Finally got to test ride the harleys at the dealership today~! Nightster, Fatbob and Streetbob. I must say its a really fun and interesting experience for me and my friends :D

I wanna get a streetbob~!!!

Anyway, i observed that harley's fuel cap are not lockable (at least for the 3 models I tried). How do you guy prevent your petrol from getting stolen? Is there any way to make it more secure?

for the fuel caps can change it to kuryakyn fual cap wic can be open using their special made key. at least it's abit more secure.

or there is one type of fuel cap wic looks like Super4 fuel cap but smaller version. :thumb:

Hi all,

Just saw the trailers for an old movie called "Harley Davisdon & the Marlboro Man" via the internet last night. Saw the actor (Mickey Rourke) on the keys to his Harley (bike not started yet), twist the throttle about twice and then start the bike. Does anyone know whats the rational for doing that? Or is it just for show? Thanks.

i think its just a habit.. just like how some ppl like to throttle once when they start their bike... or throttle once before they off their bike :thumb:

Non EFI harleys need to flood the carbs otherwise it won't start properly or it's "fart" alot when moving off. Apparently Jap bikes dun need to. Different "technology" when building the engine and all I guess. Hence the American vs European vs Jap bikes arguement.

Hi all,

Heard that Harley Dealership has stopped the import of the Dyna Wide Glide into Singapore. If thats the case, would it be a problem getting the spare parts for it or are all Harley parts quite universal in the sense that spare parts can be interchanged between different models. Is the Low Rider also not coming in already or just the Wide Glide. Please advice. Thanks & Cheers. :)

It's never a problem to get parts through the dealership or internet. My ride is an 01 model they just order the parts in for you. Sometimes you just have to wait a little while. Parts are still available for nearly all models even those 10, 20 and 30 years old. Wide Glides were popular in the States so I would not be concerned.

BTW my understanding is that the model was discontinued by HD for 2008 rather than the dealership decided not to import.

It's still one of my favourite looking Harley's.

Hi Hagar,

Thanks for the answers..... ya, it's also one of my favourite looking bikes, along with the older model 90' 91' Softail Custom. The ones with the thin forks and the high bull handle bars. Cheers. :)

the 2008 wide glide is still in production in usa but the local dealership did not bring import it for whatever reasons....

go to their American site for more details on the new wide glide:

Hi adammikhail,

But by having this habit of reving prior to engine startup, does it cause the bike any harm in the long run? Let's say if my bike has no problem starting up in the morning without this action.

How do you start yours? Is yours EFI? Normal procedure, twist thrice, pull half choke, ride for about 2-3 mins or a few hundred metres, close choke. No farts. You'll see a difference specially at night at cold places like highlands area in Malaysia or Bukit Timah, Lim Chu Kang those kinda places and even more so if you haven't rode your bike for 3-5 days.

If EFI, on and start. :p

My old bike, the Steed, just turn on the keys and press the button. Starts beautifully without the need to rev even in the mornings.........

Haven't gotten a Harley yet, planning to get one in July or August :) but am currently scouting and finding out more about the bike first. Not a cheap investment, got to sell some of my shares....... :(

oh yes. System clearance. hee. What does it check for anyway My old one wasn't EFI but still had to check.

Dunno, makes some noise for a while like it is pumping some petrol around. Dealership always says to wait for the little red engine light to go off before starting. Makes no sence though how many people with fuel injected cars do you know that wait for a while half way during turning the ignition key? I wonder if other fuel injected bikes are the same.
