hey. anyone DIY a ciggy socket for handphone?

Where do your hide it? Can someone teach me?

Thanks

Step 1. Unscrew the 3 screws of the seat and take out seat.

Step 2. Lift up the rubber flap under the seat to reveal the battery.

Step 3. Partially unscrew the screws of the battery. (If you unscrew totally it's a hell of a job to screw it back)

Step 4. Connect the Red wire of the Ciggy lighter plug to the +

Step 5. Connect the Black wire of the Ciggy lighter plug to the -

Step 6. Screw back the screws of the Battery to secure the wires.

Step 7. Use cable tie to secure the ciggy lighter socket to the chassis.

Step 8. Cover back the rubber flap and put back the seat and it's 3 screws

Step 9. Earth the socket to a metal part of the bike using a wire.(Optional, but recommended.)

And you are done.

My Ciggy lighter is under the fuel tank, behind the right chrome cover. :)

This problem can be solved by using a longer screw ( 2mm longer ) - I have got some if any1 need - save a lot of time........... :cheer:

Ya, good idea.

Didn't have any with me when I was doing it. :cheeky:

Also don't use one that is too long, (2mm-5mm longer is good) otherwise the heads of the screws will not be able to clam onto the wires tightly because the tip has already hit the bottom and will stop the screw from going any deeper.

can buy from fairprice at esso petrol stations or giant. Called brake fluid less than 10 for a bottle. However, usually its an indication for u to change ur brakepads and the job to be left done by ur motodiam.

Brake oil is the same for front and back... I dont know how much leh, mine has lasted me >3 years :p

It's been 5 years for mine it seems like it has never been used before.. haha.

Mine is used as in opened and used for topups, but that small bottle's still got plenty left haha. So maybe my suggestion is to save money on these, if you want to topup Brake Oil, just go friendly motordiams for a little squirt of it, shouldnt cost anything.

this one is pure useful... i got it from limbat a couple of weeks back... especially if you have plenty of connection to the battery terminal (horns, alarm, ciggy socket, bla bla...) no need to "jack" the square nut up for the screw to "eat"... gone were the days when i have to sweat if i need to disconnect the battery... thanks mate!

Hmm.

If i wanna get the socket, I can just go any shop in Sim Lim Tower? Whats the price range like? I want a water proof kind.

I saw some people posting about making a switch and hide it somewhere so that people cannot use the socket when you are not with your bike. Is it true that people can just use the socket without starting the bike?

What about a fuse? is it necessary? what amp will be good? I will be using it to charge my phone and mp3 player only.

thanks! :cheer:

Perhaps the bulb's high-beam filament got blown, or it doesn't have one. You can check it visually yourself.

Both look ok visually, now the high beam inidcator is working but still no light..

I very very rarely use highbeam anyway so will check out on my next oil change...

Afew more question.. my grip loose liao.. always coming off especially the right one.. can it be rectified by a motordiam or need to get a new set?

Also need to lower my exhaust a little cos the saddle bag rack hitting it.. previously i jut use cable tie to lift it so minimal contact to the exhaust but the cable tie now broke so thought wanna get a more permanent solution. Whis shop can do this?

Sometimes the bulb is f-ed at the start.

Grip loose, if left side, use glue/adhesive. Right side, can loose?? It's supposed to connect to the black switch panel thingy. Should be rectifiable.

Just get a proper rack. Permanent, efficient and cheap.

Can just get it at most auto shops $10+/-

No such thing as water proof one lah!

If you don't want people itchy fingers using your lighter, you got to either hide it or install a switch.

Fuse is good. But I was too lazy to install one. :D

Some say that a small batt is not good for charging handphone.

Is it true?
