pichudot ... never considered a tank bra bro. wet will encourage damp n rust rite?

BTW - whos selling the tank bras? Will give it some thought! Thanks.

yup I'm wondering too, cos there's once I went for servicing the mech remove the tank bra and I saw some patches of rust over the tank.

I suggest why not use that kind of tank bag which is magnetic?

My fren riding S4 he took his CLS2 at CDC, he also mention that "feel" is about the same as S4... that's why he been thinking if should change or not. :cheeky:

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

however, could it be that the FZ6 at the school is heavily powercut for school circuit use?

The newer FZ6 from 2007 onwards has the new clocks that feature digital speedo & ANALOG Tacho? Anyidea whats the price range like for a 2007 FZ6?

Thanks.

FZ6R

The original FZ6 was a stylish, half-naked, do-it-all middleweight that was let down by a dearth of midrange power and a clutch with a very narrow engagement point. While that model remains in Yamaha’s 2009 lineup, it is joined by a similarly named brother with little in common.

Don’t let the R in the name fool you. The FZ6R isn’t racier than its stablemate. In place of the FZ6’s aluminum frame and swingarm are rudimentary steel components, resulting in a 10-lb weight gain. Simpler front brake calipers, 4mm smaller throttle bodies and a narrower 160mm rear tire are indicative of the bike’s newbie-friendly intentions.

Although the 6R shares the basic engine architecture of the 6 (based on the previous-generation R6), it is fitted with a new cylinder head, crankcase, clutch and shifter. Yamaha reps have told us that the new motor has much better mid-range power.

Chassis geometry has been relaxed for a more stable platform. Its 26.0-degree rake is 1-degree shallower, and its trail goes up slightly (0.3 inch). Wheelbase remains at 56.7 inches. Newbies will appreciate a reasonable seat height of 30.9 inches, which feels much lower than the 31.3 inches claimed for the FZ6. Ergonomics are customizable with a seat that can be raised 20mm and a handlebar that can be pivoted forward 20mm.

While the FZ6 has a tidy quarter-fairing for wind protection, the FZ6R is endowed with a wide full fairing and much taller windscreen. It looks svelte in profile, but it’s a bit bulky looking from the front end. Another key styling detail is the under-engine exhaust system.

The FZ6R will hit dealers in January. Pricing starts at just $6,990 for the Raven version; add $100 for the blue, white or yellow models. The FZ6, meanwhile, retails for $7,290.

Could it mean that the current FZ6 will be ending soon & eventually, the line up will be XJ6, XJ6 Diversion & FZ6R ?

Nope. The FZ6R is basically an el-cheapo newbie bike built for the US market. The FZ6 still remains the standard middleweight nekkid.

If you've seen pics of the 6R, you'll see that it does indeed has a steel tube cradle frame.... ie the same type of frame on a Super 4. One steel tube goes over the engine (under the tank centerline). Not the twin spar aluminium frame that is prevalent on sportbikes (and as is on the FZ1 and FZ6).

As they said... the R is just a marketing tool. The bike looks fierce, but it will probably not be fantastic in handling or performance.

Ultimately, it's a beginner's bike.

yes i agree its a cheapo manufactured bike:cheeky:

yamaha intention was to create a bike solely for beginners and women. So they ditch out the useless parts and made a bike purely good on the outlook.

Haha, nice way of putting it.

I tot it will be like SSDC whereby the CB 750 is massively power cut

I definitely prefer the clocks on the 07 model onwards. :)

The baby G clocks dont go down well with me.

No doubt, but if the price is "beginner" too...then I may consider.

Under normal riding conditions in SG should be still noticebly stronger than most 2A bikes. But the look fierce hor. Got posing value... haha

Does she even realize I'm here?

Yup. Think of it as a bigger engined Super 4, with a monoshock and nice fairings. :D

Cannot say until like that.

Crotch rockets are good for adrenaline junkies. Better for performance riding or track use. Fazers are too soft to go all out on the track.

Between the FZ1 and 6, have to decide what's your motivation....

Both can tour, but the FZ1 can tour at a higher speed... or the engine will be turning at a lower rpm and is less stressed at any given speed. Plus it will give you more power... and more kick for sure. :D

The FZ6 can tour also, but additionally will be easier to live with in a day to day town situation, where the FZ1 will be hotter, heavier, and consume more fuel. It may have less power, and not as much of a kick as the 1... but... oh well, life's a compromise, ain't it? :D

I already owned the crotch rocket in my siggy pic. And compared to FZ1, they are the same.

FZ1 tuned more for low/mid torque. Top end lose out to R1.

It still feels like 1000cc. Just that higher revs, it's not so quick.

Having said that I've also owned an FZS600 2 yrs back. And it feels like a 600. Have to rev the tits off it to get acceleration. That's the characteristics of a 600 I guess.

If you ask me personally, I'll tell you straight... I can't enjoy myself riding a 600. Can't feel anything.

No offence to 600 riders. It's just my personal gut feeling after owning two 1000s and a 600.

Fuel consumption can be quite bad in town. Looking at average 14 km/l. And the younger guys have to consider insurance too. :D
