Hi to Phantom Riders, recently got my 2B and a 8 years old TA200 and loving every moments of it..The bike is mainly used in the nite for prata nites and biker frzs nite meet up as I have another personal transport to work in the day..Would like to ask whether is it worthwhile to renew the Coe for 5/10 years? In terms of reliability, can our TA200 last another decade and will spare parts still be available then? I am a big size guy and really enjoyed riding TA200 and it also gives acceptable fuel consumption, cheap servicing and Maintainance..any advice, fellow phantom riders? Thanks in advance!

yes the phantom is definitely reliable. just renew it for 10 years, even if you decide to change your mind later, you can simply cancel off the coe and get your money back. don't renew for just 5 years! it would be a waste...

glad that you are enjoying your phantom

Hi. Anybody know how to fix torn seat? Or any place that I can fix? Thanks for the input!!!

sounds like you would need to rewrap your seat... try eugene saddlery along jalan besar, near the junction with kitchener road. keep a look out on your right hand side

one major question for all.

phantom ta200 carburettor. the fuel/air screw is the one on the left side, facing left. turning it in (clockwise) means leaner? or turning it out (anti clockwise) means leaner?

people here and there have been telling me both ways, very confused. my phantom is overheating, and i realised it's turned all the way in. so i turned it 1/4 out (anti clockwise) which helped abit with the overheating issue.

Turn out = more air, leaner.

Screw it all the way in = Max fuel, richest

Usually leaner will be hotter, don't understand why yours is the other way around.

yeah, left side one, facing left. confirm is the fuel/air mixture screw. there's also an air screw on the underside right?

guys, my bike have a very slow pickup...i do not want a quick pickup but just abit more smoother will be great..what should i do? and my max speed is decreasing. it use to be able to max 140-150km very easily but after regular servicing, i notice that i have a tough time reaching 130km... do you guys know what can go wrong?

right, i think is should just post my bike issues for all to better understand.

nothing majorly wrong with it, still runs fine, just puzzled.

so with my fuel air screw turned all the way in, meaning its riched out, i took the spark plug for a check.

it's clean as heck. the tip of the spark plug is white, but the thread area on the screw portion is abit black.

this means its too lean right?

hi guys, erm recently i been lookin at how ppl clean up their chain with a toothbrush + WD 40 and lubri it with a chain lubricant ltr...issit o if i Did the same thing to my phamton? of is there anything i should change? like avoid using WD 40 or etc?

Posted

wd 40 you can use. but there are some reports that it will eat into the chain rollers.

instead of wd40, you can use kerosene or petrol.

personally, i use newspaper to just rub along the chain and spray on the new lube.

lube comes in many types, thin/thick clear/white. up to you if you like clear thin coating or thick sticky coating.

i use bel ray superclean chain lube. white like sperm. i like it.

recently when i open throttle above gear 3, there's this ling ling sound which i hear from (dunno which specific location)...and when i close throttle there's no more of such sound...it happens with or without warmup of the bike and only more "sounding" upon gear 3 and above...quite bothered about it :(

Last time I also have, until I changed keys.

Turns out my bunch of keys were jingling on the left of my engine cover, after changing to single key, no such sounds any more. :)

To be frank the sound is not exactly ling ling...but...wa dunno how to describe

I don't thnk it's my keys leh, changed to 1 key still the same. I was thinking of my chain but the tension is correct leh...mayb cam chain tensioner??

But I'm pretty sure it only occurs when I throttle...
