white smoke, either too much 2T or water vapour in the chamber so when start, all the vapour become white smoke...

correct me if i'm wrong.

Observation: White exhaust smoke on start up. Clears after a while.

Cause: Cold start releases white smoke. The white smoke is mostly water vapour, so it will clear after a short while. If smoke persists after your bike has fully warmed up... then you may want to reduce your 2t intake... or use something better.

It could be due to a new stick of ciggie someone cheekily put inside ur exhaust. Once u start the bike, the spark from the spark plug will ignite the ciggie, and thus the ciggie will burn and give out smoke as if someone is smoking it. Thus the reason there is the white smoke. Once the ciggie has burnt out, there will be no more smoke. This is the reason why the smoke stops after a while.

What u can do, is to close ur exhaust exit with a scotchtape, so that others wont cheekily drop a ciggie in the future.

You guys need to state what kind of engine your bike has... details like 2 or 4 stroke, liquid cooled or not, carb or fuel injected, problem occurs when engine is cold or hot, whether at high or low rpms or when throttle is closed or throttle is wide open, high speed or low speed, when you have questions about the probems of your bike.

You don't do that... you gonna invite all the naive or sarcastic answers or advice, some intentionally sarcastic and some genuinely naive, simply becoz you have not provided enough information or background to the defect you are encountering.

I take it that you have a liquid cooled 2 stroke bike.

You have actually answered your own question with the next thread started by you with regards to "milky coloured engine oil".

You either have a leaking head gasket or a cracked engine block. I would think you have a leaking head gasket only.

Its quite hard to crack the block unless you have done modifications that have increased the compression ratio.. which increases the power.

But you said you have an old bike... and if no engine mods have been done before.. than more than likely you have a blown head gasket.

When you park your bike for a long time, the coolant in your engine block will seep through the leaking gasket and enter the combustion chamber and also drip down past the piston and into your oil sump. You can easily find out by looking at your spark plugs - it will be black and wettish. Check the coolant in the coolant overflow reservoir... it might have an oily film floating on top.

When you start the bike... all the coolant will turn into steam and come out of your exhaust looking like white smoke. Becoz when your engine is running, the high pressure generated in the combustion chamber will not allow the coolant to leak back in, the smoke will diminish and not continue.

Blue smoke is the sign of burning 2T/oil. A carb that is tuned or jetted too rich will produce black smoke and water/coolant will produce white smoke.

Better carry spare spark plugs with you coz the bike is going to get harder to start over time unless you change to new plugs.

Becoz it takes time for the coolant to seep into the combustion chamber.. the white smoke is most likely not evident when the time between engine shut off and restart is short. If left overnight... the smoke should be more.

It is also possible coolant is leaking from your coolant pump impeller drive shaft into the engine oil sump. You might want to change that out too coz due to age hardening of drive shaft seals over time.

Ride safe.
