Hello! I have a small question to ask you guys. I got a 3 year old YBR125. Mileage is 86k. Yeah i know its alot. But can i pump V-Power into my tank? Will it spoil my engine or anything, or will it be better? It is because i am afraid the engine might be too old and a higher octane premium fuel would be bad for my engine. Thank you! :)

why would you want to waste money pumping something your bike doesn't need in the first place?

Sigh. That's why everyone says. I just wanted to try one time to know how it feels. Because when i pump from 95 to 98 i can really feel the difference. Nevermind ah. Everyone say don't need to pump until so good. I just wanna try one time and know how it will feel. Like i just cut my chain and change EO. Can really feel the difference. Just wondering if put V-Power it will spoil my engine. :p But if you insist really really dont need, then i shouldnt bother. Thanks man! :)

We should have a poll. Which petrol brand do you guys prefer? I prefer shell. How about YOU? :)

Hmmz.. "Everybody" also told me 95 and 98 not much diff. But when i tried 95 for e first time some time back, whoa! immediately can feel the diff in power (or the lack of).

I will suspect that 98 -> v-power will have similar impact. If ur intention is to try it once, y not?! wun really costs a bomb. Just dun whack too much? :cheeky:

not much of a preference if i've only tried shell b4! :cheeky:

:thumb: cannot get any more discount than that liao! :lol: it was actually very tempting but my cub dun drink so much that i wanna switch over yet. :cheeky:

The octane rating of gasoline tells you how much the fuel can be compressed before it spontaneously ignites. When gas ignites by compression rather than because of the spark from the spark plug, it causes knocking in the engine. Knocking can damage an engine, so it is not something you want to have happening. Lower-octane gas (like "regular" 87-octane gasoline) can handle the least amount of compression before igniting.

The compression ratio of your engine determines the octane rating of the gas you must use in the car. One way to increase the horsepower of an engine of a given displacement is to increase its compression ratio. So a "high-performance engine" has a higher compression ratio and requires higher-octane fuel. The advantage of a high compression ratio is that it gives your engine a higher horsepower rating for a given engine weight -- that is what makes the engine "high performance." The disadvantage is that the gasoline for your engine costs more.

Source: how stuff works!! So i'm guessing normal engine like commuter bike's [YBR] doesn't "understand" higher octane petrol..

normally i pump 95 into my honda xl2 when i feel poor, 98 when i feel like pampering the bike. Yes, can feel the difference in power.

The only time I pumped caltex platinum was there was a long queue to pump at the station and the only unoccupied pump only had platinum and diesel... the bike keep jerking all the way home, don't know whether the petrol is contaminated or i accidentally pump diesel or what... yucks...

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

This is not always the case.

A turbo charged car would normally have a lower compression ratio than a non-turbo car because the higher the compression ratio, the lower you can boost safely.

Fwa! so fierce? after that how? continue riding (and bike knocking) til fuel runs low?

Ooh? hmz, dung noe how, i will try soon the vpower! hahaz :p Fritz also try b4 ma, a few x1r riders also tried b4 :cheeky:. so tempting! now just pump 95 coz suddenly veli conscious of pocket!

means turbo charged cars no point go for vpower etc? :thumb: for the info!

YBR125 is intended as an economical (ie. cheap) commuter in China, East Europe....etc. In the rural parts, even in some cities of these countries, they don't have high grade petrol ie, RON 100 octane such as V-power.

You can pump the most expensive petrol in town, but there is absolutely no performance gain.

Just go for RON95.

Under high load/boost, low octane fuel can still pre-det in a turbocharged engine. Most modern turbocharged cars have anti-knock sensors. Insufficient octane will cause the engine management system to curtail the amount of boost which in turn defeats the purpose of these engines.

EXPLODE???

Ain't gonna happen. If u still keen, then try it out on one full tank.

Fuel has addictives for different purposes (cleaning properties, better burning etc etc). V-Power is not some magic fuel that can turn your machine into rocket. Go ahead and pump. Ain't gonna cost u your whole life saving with a tank of better grade petrol if you really wana try.

For i ,my job is driving caltex tanker,so as for my sight,i tnk v power and plantium fuel octane is jus 98 but plus additional additive that make it burn fast cos the fuel r thinner den nor 98.Tat y its burns faster and gve u mre power.

read this about petrol:

http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/Reference/RONMONPON.html

general guide of wat grade to use base on engine compression ratio:

engine compression ratio --> petrol grade

RON 92

10~12:1 --> RON 95

>12:1 --> RON 98 or above

ybr125 is economical commute bike with low engine compression ratio of

recommend use RON 92 grade fuel.

u can use any grade above 92 without any problem ie. money is not a problem.
