Do you know of a good place to get side mirrors for nouvo?

actually I have a problem of not being able to see directly what's directly behind me using the stock mirrors. Maybe it's because my shoulders are wide. Was told the way to overcome this is to use mirrors with longer shafts but was concerned about hitting cars' side mirrors.

any recommendations or live with the issue? was thinking of fixing rear camera and a lcd monitor like those used on buses.

Dear all,

FYI. I skid while slowing down in front of the Yishun Interchange. What exactly happened was that Last Sunday, I went out with my friends. On my way back to yishun, it was raining. The floor is slippery and I ride slowly. Upon reaching the traffic light in front of yishun interchange, I saw that it was red light. I slowed down the vehicle using engine break followed by intermittent breaking. Suddenly, before coming to a stop, I feel that the wheels do not have any contact with the ground. I hold on to the handle bar tightly and the bike skid towards the left and I fell on my right side together with the bike. Luckily it was late at night and not much vehicles. 2 taxi drivers saw me on the floor and ask if I am alright. After that they quickly push my bike to the roadside. I slowly regain conscious as the impact was quite bad. I could feel that my heart almost stop beating at the moment when I fell. The next day, I went to Yamaha for my 1st 1000km servicing. I checked with them on the condition of the tires but they say that it is ok. As for my helmet, I bought a GPR helmet from them and I throw away my current helmet as it was too long.

There was a few questions that I have in mind.

I believe that riding in the rain is not advisable as these does not depend on the brakes and the tires but also depend on the ground that is in contact with the bikes.

Another things is that Is there any better tires that actually has a firmer grip for Nouvo?

first time u skid on a bike? lucky nothing serious happened.. anyway its all part of learning experience in handling a bike, esp in raining weather.

i believe that even if u get the most expensive tyres such as battlax, it would not guarantee 100% skid-proof... it all depends on the riders experience and reflex..

last sunday, i experience 'aquaplaning' while riding my vespa.. lucky for me, i didnt fall.... manage to get control of my bike at the last second.. not saying i very experience lah.. but after skidded for 3 times before, i know how to react when the bike feels like skidding..

good tyres come in handy, but its all abt experience bro..

btw, first time i heard of taxi drivers actually show concern for bikers.. haha..

I have 6 months more riding experiences and this is what I do from limited exposure:

A. Avoid riding in rain if possible and take alt transport.

B. If need to ride in rain, make sure rider and bike are well prepared. This includes but is not limited to clear visor, good raincoat, gloves, properly inflated tyres, good tyre thread, good brakes, good lights

C. Avoid road markings, manhole covers and cement floors.

D. Avoid hard acceleration and braking.

For me, I like to wear my army boots, keep the laces tight to give good ankle support and keep one or both feet close to ground when I feel I might fall. Not a good habit, but it did helped in a few occasions. Keep focused and know that you need to reach in one piece and that loved ones are waiting for you. This prevents me from taking risks and doing foolish things that I may regret later.

Actually it's normal that adrenaline goes up when you sense danger and the mind sees things in slow motion. Like Neo in Matrix dodging bullets. Natural reflex for young people but goes away with age. So better don't depend too much on it. Bottomline. Come back in one piece.

Aquaplaning is when u go over water at a certain speed and water gets in between ur tyres and the road. It'll feel like there's oil on the road and u can't control the bike.

Sorry to learn about your accident:pity:. What you mention is only about the bike conditions. What important is whether you sustain any bodily injuries. Be careful bro. For me i'm still using stock IRC. I only will maintain my speed at around 60km/h to 70km/h during rain or wet surfaces. The above post from our fellow Nouvoeans, i strongly advise that you adhere.
