Qn to ask bros, Juz did full servicing ytd n got bac my bike today..the person charge me 169 ..60 bucks for brake n 100 for the two thing pertruding juz below the fuel tank...its noe as carb or wad I'm nt sure...den 9 bucks for the light at the back..nt sure its worth it or wad..but after riding den I dound out dat it gives off alot of white smoke from the exhaust..even when I ride for quite sometimes the smoke is still coming out. (This isn't the case b4 I went for the full service) so anyone noe wads the prob?

Siao liao Why 60 for brakes? brake pads front + rear only half that price. wad thing proturding from under the tank? Where you service one?

Yea bro sounds like overly expensive tuition fee. Suggest you go over to Planet Motors at Ubi Industrial Area, near Comfort Driving Centre. The boss there won't anyhow 'tok' pple one. That's y business dam good.

Question on signal light 'timing'. My front signal lights are original & my rear signal lights are an aftermarket type.

 

Since I changed my rear to the aftermkt type, my timing has increased in 'flashes per minute'. Anyway to adjust this? Thankew..

think the chrome parts should be matt black need to get down to waxing and de-rusting soon..

bro, you can refer to typical prices for phantom repairs n mods for prices or Possible Solutions to your Phantom's Problem for troubleshooting

 

cost of changing parts is one thing, whether the parts need to be changed in the first place is another thing all together...

 

this is from my own personal experiece... mech tell u this thing gonna need to change and cost xxx, and if u dun change will yyy... if u know what he's talking about and u do feel some symptoms, and the price is fair, then change it... otherwise, always seek a second opinion...

The ratings of the stock vs aftermarket lights do not match. You need a new condenser aka blinker.

Today went bac to the shop n he say that the smoke is not cause by the servicing..he say he juz touch the thing inside the metal cover petrudin out juz below the fuel tank n he say this prob need to change the oil seed alr...n quote me another 45 lidat..so any bros noe is it ok for the change or should I go another shop. I've read up some of the thread n think it might be the piston...so piston for 45 is it ok?

I totally cannot understand what you are describing, so am not able to offer any proper advise.

 

A piston change will cause heck of a lot more than $45. So that's probably not it.

I think you go Planet better... if really 45 for a piston then very cheap wor... piston price should be around $200...+- ....

 

If your TA200 got white smoke then better faster go check ... from what i know, and i only know 2 reasons, one of which is your bike dying liao and need to overhaul... the other is there is overflow of petrol and it is unable to combust fully... hope its the 2nd one...

 

From then 2nd point, it would make some sense in what the mech says... need to change oil seal? ... not too sure..

He is right front and back about half the price u paid... they tok u jialat jialat... unless u are using wad EBC then i nothing to say...

Could it be the air intake thingy...?? im not too sure too... definitely a botched job... Anyways, kembangan is so near to planet, i think its about 15 traffic lights away... +- ... why wont you go there?? though sometimes its a long wait, its gonna save you $$$.

Most of us only have one shop. Planet Motorcycle Servicing Center. Not sure how much cos never change the parts that you change... but the brakes are definitely cheaper and if there isnt a need to change anything, he will tell u not to waste money.

 

If white smoke is after servicing there, then dun think is piston problem....

Anyway just to share with you about the stuff I did at Planet with my TA200...

 

Bike was smoking after I bought from sbf (really sway - didn't check properly)

 

Ah Chong told me my piston + block gone when I called him after sending in my bike, the block already bore by previous owners until cannot liao, therefore need to change block. He even showed me my previous block and thoroughly explained to me

 

Total cost me $550 which includes oil + spark plugs + new handlebar + front mudguard (got into an accident on pie the day I wanted to go to Planet - double sway )...

 

If you're changing your piston only i think it should cost you about $300+ bah, if add in block will be like $480+....hope you're not as sway as me

Well think of it as you are getting a new engine. Service finish already ask ah chong for a receipt. Next time sell bike use the receipt as proof that your engine is like new. "Planet" this next is reputable. Dun belief ask him to refer to this forum. Or go Planet itself to double check when go for servicing.

before we get carried away, i believe phantomintheair is riding a TA150 (from his old posts)... so the white smoke is not as bad as if it were occuring in a TA200... unless we're talking about smoke machine kinda white smoke...

 

anyway, to phantomintheair, i suggest bring ur bike to another shop for second opinion... Planet or not, it's up to you, but a lot of us here have been visiting Planet for our regular servicing... my point is, get a second opinion...

aiyah chey!! I thought is TA200... lol... TA150 white smoke should be quite normal... if too much then maybe is 2T top up too much, or u can go planet for solution...

Sry for the late reply...yah I'm ridin ta150...I noe its normal to have white smoke...but b4 the service I'll juz need to open the trottle a few times when I start up my bike den it will be alright..But for now..No matter how much I trottle or how long I ride, the white smokes keep on emittin n its alot..even I went to the shop the mech say its way too much white smoke n he quote me 45 to repair it n argued its not becoz of wad he did to my bike the oter day...So I'm kinda angry n decide to go to another shop tml or the day after tml...

Another thing is dat the day dat I went for servicing I told him my phantom can only go abt 170km full tank which is quite pathetic n he say he noe the prob n after the service he say its ok alr now I will save alot on petrol n gave me a smile..but today when I try n tour around..it can only go abt 160+ to 170..still the same... I'm really dissapointed..

hmmm 150 should be better than 17km/l .... u really should go planet...

 

check if you top up the 2t to the brim or not... (cause of alot of white smoke). Other than checking the 2t i also not too sure liao..
