wow! just from the picture u can tell quite a few things.. i din even know that is a 998 fairing.. the red frame is not that impressive if u look up close.. how do i adjust the steering damper.. doesnt seem to have any adjustment knobs.. the seat wise, most prob i fabricate one just like the orginal one seater.. later i will post a few more pics that is painful to my eyes.. haha..

Crossover. What did you mean when you said some parts dont be right at place?

For the steering, did you try adjusting the steering damper?

I already see quite a few very expensive items fitted to your 916

1) 5 spoke marchesini wheels which were sprayed black

2) ohlins suspension

3) 998 fairing with the bellypan

4) carbon mudguard

5) red frame! Very ex to disassemble and respray

6) carbon airbox

Put together its quite costly

If you want some subtle changes, i recommend a new windscreen, exhaust, some decals on your fairing, a new clutch cover/pressure plate and maybe a monoposto conversion (or you can retrim the passenger seat to red). Then you're all set

As long as the mechanicals are ok you should be a happy camper

Crossover. Looks like the bike has accident damage from a right side fall which explains the welding and repair marks on the right of your bike. The fact that you have the 998 fairing (new fairing) kind of confirms this. For a fall to be able to cause that kind of damage to the bike to require welds to the exhaust, i dunno, it sounds pretty bad. Usually with lower speed falls the footpegs, handlebars, fairing, and maybe the clutch cover take the damage. He might have bent the frame too. Which might explain why the frame was also resprayed (probably after it was repaired). I'm guessing damage to the frame and exhaust means a higher speed fall

For the brake disc, they are probably cast iron rotors, I had em on my old monster too. They rust very quickly when making contact with water but one brake application while the bike is moving should clear it immediately. They have nice brake feel compared to standard stainless rotors. be careful when riding in wet weather though

The radiator looks normal. So is the kink at the end of the sidestand.

IMO the ducati sidestand is flawed. It looks ugly and causes the bike to lean over way too much. You can get extended, straight, billet sidestands aftermarket. I changed mine too. It feels much better to have the bike sitting more upright IMO

I bought mine here in gold. They are a great online store for aftermarket parts: http://www.gothamcycles.com/servlet/the-4505/Ducati-Billet-Kickstand-Side/Detail

For the monoposto seat, if possible i recommend getting one on ebay. Will cost you less money and it will be original, rather than if you fabricate one yourself.

oh yah, last of all, for the steering damper. On the left side there is a small gold (should be gold) knob which you can turn. You can see it in the picture in my signature. Turning the knob such that it turns away from you should make it softer. Turn it all the way to the end and see if the steering feels lighter. In case i got the direction wrong, if it becomes super difficult to turn the bike after that, turn it all the way to the other end. LOL

I should also add. Those front forks you got, they dont look like 'ducati ohlins' forks, like the one on my bike. From the caliper mounts I'm pretty sure that they are in fact aftermarket Ohlins FGRT (Road & Track) forks. This is top end stuff and light years ahead of the ohlins forks which ducati supplies. I think the fronts alone cost nearly 2K USD. So basically if the engine is still sweet i still think you got a great bike.

Looks great! This one can consider 916 Evo liao..... It has evolved quite abit from the original 916 with all the good stuff! Hope the mechnicals are good.

You're definitely right about that. The bike may have had a crash, maybe even a bad one, but by and large i think it came out even better than before

wah.. so sad to know it had went down before..

but its ok.. the fun is in restoring it and attempting to track it.. hehe..

going to look for a used full system exhaust and aftermarket damper.. my damper is stock, so dont think i can adjust them..

the forks looks to be the same as yours.. how different is the caliper mounting from yours? i cant really see the difference..

means more work for me to do.. haha.. already surfing ebay to check for parts..

Congrats! You have megabucks forks! Get fesa to take a pic and upload to the bling collection he put up earlier haha

And another congrats! I just confirmed your discs are indeed cast iron. Compared them with my old monster picture and the rotors match!
