thank you!

something i learn in psychology, when one is put in a situation whereby he/she faces a crisis like war, there's always two responses. which is either stay and fight or flee..

i would choose to stay and contribute in ways that i can help, because i always believe good karma comes around, that one day when im in need of help, there's always some available..

yup, im in the medical line.. angel in white..

:D hehe

i think singapore can win by fire power , air strike and arti , but by man to man combat , haizzz it will be difficult .... anyway i think de way our army is training our men , is quite 4 pus$Y , too much welfare and to leniet , when i entered de army in 2002 , i was expecting something Tough with no bull Sh|t and totally hardcore training ... but i found it quite relaxing and de approach was quite weak and soft , seen videos of other country army training , and i would say that is wat i call tOUGH! they leopard crawl with their sleeve up and crawl thru smalls rocks !! OuCh that really got to hurt , and they do it so fast!....

anyway back to de topic , i will COmfirm + gurantee + cHop , i will fight for this country , For my family , relatives , friends & for myself!!

just love this country to much , which country can you at nite go down block and wash ur bike alone, and not worrying anything else but ghost ...

which unit were you from? i want to transfer to yours for my reservist ^^

btw, in terms of manpower, we outnumber many regular soldiers in neighbouring countries. imagine all the reservists called back, ALL of them. we can almost drown the enemy with our spit alone  although the recent batches of ns men might have slacked training due to advances in technology (3G soldier bull$sh*t) and training deaths, we still have numbers. war is won mainly with technology now. soldiers simply occupy land and pilot the machines. don't expect any epic battles of countless infantry charging each other with bayonets ala LOTR style. times have changed.

I think it's not far-fetched to say majority of us will be standing on the fence, deciding which side to jump on (i.e run or stay to fight) when the real time comes.

For me, I too, have nothing to fight for. My mom has been long deceased, my dad is safely tucked in another country and my relatives, let's just say they are not aplenty nor close.

What's the point in fighting then? I could easily scoot off cos the only person I will worry about should be my gf (or wife if I am lucky enough).

However, I will still choose to stay and fight, rather than run and hide.

No, I am not patriotic, neither am I diplomatic. Neither am I going to lay my life down on a rifle for the safety of cabinet ministers or the lazing superiors I had back in the army.

I am fighting for the memories. Yeap, the memories.

Memories of my childhood, whereby my dad and late mom brought me to jalan-jalan around these island where I was born, the memories of my teachers who showed me how valuable education is, the memories of my fellow classmates (not just Malays, but EVERY racial offsprings )who became my dearest treasured buddies later in life who will be at my void deck within the hour if I call them for emergencies (tried & tested henceforth, my statement), memories of NDP, Chingay, the various multi-racial festivities whereby my Malay, Chinese, Indian and Eurasian neighbours who never fail to at least say their morning "Hi" to me sincerely and ask about my well-being through my parents and vice-versa.

These are my intangible treasures that I am fighting for. These people and the beautiful memories they had given me to cherish for life (no pun intended).

To say that we can conquer our neighbouring country, is far-fetched. A theory, is just a theory. As long as we can defend ourselves, that's pretty much our defense mode. Not to conquer but to counter.

For those who've seen too much combat movies, please, don't be misled. Our boys will NOT survive the jungle warfare in Malaysia. If I could recall, during one of the joint wargames with Malaysia, (to put myself in a safe pedestal, let me just pretend it wasn't me who was there but my friends yeah?), a section from SAF was putting hold, awaiting the enemy (here, it is the Tentera Darat Diraja Malaysia) on a hill. They've secured the place, swept it clean and ensured no enemies was found within a wide radius.

Before they know it, one by one had a bayonet along their neck from behind. Caught offguard, outwitted and severely outclassed. The reason? They couldnt even hear the Malaysian soldies creeping up behind them. How nasty. A fully grown fit Malaysian soldier who could move steadily in stealth, infiltrate from behind and whilst doing all these, not break a single dry twig in the jungle even though he's in proper heavy battle order. And that was just, A GAME. :)

During my first GMK lesson in Tekong, the CO stated that if we can't win with a matter of 3-4 days? We're gone.

Our Howitzers can carry the fire up to Penang while our counterparts up North have to travel a fair bit southern to smell our shores with their cannons.

That I believe. But to believe an angmoh (God forbid, he has not even served our tri-service NS, what he deduce is just from paper), could meant fatal eventually. Through overconfidence, a disaster is created.

But to say, we will lose hands down and don't bother to give a fight cos we'd lose eventually, I'd say might as well you pack up and leave now, please. Save us the trouble of having to fight alongside you or FOR YOU, for that matter, when the time is needed, since you claimed we have nothing to fight with and to fight for.

I understand sometimes I too have my doubts about our defense, but it's just a normal rant. Not something I will hold clearly and set my mind up with. When it's time to be tested, I'd say let's put a good show.

Isn't it the same as riding a motorcycle pals? How did you know you can't balance on two wheels if you did not even try doing it? Or to put it simpler, do you need to be in a circus to be able to balance nicely on two wheels?

My apologies for the long draft.

the TDDM who had bayonets on our boys were they from malaysia special task force unit.commando? guards?..tats y so swift and stealthy hmhm...

Hi,

Just some 2 cents worth.

In my personal opinion, as long as the war is not fought in Singapore, we have a good chance of surviving.

Comparing all the firepower, air superiority and naval prowess, I dare say compared to the Armies in the South East Asian Region, we are the most technologically advanced army. That is for our weaponry.

About the manpower, we do have a lot. But not so much to sustain more than 1 week of war/battle. Comparing our manpower capability with the other regions, we are somehow lack the battle preparedness. Even our training does not match up to the training other armies did.

In summary, in times of war, its better to fend off the enemy with long range, hard hitting weaponry and use our manpower resources as a last resort.

Yes, I'm proud to say, in times of need, I would be ready to defend Singapore. ALWAYS READY, READY TO STRIKE!:thumb:

will not defend directly, probably assist the wounded ones, leading the children and women or something. i dont believe in killing, if war really come i will probably hesitate to shoot if a enemy is spotted which makes me a bad soldier

Think most ppl don't understand how SG defense works even after they have served NS...

The main force is here. We have very good relationship with neighbours to ensure that our defence line would be far away beyond these neighbours.

Even if they turn against us, there are enough units stationed in other non-Asia countries to ensure quick counter-attack on the enemy's land. Not to mention any bombs land in SG would also hit a foreigner either from US, Europe or Asia. Think their Gorvernment will stay quiet?

Best defense is still friendship and more loyal and die-hard citizens.

*Touch my country and I'll make sure the enemies will be DHL back without their dicks.
