hi i am interested in diy-ing my bike.. have any1 tried using those airbrush with mini compressor pple use to spray models? is it possible using that to spray? how much better is it compared to spray cans? any1 can lend/sell/recommend me where can i get the airbrush and compressor?

hey mate...

 

 

sorry to burst you bubble but i dont suggest you go with mini compressor...

an airbrush is for designs not spraying your bike with your base coat or your 2k clear(lacquer)

spray can lacquer will take forever to dry...

use a spray gun and an industrial compressor... which also can be switch to an airbrush instead of a spray gun...

 

im selling of my compressor if you as im moving into a workshop very soon...

also i can sell my sprare airbrush which is not in use...

Just to share some pics of my DIY respray.

 

Previous owner did not maintain the paint work well, lots of scratch and also dropped the bike b4 causing the right side of the tank to be scrapped off.

So i gave it a go at trying to diy.

 

pics 1 & 2, b4 anything was done.

pic 3, patched up the right side of the tank using expoy putty

your have to lacquer it 1st before masking a design...

unless you using professinoal method of clearing...its quite hard to loose the marking...

wat u mean lacquer first? lacquer already wont have the masking tape mark after take out?

i tried using black tape and it works... maybe u wan to try tat... but advisable tat it is fully dry b4 taping the line...

I got a new black colour windshield which has never been used. It's still smooth and shiny. I want to change the colour to red, so I need to respray it.

 

Do I need to sand off the original paint before spraying over it? I'm using white paint as the base colour.
