hi everyone,

i just bought a 26-year old honda c70. when i towed it to my mechanic, he exclaimed: why did you buy such a lao kok kok bike?!

the bike is laid up and now i would like to go to jb to buy a whole bunch of spare parts to refurbish it. can anyone recommend a shop that:

1. has honest pricing

2. is in a safe location

3. has a good selection of parts + accessories? (i want to restore it to the old-school look)

better yet, if anyone is planning to ride up over the weekend, i volunteer to be the rear safety car.

thanks!

Hi all cub riders, Just to share.

I just renewed the COE for my Honda Supercub C90 for another 10 years.

I then went to the Lim Ban Huat Motor as introduced by a forumite.

Good news is that one of the mechanic (plump uncle with very neat white hair) is familiar with C70 and C90. He has no problem getting spare parts.

As I want my C90 to go strong for another 10 years, I asked him to change my piston, all the oil seals, oil rings, tensioners and the internal chain. The gaskets were also changed and the carb was serviced.

The total cost is $300/-. Not a bad job I say. The receipt has the breakdown of what was changed but it was all written in chinese.

After one of the guys explained the items in details and the uncle showed me the parts changed and what wear & tear, I can only recall that piston is $48 and total labour is $85/-.

Uncle say 4 stroke no need to run in the new piston, but I am going at 70 km/hr now for the next 500 km, before resuming the top 85km/hr before.

Although my C90 is originaly single seat, I asked uncle if he can get single seats. The uncle says he can get single seats for $80/- for cubs and vespas. An additional brackets is needed if the single seat is for pillion.

Hope the info inspires!!

Seems like they have lots of good reviews.

Any idea if they're able to do bore up conversion to 90cc and along with electrics to run on 12v?

Also, do they do entire aesthetics conversion from the modern square headlight outlook to old school roundlight?

i'm checking out options prior to acquiring another cub.

regards all. been hell busy with work.

a new direction, a new inspiration

bro, i changed almost everything including the clutch set. except the left casing that bears the serial no. still running in though.

my mech recommended to change exhaust for a bigger orifice, but i'd rather keep my retro bullet pipe :)

hers a pic of my bike to share..cheers!

My rear suspension for my C90 seems to have hardened. Don'y feel it suspending at all.

They are original and are 10 years old now.

Does suspension need to be replaced? Any recommendation on the two rear suspensions?

I am a Honda bike lover:-

Honda CRM 125, Honda Cub C70, Honda Steed 400VSE

Honda Shadow Slasher 400, Honda XR125L, Honda XR400RW

Honda SuperCub C90 single seater (vintage ride - 43km/l)

Honda NC700X (Smooth tourer around Indochina)

Honda CRF250L (Enduro - 30km/L)

hi ppl, after starting this thread a number of years back I am still surprised it has carried on after so long hehehe. I guess the flame kept burning. I am back with another c70dd to restore but this time its going to be original closest to new. This is my 3rd c70 to date and I will be taking pictures soon on the restoration works probably in jb. I've been through at least 4-5 cheap bikes since then but I am constantly brought back to the chachat charm of the c70dd. It beats no other. Currently its in a really trashed up condition outside my door and I am awaiting to get it inspected so I can ride to jb to get the works done. I am also contemplating a sidecar to match. Well we'll see what happens.

Current rides / Project:

Vespa Super (AL plate)

Kawasaki KSR

Honda C70 (FK plate)

Suzukit Swift Sports (Pending stage 1)

Daihatsu Hijet S100RV Minivan (Another on going project)
