any bike that u wan it to look clean n nice, effort have to b put in. no such thing as no effort put in, got clean bike. even show room bike will collect dust. so dun talk about on the road bike.

got show off or no show off, u know , ppl know, i dun know.

polishing of stainless steel or titanium headers, its pure common sense that the owner need to polish it to maintain the shine. no such thing as no polish got shine. n to get a high standard of finishing, its oso common sense that good polish gives good finishing. u pay for wat u get. no such thing as cheap n good.

LOL!...well said indeed..just commonsense. Anyway..there nothing new about this..and has been brought out and spoke about donkeys weeks threads ago at ..check out the images there...meguair Nxt was first ever introduce there..LOL!

QN on Revo:

crach bar : 3 PT CRASH BAR same as those spec 3?

Header polish: (Those used the polish before):

Will the polish take out the protective coating on the headers (i.e the headers more prone to get black/"bronze")?

Not sure of other brand of headers but they do seem to 'tarnished' easily again..or worst..showing black patches. This could likey be the quality its mde...but the original stock steel header for PB1 shine pretty stable for quite sometime.

Saw one Revo header the other day...looks like it is easily tarnished..like blackish brown like dat.

my personal opinion, titanium or stainless steel headers do not have protective coating. unlike aluminium, oxide form on the surface to prevent corrosion. the material itself will not rust n blacken. BUT when heat is introduced, with the position they r in which is just behind the wheels n near the ground, all the dust n dirt will stick on the headers. heat will melt down the dust n dirt, n hence stick on the headers. therefore it accumulates n will look dull after time without polishing.

as for polishing, with high shine standard, use non-abrasive metal polish. personally recommand liquid polish. n of cos, how much u pay is how much u get. one might think $20 for a bottle of polish is ex. but come to think of it, it gives a better finishing n a bottle can last u for a few bikes n other home usage.

how to polish:

as long as u got the bike, polish it as soon as possible. cos the headers is clear of any coating so it stains easily. the longer u drag, the more dirt is accumulated n hence, when u finally decide to polish, u will have to polish for long hours.

another kiasu tips. after metal polish, use wax to polish. wax is oso a cleaning agent if u dunno that n it will leave a coating on the header. no worries of heat though. after the wax, apply a thin coating of oil n the headers is good to go.

how to maintain the shine:

simply use water to clean the headers every week or after a ride in the rain. with the wax n oil coating, it prevents the dust n dirt from sticking on the headers. water will do the job. if the coating is not there, re-apply the oil or just wax will do. metal polish? 5 to 6 weeks once, shd b no prob.

wow! veri knowledgable! thx for the tips dude! now i know what i want to do to my headers

the headers for revo is stainless steel n its almost chrome finishing. m i right to say that? but when u roll out the bike, there shd b a layer of 'oxide' on the header n there is a need to strip to its original state. since bike is new, its easy to polish it to it original condition. n just maintain its condition from then.

most riders i believed is they do not know wat happened to the headers after riding sometime n dunno wat to do with it. a little guidance n advise will do the job.

Hello! I'm kinda new to my bike too...Oh and I'm riding the Revo. Very cool bike I must admit.

Just wanna find out about crash bar. How's it supposed to help? I got it for free when I bought my bike. Was told by some friends that crash bar doesn't help much. So I wanna noe what are the advantages and disadvantages of having a crash bar.

Oh and thankz for sharing the info about the polish. :)

Motivation sliders better or 3 pt crach bar?

Which you prefer?

Anyone?

Motivation sliders are nicer and will not cause vibration unlike crash bars but i still prefer the crash bars

3 point crash bar is not as good as it sounds. there r certain cases whereby rider just drop the bike, shape of the crash bar is out n nearly touches the fins of the engine. reason is the crash bar is a hollow bar. n unsuitable crash bar fitting will cause vibrations to the bike too.

for sliders, it looks alot better compared to crash bar but then the ability to absorb the impact n prevent damage to the engine depends on the way the bike falls. though the slider manufacturers claim their sliders gave the best support n protection to the bike.

comparing sliders to crash bars, sliders is made of a special breed of plastic n crash bar is made of metal. so which is better? up to individual to decide.
