a tyre worm actually is for temp usage only, maybe for touring to get to a destination. Instead, go to the motor shop and ask them to patch it up for you. Something like a plaster from the inside :thumb:

Else change the whole tyre in exchange for safety's sake. If you choose to go for the former, do check your tyre pressure every few days.

It actually lasted almost the entire lifespan of my old rear tyres without any leakage issues.

Anyways Finrod, 7 bucks? Damn man thought it's $5? Everything hiked already?!

If you ask me, 2000km change EO.

Every second change of EO, change spark plug. (Normal ones)

I see, thanks.

Just a question. The manual states engine oil change at 4000km interval. So far i have reached 2600km and the engine oil is still at the high level on the dipstick. Most of the ppl in the forum recommend 2000km interval change. So do i have to change it since i already hit over 2000km? Or its safe to continue using as long as the engine oil doesn't dip below the low level on the dipstick? Thanks

Phantom Manual got put 4000km...? Wikipedia put 1500km if im not wrong... Anyways, i recommend u change ba ... cos the EO might be dirty etc...

normal daily ride but already hit past 2000km is ok.

but advisable to change @ 3000km.

eo level below dipstick is to top up, doesnt mean change.

frequent maintenance is to protect the engine's internal mechanisim.

protect & maintain it well, it'll benefit u back. :thumb:

Patched there twice. 5 or 6 bucks for each time.

Maybe he used some super duper powerful Earthworm Jim or something for you, or he couldve noticed your Rolex and Armani accessories.

Thanks everyone for the advise. Think i will try patching it and see if it leaks often. If it doesn't help much then i change the tyre. Thanks

Shouldnt leak after the patch, especially if the embedded nail is still abundantly managing to keep in enough air to be able to ride for a few days. :thumb:

i believe EO recommended to change more frequently is due to lack of oil filter in Phantoms... so any gunk in EO will get circulated round n round the engine... short term might not see the effect but long term damage will set in...

huh no oil filter on TA200... hmmm

anyway, dont save on engine oil... my advice.

there's no coolant for TA200 also right?

Sep'04 - Nov'05 (1yr, 2mths): NSR150SP (FR2577Z)

Nov'05 - Dec'06 (1yr, 1mths): GSX400R (FJ6410L)

Dec'06 - Sep'08 (1yr, 9mths): CBR929RR (FS3851U)

Sep'08 - Mar'12 (3yr, 5mths): TA200 (FV4581B)

Mar'12 - ???????????????????: GL200R (FBE5662G)

That's correct. TA200 is air-cooled.

Yeh, i read thru the manual, and on one of the chart(Maintenance chart i think), it shows change of engine on 1000km, followed by 4000km, 8000km and 12 000km. So i assume after running in, we can change engine oil at 4000km interval. Thats y i was confuse y ppl change it at 2000km, but im clearer now. Thanks

hi, ive just read the whole manual of the old ta200. There are no reccomendation in the manual to change the engine oil but personally, at 1500km, the engine oil is black which means that there are suspended sediments and that my Eo is working well. Although colour shouldnt be the judge, during draining, there are no sludge formed.. which is good. You can play around with the numbers but once you are feeling paranoid, you can change it for a piece of mind. They are not expensive nor time consuming to replace anyway. but for sure, I wouldnt reccomend 4000km intervals for the change. IMO.

hi do you guys have any problems with the mscp floor when it's wet? I'm using stock tyres and my bike fishtailed everytime i pass by the wet floor and finally skidded just now when i was going home. Do metzeler tyres help? Or do every bikes have this problem and it's all because of the floor?

Posted

going too fast? naturally will cause less traction due to water acting as "lubricant" between the 2 surfaces. Am using metzeler but don't speed across MSCP so I don't encounter that.

Not sure if Metzeler help... but... carpark floors are slippery when wet and there might also be oil spills... so becareful... Of course, Metzeler will be better than your stock tyres if you compare their performance on the road. :)

Well... jB said it all... if all else fails... clutch in then kick start lor...

By the way... hard to change gears usually means time to change EO for me... that might help too...
