1 week old Sach Madass bike but engine died on me many times!!!

Hi guys, me is totally pissed off by this bike.. Here is the story.. Mod, sorry to repeating myself.. I'm just want to let ppl knw wat happen and need some advise here. (I collected my bike on 09th Apr 08)

 

On 12th Apr sat, i was riding back home, suddenly my bike engine dead!! no power no light no nothing... in the middle of the road, the bike just suddenly like switch off.. push my bike to one way while all the cars horning at me..#@$@ Luckily i quite near to my motorbike... call them up and i push the bike to the shop..

 

Reach the shop, the mechanic get down to work... he strip the batt apart.. suddenly, gt one biker came with his bike, he go service his bike instead.. i thought maybe tht guy urgent.. i let him go lst.. So i go find a place to sit.. frm 1 pm to 2pm.. tht mechanic just walk around fixing other ppl bikes, me very pissed off already, i ask him wat wrong with my bike, hw long i have to wait...he told me, "i gt a lot of things to do, ur gt to wait... F him sia.. He go service those big bike more expensive instead of my madass lst.. I complain to the sale person hw can like tht, he say okok he go tok to them.. in the end... they gt it fixed.. Problem, fuse shorted, mechanic say maybe raining...somewhere gt shorted, but the problem is until nw, my bike is wet free, still havent touch a drop of water yet... Hw on earth gt shorted...

Part 1... On sunday, Its happen again... almost get knock down by the taxi behind me.. The bike just suddenly died off...

Super duder piss off already.. Call up the bike shop saleguy hp and give him a piece of my mind... Bright day light...no rain...the problem come back again.. He say he will come collect the bike on Monday ..then they see hw..

 

I push the bike back home and opened up the fuse box and the fuse really blowed up. .I really have doubt on the motorshop mechanic skill..

Me just normal travelling along the road and its just happen.. Cant imagine i on expressway... and it will to happen... me get knock down also nobody knw!!

Part 2

 

Today took half day leave go down to collect my bike, reached Mah motor, the mechanic still checking..they cant find the fault.. In the end, they change the whole part of the cutoff switch button part for me, saying this could be the problem...And they also reroute the fusebox to a easy accesible place for me to replace the fuse should the fuse blow again..

 

My frd and i ride to a few places to shop around..After sending my frd back.. On my way home, its happen again...Bike OFF by itself again.. I took out the fuse...and chk, blown.... Put a new one in and on the bike again.. .. Fuse blown again.. Put the last fuse in, pray hard to the god.... Blown again... Totally pissed off, call Mah motor and they say they will come toll the bike back... I dnt knw wat to do next.. Give them chance to check or demand them to change a new bike... mine bike only 1 wk old ..3 times tis fault keep happening already and they still cant find the fault.. Cant be i keep going back rite..This is a new bike not secondhand somemore.... All this while, the bike died on small road... Luckily never died on expressway yet.. But i dnt wish to try it..

 

 

Any advise guys? Anyone encounter buying a lemon bike?

I having same situation as urs, fuse blown coupon of times when riding, for mine is only headlight and backlight gone.. went to one of the bike shop, for nearly 6hrs and cant solve the problem and charge me for unsolved problem, ended up I went Mah motorparts, which is opp sim lim tower there and check it's wiring problem and solve within 20mins.

The mechanic at Mah chk the wiring already but still cant find the fault.. Gt to see wat they say tomolo..

Fuse blowing continually is a sign that the electrical circuits are overloading. Replacing the fuse is only a stop-gap measure, the real fault must be found to eliminate it.

 

The seller can continue to offer to work on fixing your damage at his cost, which would mean that you have no right of other recourse against him. Replacement is not necessary by law and as far as I see, unheard of here for new vehicles.

if u can.. try changing fuses to a sLightLy Larger ampere.. say u're using 20A now.. use 25A or 30A.. for the time being.. see how it goes.

if u can.. try changing fuses to a sLightLy Larger ampere.. say u're using 20A now.. use 25A or 30A.. for the time being.. see how it goes.

check that aLL groundings r in pLace too.

 

That is just avoiding the problem.

If the circuit is designed for 20A and you put in a higher Amp fuse, you're just letting the whole circuit overload without any fail-safe.

 

This problem sounds as if there is a surge somewhere or a wiring is grounded out somewhere.

Is there only one fuse for your bike? Meaning just one general fuse for the entire bike instead of individual fuses for individual parts (electric circuits).

 

if im not wrong your bike has just one fuse right? that will be hard to identify which electrical circuit has problem. Probably u can start from your headlight and brake light first. Then slowly move on to signals and spark plug cables.

 

These 4 items are the electrical circuits i can tink of for now when the bike is running.

 

the meter and tail light is linked together i assume (the case for most bikes). Correct me if im wrong

just a suggestion ... Kim Keat at AMK Autopoint is good for electrical, it seems, but somehow I think you want Mah to solve the problem.

Its happen more than 4times already... new bike somemore... Tis type of bike u dare to ride? lucky for me that , all these 4 times happened on small road, if happen on express way hw?

 

I only have 1 life... i cant possible let them troubleshoot part by part when me be the guine pig riding... spoilt liao call them happily pls come tow my bike, its spolit again...

electrical issues can get rather tricky.

whether Mah wants to spend time troubleshooting the electricals on yr new bike will reflect on the strength of their commitment towards u.

do update us on what follow-up actions they did?

 

i see some gd advice dished out above w/ regards to short circuiting on bike by the other bros.

 

i ever encounter such issue on my bike before as well. the fuse just kept popping.

i managed to trace the source of short circuit finally thru some luck.

 

1st, i bypassed the fuse. then i try switching on the various electric devices on the bike one by one. at the same time, observe the impact on the other electricals when each device is switched on.

for my case, i realised that the neutral light goes really dim the moment i depress my brakes.

ended up, found that the short circuit was occuring at the rear brakelight bulb area (part of the wiring shorted against the tailframe).

 

u can don't bypass the fuse (for safety's sake), but prepare a few more fuses on standby. i was at a desperate moment when i did the troubleshooting. down to my last fuse + it was at night when motorshops nearby are all closed!

wiring problem can be a little tricky ... but if u want it fixed right ... just request for a new wiring harness as they can't find the fault... hehe:cheeky:

ya i think the problem is not the fuse itself but some other fault in the electrics. i'm afraid i can't offer any suggestions but sure hope you solve your problem soon. Can understand your frustration cos I had a similar problem with AS Phoon. The bike they sold me kept giving problems and they kept having to tow the bike back. Then slowly slowly troubleshoot, let me try the bike, let the bike die on the road, then tow back. Super inconvenient and the AS Phoon guy still got the nerve to shout at me on the phone for telling him that his salesperson was not honest about the bike's condition when he sold it to me.

 

Seriously, one thing I realise about these dealers is that they are only interested in making your money. Once they got your money, they don't care whether you live or die on the road.

 

This AS Phoon, I told the guy on the phone that there's a heat problem because the temperature keep going up until in the red. The guy's standard reply is always "this type of bike is like that one". Until one day I purposely ride it until got smoke come out of the engine. Then that ******* agree to repair it. Very irresponsible. But what to do? Have to buy bikes from this type of people. This is AS Phoon, Changi Road branch. All con men.

Check the entire wire loom, it is shorting somewhere.

 

Last time I had this problem on my bike too, end up one of the wire was chaffing against the chassis, shorting out and blowing the fuse.
