Tokyo Show: 2008 Honda CB400SF and CB400SB unveiled

By MCN News Desk

New bikes

26 October 2007 09:45

The Tokyo Motorcycle Show has opened to the public today, and one of the new motorcyles on display is the 2008 Honda CB400.

The 2008 Honda CB400SF and the 2008 Honda CB400SB are differentiated by a retro-style fairing, but both feature a new engine, with fuel injection. Previously the CB400 has used a carburated engine which has not been able to meet emission levels to be sold in Europe. But with fuel injection on the new motorcycles, it raises the possibility that both the 2008 Honda CB400SF and 2008 Honda CB400SB could become available in the UK and Europe.

See more on all the motorcycles unveiled at the 2008 Tokyo Motorcycle Show in Motorcycle News, out October 31, 2007

If the Honda CB400SF and SB are available in Europe, would you be interested in one?

guess its a NEW engine WITH fuel injection(PGM-FI). so with that, the engine shd b different from the S4 that most r riding now. therefore maintenance can expect to b slightly different if engine parts were to come into picture. the chrome headers is definitely a strong attraction for this bike. since CB400 is a retro-style bike, chances of having monoshock setup is very unlikely or almost negligible...

anyway, new engine with slight new look, we can expect a new performance from the vtec revo...

:thumb: I do agree the new one is not very impressing in outlook, but hey S4 is not a bike to show off, so i don't think racing technology like monoshock, inverted fork...ect will be even considered in its design, the target is to come out a bike with economical FC, affordable price yet with reasonable performance and outlooking, that's why we can see it is so popular in our streets.....for ppl who got S 11 and want to show, you may always mod it to whatever u like or opt for sports bikes, harley davison.... :dot:

as said by MCN, CB400 is a retro style bike, so for outlook, there is not much of a change. monoshock n inverted fork is NOT racing technology. Fazer 1 is a street bike but it got monoshock n inverted fork. so wat does that means? it means its a good stuff that gives better handling n riding comfort which i think is very important. for a 400cc street bike, fc is about the same. its the riding style that is different that makes the fc so different.

Just out of curiosity, why is it called a cb400 revo instead of "spec iv"?

I seem to remember a random fact, claiming that in Japan (or China), that the number 4 means "death" so its a very unlucky number, thus the very reason the new cb400 will not be designated spec iv?

Awww, but spec iv sounds so cool!

Racing pushes technology go upfront, normal fork is stable enough if u wanna go at 90km/hr! Everybike can have all these things installed, its just a matter of $$.....but why all sports bikes have all these, cos they need them and they are designed for racing!!

parts that is designed, they got their own characteristic n purpose. b it twin or mono, normal or inverted, they r useful. if not, bike makers wun wanna use it. the R&D dept will decide on which type of suspension to use. either the best or the normal ones.

The calipers looked like a 6 potter and the exhaust looked like a one piece design. Might have to change to full sys if u wanna change the exhaust...

cant really see the 'abs'... unlike VFR and STX, where you can see the 'rail' beside the front brake disc...

anyway, honda is always so conservative... i think they should really do a major revamp with S4...

honda has really gone retro with the super4, dressing it with the boldor design and the projectBig1-like exhaust system and the not-nice unpainted engine.i personaly dislike the latter coz it sticks out like a sore thumb. The 1st model pb1 ,which i owned, came with this raw color engine.when the bike is filthy or it's paint fading out,the whole thing really look dowdy.i prefer the black out engine the current specs.another thing i notice abt this new super is the heat sink on the piston block.there's only 3 rows.Quite similar to pb1.

.....hmm...gimme the new Hornet anytime
