Just curious, in my research when I was thinking of the 996s....

A 996 makes abt 125 bhp and a 03 999 makes abt 126 bhp range.

 

I've read and came across done up 996 which makes abt 150~160 bhp!!!

Just a thought....

Have an article where they pitted a derestricted 999R with full Termi system and associated EPROM chip for a total of 148RWHP (10 up on standard), up against a bone stock GSXR1000K5.

 

It lost out to the stock K5 on lap time by just about over 0.1 sec. Pretty close. Guess the race chassis and suspension makes up for the weight and power disadvantage...

 

 

 

Anyway, update on my friend's 999. Turned out to be a battery problem. Probably connection or charge prob. After refitting the connections and charging the batt, the thing works like a charm. Tacho and LED back online.

recently on a trip to M'sia and only managed to reach 200kph

 

the last time i recalled you reached 240kph eh?

 

maybe if i shed 20kg of fats the duke will reach 270kph

Any tips on starting Superbikes when hot? I find I have to trottle alittle for the engine to catch, but it sometimes just cranks very weakly, giving all sorts of wierd sounds (pop, kank, BANG~! )....

 

Anyway, my bike now does 17.9km/litre, mostly street riding, 1/4 highway riding 90km/h on 5th gear.

Hmmm.... It shouldn't be hard to start when it is hot and warmed up?!?!

I park it for two days, and without even using choke it cranks two revs and catches.

 

When hot, its kinda a luck thing, sometimes it starts, sometimes it doesn't.

Should be the other way around.

Sounds like bad tuning if the battery is new and all the contacts are cleaned up.

I think the choke is not a choke, it's more like a fanciful way of opening the throttle instead.

Bring it back and get it solved sinc u paid good $$$ for it.

I think its the battery, cos i start and stopped the bike several times within a short period of time to clear the customs, the battery might not have enough time to recover.

 

I'd remove it to charge it over the week since I'll not be riding it. If only I can use a battery tender in my carpark...

I parked it for three weeks and it started without much effort. However it felt less reluctent to start just after you hit the kill switch. Is it a problem or it's just like that?
