Helmet is a must, even if you see locals not wearing one, wear one. obviously I encourage you to gear up fully, bike big style.

You might be asked for your passport to be left at the rental shop to be able to take the bike you rent.

Take a color photocopy (laminated is even better) of your passport and see if they would hang on to that instead (being on the road in a foreign country without official ID and proof you entered legally is never a good thing).

If not, it's ok, leave the passport with them, but keep a photocopy, local police knows rental shops ask for the passport (which again, is unbelievable for me, except for legal authorities and police, no one should be able to keep your passport from you, but it is what it is..)

Last but not least - be safe, empty roads do not mean easy roads in Thailand, trucks especially are kings on the road and will happily drive in your lane if they have to over take a slower one.

if u go to phuket, u can rent an r1 even without any license..as long u wear e helmet, the police wun stop u..juz dat e prices r steep. since u got cl2 den no prob..which part of thailand r u goin to? i not sure whether other areas will have bigbikes too..mebbe u wana check gtforum

thanks guy! :)

oh im going to Bangkok and Pattaya. you are right man. :cheeky: i read from websites saying that i can rent up to a Harley Davidson. LOL!!!

but i will stick to a cheap cheap kup just for travelling short distances if its cheaper. haha. adventure.

thanks for the advices. appreciate it

Make sure you depress the clutch fully while changing gears. If still got problems, get it checked, your bike still under warranty any problems, can fix it for free.

I heard from friends that USD is most commonly used currency there, apart from Rupiah. So take Rupiah and if you have USD, take it with you. SGD just carry for emergency in case you fall short and need to convert there.

u should promote dis to driving centres as education about road users.

I wouldn't do that..

The bike isn't showing the proper riding neither: the video starts with the rider riding on the extreme left of the highway shoulder, trig to squeeze in past cars from their left when it's an entry to highway on the right.

Same later at a split road, overtaking cars from the small gap on the right to turn left.

By right this should not happen and we have to admit this can create confusion and stress from the car drivers. I expect bikes to show up right and left of me anyhow when I drive but I also hate it..

For the White mini van cutting in, that's an excellent example of why I always try to position myself at the centre of my lane. Riding to the side, even to check if lane splitting is possible, is always interpreted as an invitation. Drivers think you'll ride on the dotted line and take the space left on your lane. It doesn't excuse the behaviour, jut explains it :shy:

On the other hand, when they tell riders at school to always ride in the centre of the lane, and when those riders discover the INSANE traffic at peak hours, the teachings become useless and not adapted to the reality of riding a bike here.

The video is excellent, and the quality and frame are both perfect, hope you post more videos, it's great for new riders to see what can happen.

The other day a big car cut into my lane a bit like the White Mini van. Difference is, I was in the middle. Horned him. 20m later there was a red light. Stopped by his window. I was pissed because with a pillion and it was impossible to anticipate his turn because he swerved very sharply. You know what he said? "where change lane, I never change lane..." -> :faint: !!!!

Actually, i think the best plan is to change in rupiah. Usd and Sgd can be used but you'll loose a bit on the exchange there like speed said. In general, always bring as much local currency with you in a foreign country as youthink you will use. True that you don't want to end up having too much but for a short you should be able to change the right amount.

Mustafa centre will give you a good rate.

Maybe you already thought about it but post all your items in the garage sells section, on gumtree, craiglist and any other forums as well.

A LOT of pulsarians never come to this forum. If the hand guards are a matter of personal choice, the otter items (riser and fairings) will be popular for sure. Especially at the priceyou are giving them away, they are a great deal.

In Singapore people always like to do that irrealistic bargaining on second hand items especially on forums by suggesting low prices. Just put in your add that price is not negotiable and original price so they can compare.

This thread isn't the only way to reach pulsar riders and for those of us selling something we must not forget that the big majority o pulsar owners never come here :cheeky:

@speedaddict, post about the BTMO with an official post. Dont wait for people to tell you yeah ok do it. Put a date, time and agenda as well as ticket prices and limit date for booking.

If you have time maybe you can pm members who are not participating so much anymore, they might enjoy catching up with everyone.

Like @mjbs64 said, it's all about the planning. No one wants to do it, yet when the idea is shared everyone said it would be great. Now that the time has come, everyone is busy, going with other people or not even replying to your suggestion.

I think we need to get better at this :shy:

Be more active when outings are organised and show more interest so this survives and continues. I understand all too well we all have otter priorities but we also all enjoy getting together don't we ? :D

Anyway, it's great you are making the effort to organise. Put up the post with where and how, and worst case if no one is interested, you'll still get to watch a nice movie :thumb:
