Thanks a lot guys for your advice.. :cheeky:

Anyway.. I have search around the forum for Prices of Phantom 200.. FU-FY Plate cost around $1.6K-$2.5K online.. Can I know the rough idea on how much does a shop sell a 200 cc Phantom? I have only a budget of $2.6K inclusive of the machine price, insurance, transfer fee, road tax and FC.. Is it enough or do I have to save more? :faint:

should not be difficult to get 2.6k FU or FV plate. But at that price, you should at least expect recent engine / gearbox overhaul or both (within a year) plus lots of cool mods, or simply very low mileage bikes.

My advice: get the cheapest machine u can find, as long the physical outlook is decent. Send it for gearbox and engine overhaul + chain spocket change (approx $800). at 2.6k, u got a brand new bike, literally.

my 2 crappy cts worth! :p

150 doesn't vibrate as much as 200 at the same speeds. this is from experience.

i nt meanin top speed i meanin higher speed mayb like 120 liddat .. cause 150cc have valve .. like once u drag on ta200 ur bike will vibrate but if u try on ta150, the valve will open once u drag ur gear and the so call "2nd power is use" hence the bike won;t vibrate as much ..

Posted
That's coz TA150 uses gear oil, whereas the TA200 uses engine oil. Different. That's why yours can tahan so long. But my TA200 also every 5k thereabouts then change EO one haha. So comparatively my TA200 is more cost saving since oil changes are made at roughly the same mileage intervals, i don't have to purchase 2T, and i pump petrol less frequently. But some ppl change every 2-3k then there'll be not much difference liao.

Anyway more power doesn't necessarily mean lousier fuel consumption la. A good tuning can deliver more power and give better FC at the same time, as all fuel is burnt efficiently. Also...my ex SV400 has more power than a super 4...but FC is much better...haha. Engine configs do play a role here. But I'm getting carried away here...

agree with you and u did carried away cau i only compare the 2 model hehe.. but to me if some1 wan to save money on bike i rather ask them take public transport if not den wave or x1 is the better choice ..

as once u got a vehicle u are aready makin a lost for sure .. :)

no matter what, all 2b bikes are cheaper than public transport

and if you factor in the fact that time=money, ALL bikes are cheaper than public transport...

i like this mentality. i fully agree time=money.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

public transport also have traffic lights ma...if u talking about mrt, every single station the train stops and that's delay also...u factor in peak hours means u may miss some trains since they are jam pack. bus also can bang into something, catch fire....mrt also can break down. You walking to mrt station also can let some kuku merc driver langgar....a lot of ifs and whats la if you wanna say things like that ;)

one question, drive chains tend to slack overtime.. that we have to tighten by moving the rear wheel backwards.. at the end, cant be tighten anymore then mech usually say have to change new one..

how about removing one node from chain to make it short and tight to use again ?

isit possible ?

Yes, it can be done, but it is not encouraged. A stretched chain already has weakened links. Shortening & reusing it by tensioning it some more will have a risk of snapping.

The last thing you want to happen is to have a chain snap on you while you are riding.

Hi, I've been riding my TA200 for about 2 years now, recently I noticed that there are some metal clanging sound coming from the engine (maybe gear box) that is esp audible when u clutch in... any idea what could be the problem?

And how often should you change the chain and how roughly how much? Thanks.

today took the bike for a long spin...about 50km ride, i also heard this shuffling noise at certain speed after clutching in ..is this also the chain noise??.. the chain confirm ok..no slack at all when pulled from the rear gear.

ya it is possible but not advisable...you are using a worn out chain...anyhing can happen....this one must change with the gears...scarly bike cannot move..
