hi. does anyone know the rough prices for a rain cover? would a 120 x 220cm rain cover fit? checked out the dimensions and it seems to be a little short. perhaps someone can advice on a more appropriate size?

I have just had my 2005 Phantom 200cc engine rebuilt, due to major damage caused by lack of oil.

Prior to arriving at the garage to have the oil changed and some noises diagnosed, I had checked the oil level and it was fine when measured with the bike upright and dipstick loose (not screwed in, the way described in the manual.

The mechanic first drained the oil to find the sump almost empty and diagnosed serious top end damage, which upon stripping the bike proved very severe. The rockers having almost worn to nothing and the camshaft with 5mm groves in it, puzzling since I checked the oil before almost every trip.

Today I went to collect the bike and pay the 13,000baht bill and as a safety precaution had the dipstick sprayed white, so that the oil level would show more clearly and avoid possible reading errors. When I checked the level with the correct 1 litre in the sump, it measured 2cm above the maximum level, but by setting the bike on it's side stand, I remeasured to find the level on the dipstick correct.

So either my bike has the wrong dipstick fitted, or it should be measured loose, but on it's side stand.

Anyone else found this?

Bro, I finally fixed a new signal relay.. sadly the signals still dead... I can't seem to see a fuse for the signal relay so I'm really hoping it is blown fuse.. Any idea where to find the signal fuse? Sorry to bother you again.. :s

No thr is no signal fuse. All the wiring is in the headlight. If u dare, can open it up and see if got any burnt or broken wiring. IIRC the signal wires are in orange, green and light blue colors.

It is also mentioned in the manual that you need to start the bike and idle for 1 min and then switch off and take the reading without screwing and bike upright. Did you do it exactly this way? If you did then 1L will be exactly the top mark in the dipstick. Another reason could be your bike has slight more eo i.e. 1.2L, generally after an overhaul, you need to overfill the EO, by a bit. Ask your mechanic again how much EO did he fill.

I would say, dont worry so much, just stick to whatever method you are using to measure, make sure that using the same method and everything else being equal, the EO level doesnt reduce over time, before that making sure you put 1L in it, during subsequent oil changes.

Thanks naim! I opened the headlight to check like you said, and everything seems fine... But miracle!! After fiddling with those wires in the headlight the signals came back to life again!! Thanks!!! :)

Hi bros, today I realized the pipe under my bike looks filled with petrol, is it possible that is the reason why my bike engine sometimes die after stopping at sloped traffic lights? Should I drain it or leave it alone?

I'm not sure what it is.. there's another shorter tube behind the right front chrome cover.. Looks full too with what looks like dirt at the bottom.. should I clear this too?

If you stay in the East, go to ubi. The row of shops beside Traffic police HQ, one of them is facing the road, first one. You won't miss it, there's sample number plates hanging all over.

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

Hey bros,

This is totally noobish but i think my speedo not accurate at all.

May i know what's the speed range for each of the gears?

With that information it's easily to keep myself within speed limit than to look at the speedo everytime.

Dear Riders,

Would like to seek your kind advice for some problems which I'm facing currently:

My very old Honda Phantom TA200 just finished a pretty major servicing at Ah Chong's Planet Motors recently to change the gearbox (changed gears 2-6), changed a few engine gaskets, changed cam-chain-tensioner, spark plug, engine oil.

However after that, I realised that my bike will backfire often when closing throttle (e.g. when stopping or even every time I change gear). This happens more often when the engine is hot, i.e. that means there is no backfire for the first 5-10mins of riding, but it will start after that. I can reduce it a little by trying to close throttle slower and by controlling clutch, but it will still happen abit. The backfire is not very loud, more like a soft pop/cough sound.

I also realise that the throttle feels very spongy and no power at higher RPMs. i.e. when changing gear the initial pickup is okay, but when get to cruising RPM at 6th gear, really no power. I can change to 6th gear and only get 70kmph (!) at a low RPM (i.e. engine not stalling, clutch properly engaged).

Based on some readings, I suspect that the problem is that my fuel-air mixture is too rich. And I would like to tweak by adjusting the carburetor. But unfortunately I can't find any info on it anywhere on the forum/internet after searching for quite a long time. Can anyone please help me?

Thank you very much.
