jurong area.....any tips to play corner fast...without skidding

Go to the tracks.

Public roads are not for playing corners simply because the road condition is unknown to you and you can lose your licence for dangerous/reckless riding.

The only way to avoid skidding when cornering is to go slow. The fastest way around a corner is at the speed of almost crashing.

Ride smart... ride safe.

ok...that i already know....still there is a way to go through corners fast without skidding.....just like the professional racers do

First set up your bike suspension to handle fast corners. That means getting the suspension sag correct first. Then stiffen up the damping and rebound of the front forks and rear shocks.

Drop your tyre pressures to track pressures and then warm up the tyres till they reach their operating temperatures..... now you are ready to play the corners like the pros do.

Play corner on the roads without doing all that set up first????

Its like asking to die. Confirm will lowside.

steal this thread for a while. i'm a little confused abt how much pressure to use at track. some pple say subject to conditions. so wat is the rule of the thumb? hot day...less pressure. cool day more pressure or vice versa? or a contant pressure on a well warmed up tires? thanks in advance!

how about closing this thread up before somebody really gets hurt?

desmondekker, tire pressure shoot up extra 3 - 4 or more psi when u are at track. so to play safe, minus 3 or 4 psi b4 going to track.

we are not motor gp racer, we dun have weather man or super hi-tech device to assist us. so we can't really keep up with what's our tire pressure we are in. so normally ppl just drop 3 - 4 psi. depends on individual.

some ppl prefer their tire setting at 28 front while others prefer at 30 front.

Just ride... u wun be sliding if u aren't near the limit anyway. If u do start then most prob u have to work on your throttle control if u already have good tyres and correct pressure.

yo, u want to corner low, u need to carry alot of corner speed....and u dun do corner in 6th gear.....maybe 2nd or 3rd gear.....and u r talking high rpms...about 10k++.

so, since u worried about ur engine and not about ur life, dun bother cornering.

Don't just break your laptimes, SHATTER them!!

if everyone knows how to corner as fast as the gp riders i'm sure there'll be a lot of gp racers in sg already..........so pls dun dream to imitate the gp racers, they r professionals wif lotsa insurance covers n its their full time job to race n to go fast. i wud prefer if the thread starter ask a more rational question, e.g how to enter corner fast like snakeman, hartho or doc dol....or even raptor..... hehe!!!

I have to say this....before you become part of the statistic, and increase insurance coverages nationwide.

Agree with AmbaSnakeskin and Raptured, Johor Circuit is the best place to try cornering. Kent Ridge and Mt Faber, tread with care else you might not even have a chance to get a new bike.

Johor Circuit track surface is good, and who said it is worse than SG road? Maybe the "packaging" of SG road looks appealing, but it's bumpy. Johor Circuit looks crap, but the amount of traction is way better than public road. Period. The appearance of Johor Circuit is only skin deep.

Dun get too involved in the discussions here at "On The Track" until you been on the track....those guys who said Johor Circuit is crap is because they are actually comparing with Sepang, Philip Island, Laguna Seca or some Arizona Go Kart 'tarded tracks. Bear in mind there's a few guys here who race, their comments are as if adults talking, and we are just children listening, catch no ball, so cannot assume  Let's not even get into stuffs like there's rubber laid into the tracks, there's white powder smoothen over oil/fuel spills from crash in a track, cambered turns, power up motivation talks by Syed, energy replenishing fans in the pits, etc....

Do up your bike properly, and then go track. If your bike not good enough to play on the track, what makes you think your bike could play on the road even if you dun fcking care about your life? Low RPM "cornering" simply is a bad habit when you mention "some say correct (speed)gearing, throttle control, body positioning..etc important factors for good, safe cornering" and lots will even say "dun be an idiot on the road".

I admit I go for "spirited rides" out of the tracks, but I would never commit myself to the corners as much as the track (logic wat...). The picture below is some secret testing ground at Jurong.....you can see my fren and I never commit our knees to the road surface yet because it is not safe, we scared.

NoLogicOne, who got raptured? Raptor la...

To the threadstarter: There are cubs on PG going faster than the superbikes. You should bring your bike to track and do your cornering there. I don't enjoy public roads at all because there is always this danger of some other idiot knocking you down and possibly sending you to your grave.
