Sorry guys my bike gave way and last night & we turned back. Big bro vincekam assisted me to get my bike all the way to my parking lot.

Looks like I have toured it too much. Currently, I'm looking to see what to do with it - either to patch it up again and try to ride or trade-in at a lost (of course) and get another new bike till I get my class 2 and my final upgrade.

 

It has caused me considerable stress and frustration.

What happened to your bike? Sound serious...

Well it started with my Genting ride. On the way back on the last 100+km the bike just died while riding. The bike could be re-started only after 5mins of rest. Rode this way by stopping every 5mins till the rest point. Initially I though it was overheating but during the stop we realised that the engine oil was basically empty. So bought a bottle of 4t and pured in half. After pouring in the half bottle of 4t the bike did not die till I reached GP Esso and then Singapore finally.

 

After this, the next time around I took the ride with vincekam from West Coast Mac to 2nd Link and it was during that period the same symptoms came but this time around even after pouring half a bottle of 4t (remaining from Genting ride) the bike died after 5 mins of riding. So given this situation we had to abandon the trip yesterday. Manage to ride/push (every 5 mins) the bike back to my carpark. Till now I haven't tried to start it up. So tomorrow I'm going to bring it down to the workshop I bought the bike from which is like a 5mins ride from my flat. Though I went to another shop to check out about trade-in option for a new bike.

 

So this is the problem. One thing to note it was during the genting trip that I was duing full throttle quite a bit and constant throttle @ 100-110 for a few hours.

Wah... Quite serious leh... Ride until EO dry up means pistons drying grinding against the bores of the engine block. Its already a miracle that the piston didn't seized...

 

Was it a leak anywhere, or did you install the EO breather or steam cooler contraption?

Sorry bro don't know what these are but the bl**dy mechanic who serviced by bike should have. I just feel the mechanic who sold me this bike did not do a thorough job on making sure of its running condition even after I told him that I will be riding up to Malaysia weekly.

 

No leaking as far as I could tell from the engine but did read on other threads that EO links can happen during riding which you can't tell.

 

I'll look up some old links on what you just mentioned to understand better. Thanks!!

Bro, next time choose a group that suits the TA to go on trip. No point stressing the machine out. End of the day you will service it longer than you ride.

Bro, next time choose a group that suits the TA to go on trip. No point stressing the machine out. End of the day you will service it longer than you ride.

 

Yep. Will try my best to keep away from STX/Goldwing/S4 groups...but sometimes I cannot tahan the itch.

 

Anyway got my bike looked at by a mech and looks good to go now.

You should have checked your engine oil before setting off for long trips. I check mine at every petrol stop. Doesn't take much time, but can save your engine.
