Forget about NTUC. My bike was stolen many years back with CCTV evidence to proof. When I went down for interview, I was interrogated by 3 guys in an "interrogation" room. In the end, I was denied a claim, simply because I did not canvas my bike and padlock the wheels. They classified it as negligence. WTF right?

I guess most insurance companies are like that. But I am no longer willing to take my chances with NTUC, ever again.

That is a freaking load of bullshit from the insurance companies :rolleyes:. Given their example, everything can be left to negligence (never put steering lock etc). Wonder if CASE will consider cases like this?

Current Rides:

FEB 07 -> NOV 08 [CBR 150]

AUG 08 -> AUG 12 [XJR400]

AUG 12 -> ??? [DUCATI MONSTER 696]

NTUC is very particular about details before you make the claim.

Other companies you may wanna try your luck.

And the "details' are always against your favour. Seriously, I felt like a blardy criminal in the interrogation room. Got threatened and spoken to like a criminal. I felt extremely intimidated, so just orh orh okay okay.

The interrogators will dig out all the info in a threatening manner, and then use that against you and deny your claim. One good example was them telling me there is a CCTV present. If I was found to be lying, they will throw me in jail for fraud. At least 10 years etc etc. After the terrible ordeal, i found out that all 3 of them are ex-CID.

If you need to canvas the bike and padlock the wheels to make a claim, i guess 99% of bikes under NTUC will be denied one if it gets stolen.

And according to my then bikeshop, it always happens with NTUC! Many claims were denied for the most ridiculous reasons.

If there is substantial evidence that your bike was really stolen (eg CCTV) I don't see why they should deny your claim. There could be one or two elements that you were unable to provide that is why the denial.

Even if your claim is denied, you can still approach the Financial Institutions Dispute Resolution Centre (FIDRec) to appeal your case.

I don't think NTUC is that bad as you sound it to be. Their claims may be a bit longer than normal but that goes to show that they are thorough and aims to be 100% accurate in terms of claims payout.

Imagine if every single claim they are paying out, every year their premiums will go higher. And this affects us consumers who are taking up policies from them.

Therefore the only way to keep premiums low is to assess every case thoroughly to ensure that the payout is legit.

It's almost ten years ago. That time still young. Now then realised my foolishness.

Bike handle lock - Check

CCTV evidence - Check

Key not placed on bike - Check

Young, Stupid and ignorant - Check

Maybe it's the last "element" which caused the claim to be denied.

dont think the shop allow u to add on the insurance to the installment plans. worse scenario is just lay up the bike till u have enough cash to renew back the necessary papers

Hi to all! Need a little advice here.

Situation:

- I'm currently sub-rider of my CBR150 and I'm paying installments (COI)

- Been riding it since Feb this year.

- Main rider already bought another bike.

- Insurance on MY bike is going to expire some time in January 2009.

Question: Is it possible to

1) Transfer ownership to my name? (will the bike shop impose additional charges for this?)

2) Just insure for my name ONLY as main rider upon expiry?

Thanks in advance to all !

if the shop allow change of ownership.. why not. but some shop need u pay minimum upfront. sure u need pay some fees on top of that.

if transfer name cant be process, u cant be the main rider.

Hi guys, i've got some insurance issues to ask.

I've got 2 bikes ( Lets juz say bike A and B)

Bike A insured under NTUC-25% NCD

Bike B insured under AXA-0% NCD (got 3rd party claim)

Bike B insurance expiring later this mth but i am deciding to switch to NTUC. Would my Bike A insurance NCD affected?

ANother issue is my 3rd party claim... this accident has not been settled yet by my lawyer yet my insurance premium has jacked up almost 20%-30% more than last year... with 0% Ncd...

anyone experienced it b4? any advise is greatly appreciated...
