Dear rastus,

those MOTOGP bikes can and never will be the same as on the road bikes due to the following reasons:

1) GP bikes are purely for race

2) due to reason 1, the HP of the rear wheel itself can easily hit at least 180HP at the rear wheel and above

3) due to reason 2, the GP bikes are very light

4) lightness is due to materials used to make the engine parts and therefore wear and tear faster and durability is not there.

5) headlights, signal lights which are for safety purposes are not found in GP bikes

6) noise levels are a big problem to residents

7) pricing is another main factor

8) local laws would not want racers everywhere they go

disclaimer: the following reasons are purely based on my own personal understandings. Any info or other points which are left out or are wrong is not liable for any lawsuit or to be used as evidence in court :cheeky:

What say u

the noise level, the maintainence, the price, the FC, the weight, the tires they use, the fuel they require, the handling, the Power to Weight ratio is all better den our heavily mod 1000cc or 1300cc superbikes.

they can pump up more than 100km on their First gear~ but they have a slower pick up than our regular street bikes as they are all set to rich fuel intake to rock and roll at top speeds =D

but non the less... no modern MotoGP bikes is able to match the unbeatable V4 NSR500 back then =)

Hi,

i'd like to find out if bikes used in motogp/racing are like the regular r1 or cbr1000rr. In terms of the speed and hp. cause motogp bikes can reach 100km/h within gear 2 right? just wondering if the normal ones on our roads can.

question answered already

I read somewhere that, modern GP machines produce about 220hp. And weight less then 200kg. That more then 1000hp per tonne.

I feel that they are the same.

Just diff in the state of tune. and add on parts. Thus the diff in performance figure.

Production road legal bike we all know lah.

Must be lasting, Last 10 years or more in normal riding

must meet emission law. this one we all know.

Must be Fuel efficient. If a r1 is 13km/l I think no one will buy

GP bike on the other hand, Their main concern is win races.

GP bike suspension is not the stock ones. even if it's ohlins, it's a special super tuned version for race.

Engine. Likely to be stock. It's is likely to be tune towards the lean side for max power.

The lean side is almost to the end. Lean enough to produce max power. But still enough to last a season. Not the lean until open throttle, 100 meter. Valve melt, piston jam type

So diff in carb or ECU.

Gears, valve and pistons. likely to have slight changes from stock. Likely slight diff in dimension and material. Lightest available but again strong enough to last a season.

Clutch non need to say lah. same story.

Exhaust. This straight forward. Maximum race type.

brakes, disc. carbon type. Need to warm up before working properly. extremely expensive. Totally not possible for normal road use.

Other stuff will be removing all trhe unneccessary stuff that is not needed to save weight. Leg sets, handle bar all maximium lightness.

Now. In summary. The bikes between GP and prodcution is same and different at the same time.

WE can make our road bike to be gp standard. Provided we have connection for the parts and a super big bank account. Best if you own a oil well.

Also this gp bike. It's pretty hard to ride in SG without summon from TP. and hard to avoid crashes cos our normal traffic is not enough to warm up the brakes.

And maybe every few days, u will need to change parts like what the GP bikes do.

Also the GP bike suspensions. Ride in SG road. Don't think it will be comfortable

Your post damn contradicting man!

Seriously if they were to pump 3 million into R&D and parts, do you think it will be the same as your 20k R1? Or maybe just slightly faster than your standard r1?

Simple logic dictates that it's not possible. If it was they would have wasted their 3 million.

I believe the weight is much less than 200kg, somewhere along 150 to 160kg at most.. Consider the fact that a 08 cbr1 is 199kg fully loaded and a cbr6 is abt 180kg fully loaded.

To make it short

"The motorcycles used in MotoGP are purpose-built, purebred racing bikes - ‘prototypes’ - which are not available for purchase by the general public and cannot be legally ridden on public roads." taken from http://www.motogp.com/en/MotoGP+Basics/bikes

Hope that clears everything hahha. Can read more at the link provided.

Yea bro, after researching I found that most GP bikes weight around the area you said. So even after including the weight of a 50-55kg rider. Their power to weight ratio is still mind boggling :faint:

Amazing machines that requires amazing skill to control with such precision :thumb:

Btw thats a beautiful blade in your sig. ^_^

LOlz.

Hard to explain my perspectives.

Maybe to summarised. MotoGP bike = stock but with tons of soup up parts and addons.

Some parts may or may not be available.

This also Depends on models and brand of GP bikes.

Also Regarding the oil well expression. All I can say is speed and power needs $. How much u are willing to fork out.

what stock? even the basic thing like the frame and swingarm is different already. motogp bikes have no similarities to production bikes apart from the fact they are both motorcycles. i think you are confused with WSBK bikes, those are heavily modded production bikes.
