncle

u need to be young and reckless to become old and wise..... if u survive

Ever seen an SUV with HIDs? Massive annoyance. The high-mounted HIDs' only use is blinding everyone on the road.

Where's LTA when you need them? Quit being infatuated with 2 stroke exhausts, go regulate the vehicles that cause actual danger to other motorists!

Bro... I see myself as a member of SBF first then as a moderator. Just because I am a moderator does not mean I cannot express what I feel... like the other forumners. You mean I have to only post productive thots (in your personal opinion) whilst others like you can express yourselves freely in the forum?

And by the way.. I am not the moderator for Chatterbox.. I post in here just like any other member.

ouch. i got that b4 when i accidentally ZHAM my big toe into the stairs... so i can imagine how blardee painful that must have been. good news is it'll grow back. i actually cut it all out, since ald detached from flesh..

the tire compound issue is.. eh..

basically soft compound = more friction but easier to botak (More grip vs $). hard compound = less friction, especially when wet, but more hardy, literally (less grip vs economical). check with fellow riders abt the compound of ur tire, or ask the mech! unfortunately i dunno so cant help much. :cheeky:

Today while riding!!!

Relac ba long long riding along Upper Thomson -> Farrer Road.

Scarlee within 3 seconds 3 vehicles QIONG towards me from behind. before i noe it, i was amidst an unofficial drag race. my bad for travelling on lane 1.. i jit tao signal left, siam and continue ba long long...

the funny thing was, the 3 vehicles were, in order of "pole position":

1) Beat up Mercedes CAB O_o

2) GU Old VAN O_o

3) SBW COE sports car O_o

they were going at least 120kph...

the next funny thing was... 5 mins l8r, we were ALL @ the SAME TRAFFIC LIGHT, STUCK IN THE SAME SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC. :faint:

of course, i can lane split.. happy jamming.. :cheeky:
