i just got my pair block off plate installed today. it was a pain in the a55 to get to the plate. lemme explain why, for easy access, the rad fan needs to be removed first. i loosened one of the nuts for the fan and the nut fell into the bike. couldn't find it and didn't know where it was so i took out the skid plate. no luck so f*ck that, don't know why but i removed the pair valve to look for the nut and it dropped out from god-knows-where. with that settled, i tried to remove the bottom nut for the fan that is nearest to the inside.

it was tightened to a point that no spanner can ease it without hitting or moving the exhaust & rad pipe. i had to remove the left rad to loosen it and get more working space to remove that nut. ok fan removed, unscrewed and removed the pair metal linkage to the seng kwang dude who fabbed a stainless steel block off plate in 20 minutes, costs $15. fixing everything back was ok but i grazed my knuckles and bled when i was working around the rad because of it's sharp fins. some fins were bent in a small area and looks like sh*t now :D

learnt something new today.

a. i am a 101% mechanical retard

b. don't work on an empty stomach, it frustrates you when you are too hungry to think and work out simple solutions.

c. if in doubt, stop, look, think before doing. don't kamikaze any mechanical work on your bike.

d. working on your own bike gives a sense of satisfaction when everything is back together and nothing is messed up too badly.

i had the pair disabled with a screw last week so the results are the same, less popping or "peep" sound from the stock exhaust on hard decel. used to be 2 peeep, now maybe 1 peeep and sometimes none. i don't feel any change in exhaust temp but maybe because my butt is too insensitive.

well, that's all folks

haha.. cant comment much abt PAIR removal cuz mine came removed, as i bought 2nd hand..

but the sense of satisfaction after working on our bike and you know that it became better because of your hardwork really pays off..

when DIYing, i always ensure i had a cuppa ice cold drink around.. it's very fustrating if you are thirsty and you needa keep all the stuffs properly before you can go and buy a drink..

yoz bro, nice job on the 3x3! (abeit a hard and tough one!)

you need to jet your carb to run on the appropriate mixture of air and fuel, if not your carb will either run too lean or too rich, either.

the oil on the air filter is tacky as it needs to "attract" dirt onto the air filter before it bypass the filter.

stickier the better =p

but too much also not good!

if you ever oil your air filter yourself, rmb that it is a science of its own too. =)

Ermm.. you should actually do jetting, 3X3 and exhaust together..

save all the trouble..

anyways, you gonna do jettings right?

the air filter is like that one.. you using stock or K&N??

after my fasteners arrived, i'll be doing the 3X3 with my FCR..

my current air box cover got 3 holes already, considering it to be a 3X3..

High Com Gasket - No

E Cams and o-ring Gasket was at $265, i only put the intake E-Cams and the EX was still the stock ones...

I do not intend to take part in the superstock series though it was tempting at first..With FCR39MX, can take part also mer?

meng tong jetted and tuned my carb (charged me cheaper than earlier stated), using JD red needle with clip on 2nd notch, 160 main and 25 pilot. 3x3 was done earlier by me.

some ppl say that after the 3x3 and rejet, their whole bike is transformed into some magic flying carpet.

i say my throttle response is snappier, the engine is smooth at steady speeds, go wot and it pulls harder than any other 600 that i have ridden, didn't try the top for safety and legal reasons but the wot transition from 90 to 130 was really scary, a lot of wind resistance to the upper body and head. it doesn't lug the engine when i upshift to 5th at 80km/hr anymore. decel is ok with a loud burble & 1-2 pops on hard decel.

the yoshi is a little loud but it's kinda fun, especially when i roar past those malaysians with their tong pipes and they get so mad that they overtake me and backfire on purpose lol

You can take part in the DRZ one make race like I did the last round. And join Ryuta, Shah and me. When you have to race against very experienced racers like Ryuta and Shah... confirm you will go faster.

When I practice... I can only clock 47.4 thereabouts even though I try and push myself. But when racing against the likes of those 2 demons... I am clocking 46.4 on the average.

Its the pressure that this chicken feel from the eagles lah.

guys new to this drz thingy.. kinda keen/interested to get one but wanna know more n find out more about this meanie machine.. anyone care to share knowledge?

drz stock brakes issit gd? i using brembo(19x20) on my current bike.. so i guess this is a must for me to change??

then what other basics mods are there like pipes?? cams?? what effect will it have in terms of performance and durability?

then you guys cut that 3x3 thingy issit the airbox? then it means u guys be running w/o filter as well?

n what are the shops u guys go to? to service ur bike or mods.. =)

then what about the PAIR thingy and u guys cutting some part of the front to prevent it wobbling @ high speed.. complete noob here.. i m registered in supermoto.sg but i dun find much valuable information thread there

like a thread for parts, mods, handing

or a thread for a pure newbie like the pros n cons of the bikes or so..

you need to get a supermoto to get validated there..

only when validated, then you can see the members forum..

i'll touch on the MC, using a 19X20 on a 2piston caliper will instantly create a endo when you press on the lever.. i also sold away my 19X20 with pazzo lever because they dun fit a single caliper system..

a 13mm or 16mm will be suffice.. 13mm brembo will be suffice if you are using 4pot brembo caliper like Raptor.. 16X18mm if using OEM caliper.. it's up to individual for the brake feel..

the 3 most common performance mods on this bike will be FCR, Exhaust and 3X3.. and no with the 3X3, we are just making the intake bigger, we are still running with fliters..

the 3 most common cosmetic mods will be brakelight, graphics and headlight..

Posted

And the 3 most sensible mod you can do first before anything else is......

1. Put the crankcase savers on.

2. Throw away the axle sliders and put real ones on.

3. Invest in a set of metal backed hand guards.
