Actually... their "de-tuning" is more towards changing

- cam (cam profile affects valve timing, and that affects the torque/power curve)

- ECU (ignition timing, fuel/air ratio)

- Gear ratios

i believe they change the bore x stroke too?

i missed the smooth power of 600cc,litre bike is rough and u feel the vibration above 180km/h,my prev cbr600 can feel the smoothness at top speed of 265km/h..

erm what litre bike you comparing with?

a big cruiser?

find it hard to believe.

a litre bike have so much more hp and torque than most 600cc.

From small cc all the way to big cc straight> Most of old riders or even the instructors will say....If u have the confidence, the right attitude and not the show-off type, know u're limits before u do anything with u're ride. Have all the safey keys to initiate, by all means....

Nope.

Engine is basically the same. Same bore and stroke completely.

Lower compression though.

strange, for FZ6 and R6, seems like it's different.

actually after trying FZ1 and FZ6, i personally feel FZ1 is more sports-oriented vs touring than FZ6.

the seating is slightly more aggressive, also the handle bar and rake angle.

Right.

That's 'cos the 06-08 FZ1 is based on the last generation R1... aka the 04-06 R1. Not the 07/08 R1.

So the current FZ6 is based on the last generation R6... aka the 03-05 R6. ;)

That's how Yamaha does their nekkid bikes.

Remember, if they let you have their latest Supersport technology on what is essentially a bargain bin bike.... (face it... the nekkid bike is a bargain bin bike in their eyes... they get trickled down tech)... then it would affect sales on their flagship models.

This tradition is carried on even in Honda. Their 2008 CB1000R receives it's engine from the last generation Blade.... 06/07 Blade. :)

that's the standard for the big 4 bike manufacturers. once the supersport is past it's prime, slot that engine into a naked bike and detune it, voila, we have a 'new' model. makes it more affordable for the general riding community who are not so picky about performance.

But like that also not too bad. At least we can taste the power of an R1/R6 without getting the latest one. Only that the feel of it is diff.

For commercial companies, the main aim is $$ and redoing a new engine will cost a bomb. If i were the boss i will also do it this way.

I fully agreed that why I am thinking of going back 600cc. For my case i am really slower when on a 900cc..or is just me...

I cant fully open the throttle when exit the corner, and is a pain ride on SG road cos of the higher gear ratio. I am sure those who ride 1000cc cant move to the top gear when you are at 40-70km/h. But for 600cc no problem as the rpm is at 2500-3500rpm which is enough not to feel the engine "rocking" unilke the >900cc bikes had >2000rpm at this speed.

For those who boost about the latest 1000cc model they had but have load of chicken strip on the tires....I am there are alot of riders falls under this kind of cat...just fast on the straight i would say....hee hee nothing for me to respect. Except the "bling" factor..

Ask yourself .....are u willing to commit yourself on own a bigger bike?

As bike C.C increases, it means u jolly well have to fork out more on installments, taxes, insurances, maintenance and accessories , personal debts....etc etc plus the ever increasing of our petrol here.

Some never consider all this while jumping without hesitation, in the end bike has to push in.

As for me, No matter wat it takes, i will hold onto my R1.:thumb:

seems like the discussion here is about mainly on fz6 fz1 and its relative...wat about 2b to a cls 2 cruisers?like HD with minimum engine of 889? is there much of a difference compared to the road bikies mention here?since the myth of 600cc bike is sufficent for sg road then what about crusiers?does the myth applies also to these heavy bikes?
