I just change my 4t to motul 5100. 1 and a half bottle(2 for $34). Is it too expensive?

What kind of 4T is good enough and how much mileage does it normally last?

I also change a air filter to original one. $22. I think i might have been carrot-ed :(

Done it at bukit batok. :(

Air filter probably carrot liao... EO i think is ok... but Phantom usually only need 1 bottle.... its 1.2L if im not wrong... so usually people only pour 1 bottle... but buy already also no choice, just top up as and when there is a need lor...

motul should cost like that.

Actually, 1.2L is not necessary. Learn how to check your eo by the right crankcase cover. 1L is really enough. Im using maxima 20w50 been doing 1200km wo any problems. Will not be turning to other brands even though i can diy. Can search for the manual here too on how to check your eo levels. I dont know how much and original one would cost but for that price, ill top up to get a knn. Ah boy sells cheong ones for $10 i heard but u'll have to diy.

Yes, most of the time the EO gets burnt off and dunno go where, but u top up when u check the EO level, not one shot pour 1.5L into the bike, sommore the reservoir can only hold 1.2l, how to pour 1.5l ?=> this one i not sure liao cos i everytime also pour 1 bottle nia...

Does your bike feel draggy or anything??

Optimum is 2k change once. 3k is the max....

Mineral to Full syn is good enough, depends on your usage. Its like ron 95-98-Premium(which petrol kiosk offers it). Input 1L and monitor weekly your usage of EO.

Air filter my friend changed at hua chin for $18 though we know it could be cheaper elsewhere but the extra few bucks was paid for the time saved. Take it easy ;)

:btw: lycan, you forgot where I stay is it? never asked me

Phantom bros, noob question.

May I know what are the functions of the 'rectifier'?

And if say my rectifier is spoilt, will my battery be spoilt as well?

Also, If say my ignition switch is 'on', but battery dead, possible to push start?

My bike failed to start, attempted push start, unsuccessful, battery died shortly. Went to ah chong, he said battery, then tested rectifier, also spoilt.

Posted

From what I know, Rectifier is like the dynamo that recharges your battery.

Battery is battery, rectifier is rectifier, one spoil the other won't spoil.

But you sway, both also spoilt !

Push start IS for when the battery is dead, otherwise who will want to push start?

Thanks for the info bro!

I always thought along the lines that push start is for when the spark plugs die on you. Unable to ignite the engine, so have to push start.

- this leads me to another question, if spark plugs die but battery okay, can push start?

I have similar problem before also....

Problem: Unable to start, change 3 battery from different shops, den one mechanic say rectifier spoil, changed rectifier, den problem come again, cannot start, den went ah chong, den say battery lousy, over charged, den battery expanded, change to better battery, den everyting okay liao....

den was told by experience phantomer, saying before start or off engine, switch off ur headlight and signal, can store more battery for starting the engine.

Recitifer is the ting that charges your battery when your bike is on running, if recitfer spoil, if still have battery still can start, but will last you very short period of times of start , maybe few days onli, but if battery totally spoil means spoil la... recitifer spoil not equal to battery spoil, battery spoil not equal to recitifer spoil. ...... tat is wat i learn from the lesson.....

Very informative!

My bike auto on headlight when ignition switch on, haha bor pian.

The symptoms I experience were initially, I just could not start the bike, battery was on (relatively new & good batt, few months old, YUSHA).

After attempting to start engine & throttle in a couple of times, battery got weaker. Attempted push start a few times, then battery died.

I am puzzled as to why ah chong said the battery cannot be salvaged/ recharged. Forgot to ask him! Did my repeated attempts to start & push start destroy my battery cos my rectifier was dead?

Any idea why this happens? Would like to avoid a 2nd time..

batteries that cannot be recharged are physically damaged...ie check for deformation of the battery plastic casing..

if u find slushy semi solid in the battery ...

batteries that are overcharged or used until 100% dead...are unlikely to be salvageable....

IMHO..

nb...if your battery is weak..becareful ..eg.at low voltage starting of engine, there is apossibility of the contacts being fused together...

rectifier is a electronic circuitry that convert the ac from the bike's alternator to about 14.5v dc ..purpose is for batterry charging and provide dc for bike operation.

dudes.

whenever i kick to gear 5 got this weird sound.. only on that gear. so must i change gear 5 alone .. or i have to change the all 6gears ? roughly how much would that be ? and one more thing. whenever i park my bike. the next morning i go to it. there will be a pool of i think EO on the ground.. looks like the leak coming from the left side.. dunno what seems to be the prob.

thanks =D

If it is indeed a gear problem, you can just change gear 5 & not the whole gearbox. Price wise, I dunno.

One thing for sure, your bike looks like it needs a trip to the mechanic.
