Hi all, just order a brand new Revo otr at $17900 think does not come with abs forget to ask haha. Is this a good price?

Sorry ah. Wanna ask u few questions. From which shop did u order from? Local or parallel import bike? The price is it including the interest u loan from bank?

hey guys, i got a question. will be going for inspection soon but i got front and back led signal lights. can i pass inspection?

Depends on your lights. If it's good quality and bright enough like the Rizoma ones sold at Motoworld, should be able to pass. If it's those cheapo, "can't see blinking lights from 5 feet away" type, fail.

any of u revo owners installed plug n go kits from wingyap.. it is said to improve performance of the bike.. would like to noe if it does benefit our bike..

Not sure what kits you're referring to. Best is to research and ask for Dyno proof. I'd stay away from shops that make all sorts of claim but can't back it up with Dyno charts. To me, these things are just "snake oil".

That's the beauty of the Revo. You won't feel any jerk because the fuel injector mapping has taken care of the VTEC boost. End result is a linear acceleration. This means that when you open your throttle, the bike just accelerates smoothly all the way to red line without any sudden jerks.

This is a good thing because I've heard of some inexperienced bikers riding Specs 1-3 who lost control of the bike when the VTEC kicks in. The "kick in" may be fun initially but I personally prefer smooth linear torque curves. Sudden boosts of power while overtaking in traffic can get you killed... :)

Good price or not would depend on your age, riding experience and NCB history right? This is because OTR includes insurance. This is why I always prefer to talk in terms of machine price. Whilst COE may fluctuate depending on when you buy and insurance depends on each individual's history as mentioned, machine price, interest rate and misc fees are the basis to compare from one shop to another.

Be wary of the source of information for your bike's maintenance. Some FAQs are compiled by people who lack the technical know how.

Your qns has been answered i guess :p

Nope. Seems ex to me. Attached to spark plug cables, 1 each cable, total max can fit 12pcs for S4 as seen from the pic.

Revo is alot smoother than carb models, tats y u nv feel any jerk but u experienced the surge right?

I presume you got a 2nd hand bike thus trying out the vtec.

Due to current machine price and COE and other fees, its the market price presently.... +/- a bit varies wif different bike shops.

Sorry ah. Wanna ask u few questions. From which shop did u order from? Local or parallel import bike? The price is it including the interest u loan from bank?

Price not included interest i guess, bike shop will loan from fianance company or bank supposingly.

Need more clarification from the new owner :)

BTW, you've already ordered right? No need to ask anymore lah. If we say expensive, you also can't do anything, right? Just wait to collect and enjoy the ride, mate. Congrats and welcome! :)

Any Feelings of changing the Exhaust?

Wat apps. Me

How to whatsapp you when I don't have your number? LOL

My feelings ah? :)

1) Well, I wouldn't bother with full systems, especially 4-1 mid-pipe systems. 4-1 mid-pipes will take away about 2-2.5 inches of ground clearance. People who fitted them have problems clearing the humps at Kaki Bukit Autobay and M'sia side causeway CIQ. This ground clearance issue is important for me.

2) Performance advantage?

IMHO, I enjoy and do ride fairly fast when I go up north. Without meaning to boast or anything, on the way back from a recent trip to KL, 5 superbikes (think Fireblades, R1, S1000 and GSXR) were also on the way back to SIN after their Sepang track day. Saw them in my mirrors and I let the first 2 bikes pass me. Then I got itchy and decided to chase

To cut a long story short, traffic was about medium to heavy thus allowing fast filtering. Only the first 2 bikes remained in front most of the way back. The other 3 bikes were behind me most of the time. Only when the roads were clear after the first toll booth after Kulaijaya were they able to overtake and leave me behind due to their much higher top speeds. When we pulled up at Shell GP, I wasn't very far behind.

My bike is stock. Only performance mods I made were K&N filter and the 520 chain & sprocket conversion. This 520 conversion, btw is one of the best mods any biker can do for performance gains (relatively inexpensive for its benefits). I'm also running NGK Iridium IX plugs.

So, with only these enhancements on a 400cc bike, I could outride 3 superbikes. Do I want to spend $1.8-2.3k for full systems? No thanks. I'd rather keep the money and enjoy the Revo as it is. When the time comes that I feel I need more power for trackdays or longer distance touring, I'll upgrade to a bigger CC bike. That 2k is downpayment settled, mate! :thumb:

3) Soundtrack

I still like the stock exhaust sound on my bike. It's getting a bit more bassy from when I first bought it. This, I attribute to my "training"...

However, if I do get tired of the sound and I want something louder, I'd go for Leo Vince. Cheap and good is best!

Hope this helps.

@Mdreza

Oh, I've only recently came back to biking and had to take my 2B all over again! (long story but not becoz of revoke or anything like that). Anyway, when I was riding by 2b bike (Daelim Roadwin R125), I took it to PG and had loads of fun! I haven't had the time to that my Revo on track yet but I'm sure when I do, it will be superb!

Why am I relating this? Your question begs another question from me: what do you want to use your bike for?

If you're going to race, then by all means go full system. But then again, even though I enjoy track days, I still won't go full system. This is because track days may only be like 5% of my time spent riding. The other 95% of the time in street conditions, the clearance matters a lot. Now, if I want to race or have a track bike, it's a different matter altogether.

For track days, is the performance gain from full system worth the money or is that money better spent elsewhere? Do remember also that full systems would need a PCV to re-tune the fuelling. Yes, there is definite benefits but remember to add $500+ ok?

How about upgrading the suspensions so the bike handles better in the corners? I would certain go with a suspension upgrade. If still got money to spend? Well, after the suspension works and you're a reasonably good rider who can extract the performance from the bike, sure. Do it!

Another point I have with people spending unnecessary money on mods is that these fellows just want to pose at bike meets. Typical one-up man ship!

One Revo biker who wanted to sell me his bike, when I was still shopping, comes to mind. Me: So, why are you selling?

He: I want to get an R1!

(So I'm now thinking this guys must be a lacer...)

Me: Wow! So, how fast have you gone on this Revo? Often go up north or track?

He: No lah... my fastest was only 120km/h on the ECP and I've never rode outside of Singapore. Don't intend to go Malaysia or do track days even with the R1...

My mind was screaming WHY!! Why bother getting an R1?! Aiyoh, *faint*! Another poser...

I also started to think his bike wouldn't be a good buy for lack of "exercise".

I've been spending time chit chatting with the bike shop salesman whom I bought my Revo from. Nice guy, so make friends already. His shop sells quite a lot of bikes and his customers also spend money "upgrading" exhausts and etc. One day, he revealed that his shop re-possess on average 10-15 bikes a month. These fellow can't even pay the installments and they went and spent money on mods! Sigh...

So, do ask yourself: "What do I want to do with my bike?" How long do I want to keep this bike? Upgrade? Got budget?

True story bro. How fast do u get to be if u only ride around sg roads? After hearing the ferrari incident i now look twice before i even cross the roads. Green light also dun dare go liao. Lolll

Btw. Kinda interested about the part where u mentioned about 520 chain conversion. What benefits does it give? Where did u do the conversion at? Pricing?

Currently i m riding a bajaj pulsar. When i changed my chain and sprocket to an indonesia brand "sinnob". I could feel distinct smoothness in my riding. So i believe some goodness can come out of a well done chain conversion.

Regarding the mods, some might feel its unnecessary, some feels it helps and enhance riding experience, depends on wat individual looking for.

Some mods are indeed for showcasing which serves no other purpose.

re-possession is wat happen when ppl cannot handle their spendings, Something tat u wan and something tat u need is two different thing, One preceive to need a full system will be willing to spend money on it.

Everything can be found here

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/346588-FAQ-and-Information-about-Honda-CB400-Revo-NC42

Gosh.....guess needa cut & paste from there again........

Pricing varies among different brand of sproc & chain.

Bigger rear or smaller front sproc for pick up.

smaller rear or bigger front for top end/expressway cruising.

520 chain conversion on the REVO.

There was a speedo diff of 9% against Rear Wheel SPD, this 520 translated only a diff of 3% deficiency.

Stock chain setup for CB400 is 525 chain/sproc.

Sprocket sizing F15 R43 ( For Vtec ).

520 conversion available.

Pro: Lighter, Faster pickup.

Con: Wears out faster than 525.

Smaller front sproc or bigger rear sprocket results in better acceleration but lousy top end.

( Good for urban/city riding )

Bigger front sproc or smaller rear sproc results in better top end but slower acceleration.

( Good for touring or long journey trips, good for daily expressway users )

( This setup saves fuel as engine will not be that stress compared to urban setup when travelling on expressway)

Regarding different brands of sproc & chain, usually aftermarket chains are around the same quality, personal preference of which brand of chains to choose from.

For most aftermarket sproc are made from aluminum, its lighter in weight but wears out faster than original sproc if not well taken care of. Personal preference of which brands to choose from.

Do ur research in finding ur favourite chain + sproc setup.

Remember to take care of the chain/sproc for Longevity.

I think it would be helpful to clarify what we mean by "feel". If we all go by feel alone, sure die because as bikers all of us are afflicted by this "bling upgrade syndrome." The symptoms are this shiok feeling when you step into a mototiam and see all these shiny new stuff and then you'll go gaga.

Can fit my bike or not? Can! Sure can go faster? Yes, sure! Got discount or not? For you can lah... Pay by card ah? OK.

LOL... sounds familiar?

Note above scenario where biker "feel" like mod just mod. Biker gian already never even ask for proof or go home to cool down and do more research on the product before deciding to buy or not. End result is hole in wallet with little or no real world performance gain.

Stock chain setup for CB400 is 525 chain/sproc.

Sprocket sizing F15 R43 ( For Vtec ).

For Revo, stock is: F15 R44/45

Ehhhh paiseh la sparkers bro. Didn't know it was a sprocket size related issue. :x got read ur faq n stuff ah. Just that sometimes forget some terms here and there! :)

The 520 conversion is not about gear ratios.

Here is my post in another forum (cut and paste again lor... Who going to buy Sparker and me coffee? :))

My chain & sprocket set-up

Chain – DID VX2 Gold

Front Sprocket – Driven hardened and balanced steel. 15 Teeth.

Rear – Driven anodized, drilled for weight saving and balanced. Gold. 44 Teeth.

I did the 520 conversion because of the massive weight savings. It’s proven that lower unsprung weight results in better (effective) transfer of power to the rear wheel. This means better throttle response (squeeze throttle a bit and the bike moves in response). Raceworks have also documented their Dyno results for the 520 conversion on the Revo showing the better throttle response. They have also found that speedometer error was reduced from the stock set-up at 10% error to only 3% with the 520 set-up.

To get an idea of the weight savings, just pick up a box of DID 520 chain and compare it to it’s 525 brother. What difference you feel is only from the chain. Add sprockets weight savings and you’ll get the idea.

Front sprocket – I chose this Driven sprocket because a fellow S4 rider I trust has indicated that it is better (more balanced and lasts longer) than Honda OEM. After fitting it for about 2 weeks, I must say I agree.

Rear sprocket - I wanted AFAM Gold anodized 44T. They didn’t have stock so I went for Driven. I wanted some bling on the rear, so gold anodized is the choice. If I wanted longer lasting, light weight and balanced rear sprockets, the choice would have been AFAM steel. It is matte black and is made in Belgium, AFAM’s HQ. (Gold ones are made in Japan).

Why? Two friends who ride Ducati 1098 (which is much more powerful and has lots more torque than S4) use it. It has lasted them more than 2 years and is still good, even with regular track days.

[Censored some idiot's comments tryingto argue with me. Sianzzzz. Then posted following explanation]

I think Mr XYZ has put this topic well in perpective. My personal choice was made because:

- I want to take advantage of even the smallest performance gain by reducing unsprung rotational weight.

- For me, changing chain and sprockets set once every year or 1.5 years is not an issue.

- I don't want something that will last me forever because I'm hoping to sell and upgrade in 2 years. 1 year if my wallet and GF says ok... :)

- From above point, and like some if not most bikers, we're always itchy to see if we can do good mods so we can get the best from our bikes. Women do retal therapy on clothes and etc. Spending on bikes is our retail therapy lor... That's part of the fun of being a biker.

- For this set-up that I did, I maintained the same gear ratio (front 15/rear 44) as before so I can feel the difference for myself.

- I haven't even started playing with gear ratios. I certainly don't want to wait 2-3 years for this chain-set to wear out before I get to change sets with new ratios. Mod-ding is one thing but mod-ding for the sake of mod-ding is just a waste of money. Even if my wallet is deep enough I won't waste money changing chain/sprocket-sets frequently just to "experiment".

Unsprung Rotational Weight simply means the weight of those components that rotate in order to move the bike forwards. These components include chain, sprockets, wheels and tyres. Some may include the weight of the swingarm but then you're getting into WSB or MotoGP race specs already.

Why is Unsprung Rotational Weight important? Physics! It’s what we learnt in school in a basic science class.

The engine generates power through combustion which is then translated into rotational movement by the use of conrods and gears. So you now have a running engine with a spinning front sprocket. That front sprocket spin is then transferred to the rear wheel by the chain. The rate of spin is increased by the use of a larger sized rear sprocket. Remember that the rear sprocket in bolted to the wheel, which is fitted with the tyre plus the rear disc brake rotor. These 4 components are thus considered as one complete assembled part.

Now, engine generates 52hp (i think) for the Revo. That power can only be effectively translated/converted to rear wheel power through the chain and sprocket. How much of that 52hp power is translated into rear wheel motion depends on the Unsprung Rotational Weight and the condition of the chain and sprockets set. That rear wheel motion is the one that counts and this is why Dynos measure power output at the rear wheel.

So, here is the principle: It takes more power to move something that is heavy. Rotating mass also create inertia and gyroscopic effect that affect the balance of the spinning object (rear wheel). This has an indirect effect on rear wheel power.

From above, it thus follows that Lower Unsprung Rotational Weight = more effective power transfer.

So, how to reduce unsprung weight?

- Reduce chain and sprocket weights

- Reduce wheel weight

- Reduce tyre weight

- Reduce brake disc weight

Do remember that weight reduction must be done within limits so that the component is still strong enough to handle the power exerted on component. Otherwise it will just fail resulting in loss of life and limb.

This weight reduction principle is why the 520 conversion is the first thing MotoGP, WSB and other race engineers do to the race bikes. It’s the least expensive mod for the benefit you get. It is also why light aftermarket components like the following sell for so much money:

- Wheels such as Marchesini aluminium & magnesium alloy wheels (about S$2.5k/set) and BST carbon wheels (GBP2,250).

- Brake discs like Galfer

Yeap. Today after my last exam i went down to bukit merah. Went to ask HKL, Universal Motors and another shop which i forgot the name about buying a revo. All quote me the price around 17,500 plus minus OTR w/o insurance. They said they could accept my pulsar trade in for around 3.5k. i thought it was quite alright. Although what UM offered me was the price for a parallel import unit.

Is it true parallel import not as good as agent bike? :p i understand some of the main differences between PI n Agent. Just that i keep thinking more expensive thing = better quality right? Hahaha.

And somemore i THINK i read somewhere in the earlier pages of this forum about warranty for a new revo was that it would be 2 years warranty with unlimited mileage?? Seems like its not the case now. All 3 shops said that it would be 1 year or 10,000km whichever comes first. :(

Anyway i can try to sell my pulsar for 4.5k or so on this forum. If Not maybe just push to trade in! JOIN U GUYS SOON! Can enrol in 3 weeks time! :)

But stupid TP must wait two months plus. Haiiii
