speaking of weather? i have a question in mind.. i dont see many Harley Riders putting on their rain gears.. maybe abt 4 out of 5.. Do they even own a rain gear? it kinda puzzle me cos i seen most of them riding in the rain in vests mostly..

From what i know, the leather vest shields away the rain and coldness.... and when its warm, the leather vest does the other way round and keep the rider cool.... most harley riders drive their cars when it rains.... i take the bus. :p

I do wear my raincoat out if its raining when i am abt to leave home. if not i will juz try to wait for the rain to clear.

one reason could be harley mostly dun have storage, so carrying raincoat around not very feasible.

hehe...n i only wear vest for club events. if not, will see me most prob some street tee & burms an a fresh pair of nike.

Looking at the weather, I think i better get my saddle bags soon to put my rain coat in it. Doesn't look like the weather situation is going to get any better....

I changed my ignition coil to the left side between the 2 blocks where the cow bell horn is. looks nice wif the kuryakyn velo coil cover.

that's nice, the sparking cables can actually route easier to the plugs. pattern also nicer to the eye.

so where's your horn? blowing does not count.

mine is the OEM front mount horn, thought of shifting the horn to the side where the 2 cylinders meets...cow bell horn is a complete horn or just a cover?

for BTs n EVOs, they have the horn under horn cover. if u wanna put it them on ur sporty, u will have to buy the bracket wif is screwed between ur 2 blocks, then fix the horn n horn cover to ur the bracket. the bracket can be found on ebay.

yup, seen it on ebay...i most probably will drop by sunburst or custom cycles and see if they have it any in stock,...i take it that it just a cover over the OEM horn., bracket i think can easily manufacture in sin...seng kwang will be last resort...thanks for the information.

I'm using a Hella horn on my Sporty. Its actually a twin tone disc horn, but I took the low tone while another forummer took the high tone for his R1. Mounted between the downtubes, but I had to raise it slightly otherwise it will hit the front fender when I brake hard.

Its bigger & louder than stock, but its a bright red colour. I had it sprayed black, else will stand out like a sore thumb....

Went down already. The weather was particularly good today.... to my surprise. Went to hook up my lowering kit. Wow! It seems like a different ride altogether now. Rats! I should have taken the 2 inches instead of the 1.75 inches. I want to have the feeling like on Ben's Fatboy.

Initially i wanted to take the 1 inch, luckily Alan talked me out of it and i went for the 1.75 inches instead. Speaking of Alan, saw his RK. Sad state. It's a skelaton ride now. No seat, no fenders, no engine, no wheels, no nothing....

But your friend came on a Fazer600 and those 1970's Slyvester Stallon type glasses. Ask him to lend me his bike.... he make so much noise.... ha ha.

Hi all.

Is anyone here riding on 18" rear tires? I have a problem with my rear shocks, and when I go over humps or a piece of bad road, the rear tire actually scraps the inside of the fender. I was told that the rear shocks need to be changed. Currently its on 12" progressive suspensions. I was going to buy new shocks of the same length but now im not sure if 12" is long enough.

If anyone is using 18" rear tires, can I know the length of the rear shocks currently on your ride?

thanks in advance

Hi Germs7,

Unfortunately i do not run on 18" rear tires so i really can't advice what is the appropriate length for the rear shocks. But what you can do is to put your fingers under the rear fender and have an estimate of how far is the circumfrence of the wheel to the fender. 3 inches should be just right for the distance apart.

My bike was about 4 inches different and i lowered it down to about 2.5 inches gap now. Taking into consideration that i'm quite light (56kg) and i seldom have a pillion, i still don't scrap the inside of the rear fender.

My take is 3 - 3.5 inches apart should be healthy. From there you can roughly estimate how long the rear shocks should be when you make your new purchase. Hope this helps. Cheers & Regards.
