My dear cling clang bros....

My bike has been missing the trademark cling clang cling clang.... no thanks to the stock closed clutch cover.... Even at traffic lights i struggle to hear the tamburine, and I was abt to go Toys R Us to get the tamburine as Tigre told Popeye last Fri nite.....

But guess what came in the mail today?

The weapon to unleash the cling clang cling clang.....

Can't wait till Sat to pop by Dr Ray's.... Meanwhile......

It serves as a crown for my prince at home..... future Ducati 1198R rider!

Hahahahaha! Just for laughs!

haha awesome! I had the same cover on my old monster, nice choice on the colour! Co-incidentally my new clutch cover came in just 2 days ago and it's the same colour too! Are we telepathic or something?? lol

Incidentally they even match my 5 spoke marchesinis which may come up for sale soon! *wink wink* LOL

For the slipper clutch option, i think they are all good, regardless of brand. The STM Evoluzione 48T on my bike seems to be the top end model, but bear in mind that there is no aftermarket pressure plate for it (single spring type) so you're stuck with the stock design

If you get 6 spring slipper clutches i think you can still go aftermarket with the pressure plates.

If you go with a basket/drum set which uses 12 tooth clutch plates, you may be use the OEM plates, but i am not 100% on this? However, if you go for the 48 tooth version (i only know STM has this), then you have to get the STM 48 tooth clutch plates. They cost a bomb: 360 USD compared to just over 200 USD for the 12 tooth OEMs (online pricing, not sure about local)

The 48 tooth offers quieter operation (but still plenty of cling clang, just a little less obnoxious, haha) and longer service life compared to the 12T. The 48 tooth versions are quieter and last longer because the action of the clutch plates banging away against the teeth in the basket is spread over a larger number of (smaller) teeth. Whether or not this is a worthwhile benefit depends on the user I guess, given the pretty significant cost difference

The STM single spring slipper is also supposed to reduce clutch effort but since it came with the bike i don't have a frame of reference. I would think that a good master/slave cylinder option will still account for about 80% of the clutch effort reduction with the slipper clutch itself accounting for the remaining 20%. If you go with a 5 spring/6 spring slipper, then the actual clutch springs you use (ergo, their spring rates), and the number of springs (fewer require less effort) will also influence the amount of effort required to disengage the clutch

IMO slipper clutches are great for the track where you downshift very aggressively at high speeds but in street use for starbucks posers like me, I don't think they have much value, to be 100% honest

A good budget option if you forego the slipper is still the classic aftermarket pressure plate + polished springs + coloured spring retainers. I personally like the idea of your gold cover going with a red pressure plate to match your wheels and polished stainless springs with silver retainers

Hi guys, am doing some reading on clutch plates at the moment as am attempting to do some DIY ordering of parts. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Barnett clutch plates. Reviews I read online are either very good, or very bad. Has anyone here ever used them before, or know someone who has used them?

I might want to give them a shot instead of using OEM replacements.

Intending to install a slipper clutch during next servicing and wanna know if there's a more preferred brand among you guys and why.

- STM, EVR or BATA slipper?

- Does STM, EVR or BATA slipper have an effect on the clutch pull?

- Which is able to use the stock clutch plates?

Any advice is greatly appreciated! :thumb: :thumb:

Seen it fail to perform on my buddy's supermoto. Had them swapped out for OEM after 1 track session.

Telephatic? Well, we fell in love with the same bike! Didnt we? We got good taste! I chose gold cos my frame is bronze colour like gold, and i didnt want too much blink at the clutch to take away attention from the red rims. That's y no red there, and i'm still unsure of a red pressure plate.

The 5 spoke cover really matches the 5-spoke marchesini rims, unfortunately i cant find 3-spoke version to match my brembos.

U are 100% rite abt the slipper n that starbuck poser like me dun need it as well. So i will prob go with yr suggestion since we got same taste. If u find any nice stuff, pls let me know! Thanks!

Hey thanks guys. OK, I think I'm going to just order the OEM ones. No point installing alternatives if there's no benefit or it's going to cause me trouble later. See you guys this fri! I should be attending

Anybody can recommend me the type of clutch housing to use on my 1098s, get it from ebay or which shop in local, what is the brand ? I got the pressure plate but need to change the stock housing to aftermarket. What are the servicing must be done on 12k & 24k interval ?

Once again, i need some advice. Thanks. =)

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.
