Long story bro. Me abit DIY guy la. Wanted to solve my fuel pump relay relay fail energized problem.

Narrow down to either ecu or the rear harness got problem. Just last week found my rectifier connector burnt. Order a used and just fit it up.

DIY... good on you! Not my cuppa tea, me rather just go to a trusted mech for peace of mind. Again today i did not managed to find time to go n see the progress on my bike... :(

The only bad news is that you'll never be able to re-spray it (hahahaa).

How come bro? In fact i'm getting a used lower left fairing to re-spray cos the fasterner at the bottom of mine is damaged.

Which means the the open cover which was on the bike when yammy owned it, the termi race pipes, and the 5 spoke marchesinis will probably be for sale (probably for a song) sometime in the future . If you plan to up-spec your senna in the future, you can always let me know ;)

Actually I am looking for 50mm Titanium termi slip-ons..... cos CF ones dun age too well? Worth considering anyway if its going for a song!

I'm in no hurry to up-spec my 916 as i want to explore it in stock state first as the performance of a standard 916 is already more than i need.

Guys any night out this friday night??? :)

Good to have u back! Nowadays meetup is via sms....

Wah...on my way to ray place..escorted by LTA..lucky my stock pipe with me cause going to change to stock at ray

I am trying to imagine yr stock pipes sticking out of yr back pack!

Gotta disagree with you this time bro. Ducati is about the desmo. It may be monster 400, it may be a multistrada, it may be a desmoseidici.... They are all machines built with passion and everyone of them uniquely desmodromic!

I wont argue with you on this bro, u got a point too.

LOL my bad, i should rephrase....you can't respray...in any other colour. Otherwise it no longer looks like a senna. hahaa

The cans I have are definitely 50mm, though in CF. Actually I think titanium would look really nice with your silver senna. It sounds like a nice and unique combo. Nonetheless if my termis interest you, feel free to get in touch

I love my Italian steed but I do love my Jap superbike too. Different flavours but there's nothing much to ascertain one's superiority over the other. Ride what feels good and enjoy the ride.

Be it the Cling Clang sound where my mum describe my bike 'like a spoilt washing machine'

or the Vroom Vroom deep bassy sound...

I love both of them :cheeky:

Great to have u back! Pumpkin & U need to have a get-together... your bikes i mean, not the Termi position.... hahaha!

Oh, why wld i respray it in any colour other than original? However I did think of getting a set of Red fairings if i wanted a change of clothes but the red rims would make it too much red. (Thats where yr 5 spoke marchesini come in??) hahahaha!

On my hunt for titanium termis, I chanced upon a set of stock 998R slip-ons with the termi engraved and e3 numbers (like Rockoil's). This wld be the ultimate stealth termi which is i believe street legal. I just need to figure out which Eprom chip will match my 916 ecu. It's 50mm and i think will fit yr 996sps more easily than my 916.

RR, our in-house engineer, any advice pls???

Hi guys, I just got myself a 1098 that came with a Termi Full system. Right off the bat, I noticed that the Check Engine Light remains on. Doing some reading online, I'm guessing it's probably due to the full system. I was also told I'd need to go back to Minerva to get the issue rectified. As the 12k servicing is coming up in 2ks, I figure I'd get it done then rather than just go in for the CEL.

Is there a problem if I don't get it rectified? The bike is fitted with a DP ECU and my first impressions are the motor is very smooth and predictable; the mapping is very satisfactory. So if there's no issue with the CEL being on then I'll just wait for the 12k servicing to get it rectified.

Appreciate any advice I can get. Most of the online forums I've read either outline how to DIY(which I'm not good at, so better not) or advise going to the dealer. TIA!

Would love to join you guys for some rides soon! Maybe I'll be able to learn more about my ride.

By any chance do the pipes you mention look like this?

http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg82/blackreplica/Ducati996SPSProcessed2-1.jpg

These were the stock pipes yammy gave me when i took over the bike. You probably might not have seen it since he probably never used it (haha). But if so, these are definitely legal. But they definitely sound legal too. Louder than the regular stock pipes i guess, maybe by a couple of decibels. But really, still very quiet. And if the internal design is same or similar to the other stockies, they are massively restrictive as well. They differ from the regular stockies in that the termi logo is engraved there. Never seen these on stock cans before, usually its just the EPA serial numbers. These are 50mm as well.

I might be wrong on this, but my understanding is that mostly only the 748s came with 45mm diameter pipes. I thought all the 900+ superbikes were all 50mm, including yours. But I may be wrong. If i'm right, you may have an easier time fitting 50mm pipes than you think. If it really is 45mm, then i think there is a 45mm to 50mm adapter i've seen which connects between the muffler tubing and the midpipe. Seen them on ebay before and they should be pretty cheap.

As an interesting bit of info, going 50mm if you have 45mm may not be the way to go if usable power is what you're after. I've seen some dynos like this one here: (http://www.bikeboy.org/996withsps52.html) which indicate a pretty significant power drop throughout the rev range except at the very top (and even then the gains up there, are at best, marginal) from using systems larger than 45mm diameter for the 916/996 series of bikes. Part of me is actually considering a 'downgrade' to a 45mm system (for the headers and midpipes at least) to try and get some power back. Bigger diameters seem to help the 998 much more though, but the engine designs on those are already quite different

Incidentally, the 996 Strada, probably the only 996 version to come stock with 45mm exhausts, produces much more low end and midrange grunt than even the SPS. The difference really, to me, is very significant. Its definitely something you would notice very easily in day to day riding. As much as a 15HP difference between 5-6K RPM (!!!) The SPS only starts to edge out (even then, only by a few HP) after 9000rpm. (http://www.bikeboy.org/996998999comp.html). Of course the Strada is also mapped differently, but the impression I get is that pretty much all the difference there can be attributed to the exhaust

This blurb which i extracted from the second link pretty much sums things up:\

"have been told the 998 range responds very well to larger exhausts, whereas I saw the 996 range lose power going to bigger systems. Given the larger valves and shorter duration cams, this isn’t unexpected. As they are trying to move more air in and out of the cylinder in a shorter time, a bigger throttle body and exhaust pipe are needed to handle the higher peak flow. Even though, in average terms, the overall airflow will be the pretty much the same."

Really makes for interesting reading

Yes! What I saw for the 998R was similar! And yes, I didnt know yammy had these as he had the CF termis on. So u actually have stock street legal termis! And since the symphony aint there, i'm gona continue looking for the titanium race cans like what Fesa has.

Mine are 45mm according to Fesa & Dr Ray. Since I had no owners manual to refer to (one of the previous owner kept as souvenior?), I take their word for it. Dr Ray has a mid-pipe link 45 to 50mm, i just need to find the Ti cans and the right Eprom chip to go with my ecu. Lost of power i'm not sure, but sound is probably what i'm after.

But like i said earlier, i'm very happy running my bike stock first to learn about it before i do any upgrades. My previous SS came to me with an STM slipper clutch and i didnt even know what it does at first! So now i'm happy to start with stock bike and learn along the way.

In short, if you're running 45mm headers and mid-pipe then go with the 45mm silencers. 998r silencers WILL NOT fit. 996 silencers MAY NOT fit. I'm talking about straight out of the box.

A little more detail...

Although the 998r(which is the same as the 998s) silencers have the 50mm mid-pipe connection it has a 45mm silencer(confirm). If you going for a 998r silencer then you also need a 45mm to 50mm mid-pipe. The only thing that stays the same is the headers and that may not fit w/o modification (cutting and welding).

Unless your aim is to have the 50mm headers + 50mm mid-pipes + 50/45mm 998r silencer + power commander (there's no eprom for 916 50mm). This is with the assumption that it'll fit (only 20% confidence w/o welding/mod). To save you all that trouble you might as go for the 52mm corsa full system (that definately will fit-if you can find it)

In short, stick to the 45mm MEANT for 916 as anything for the 998 WILL NOT fit. I am not so dead sure for the 996. If you want to try out the 998s/996r pipes I have a pair in the store room for inspection purpose.

The 996 Strada came with the 45mm exhausts while the SPS has the full 50mm system. The stock exhausts for the 996 are made by Terminogni and have the Termi logo engraved on the mufflers.

BlackReplica,

The bike is looking good...Pls dun sell the termi system for the SPS since it came as a performance kit included from the factory.

Contact me if you want to sell the clutch cover, I really liked that cover.

Thanx

1098 with only 10k on the clock? It must have been hardly used. :)

I believe your warranty is already over? If that's the case, you're free to go to other reputable workshops that has diagnostic capability or back to Minerva. I believe in riding with peace of mind than having a niggling doubt at the back of my mind when I'm riding her like how I should.

If you ask me, just get it sorted out and let the shop have a once over with her rather than wait another 2k. You'll feel better...I would anyway...
