Work out your budget. If your budget permit, then can consider

- Honda Super 4

- Suzuki Bandit 400cc (if you can get a decent condition)

- DRZ

i doubt there's many 2a bikes (if any) which can surpass a 2b in terms of maintenance and fc..

likewise a 2a boasts increased capabilities and better features..

it all boils down to how much u value that extra safety, handling, acceleration..etc.

so really, its pretty simple to me, can comfortably afford then get the bigger bike, cannot afford then stick to 2b lor..

baby, u're my love..

abit tough for ur choice leh. How to have gd pick up and also above average fc?

The best fc bike I got b4 was the Yamaha x1r. 50km/L. Very cheap to maintain, problem free tho I got it brand new. Pick up sucks! wid pillon even worse.

S4 only ride b4 at ssdc, not much comment. But its famous for its reliablity n not bad fc.

But if ur bike for transport only, also need to put box n have gd compartment. choices are gilera, x9, sw400, burgman, etc. but den when the auto scooter is new, still easy to maintain, as it gets older, alot things to replace den the manual bikes. the transmission side is very headache one.

den the pulsar, ybr, wave, 4t cupkia all very underpower. think s4 have the best of everything. but den, spec 1 still gg to cost u 4-5k. spec 3 ard 7-9k, revo is so ex might as well get the brand new one. also got gsr400. but den trust me, get ur cl2 den decide. u'll be spoilt for choices. but I think most of the cl2 riders at the end downgrade to s4 at the end of the day. its a cute bike I think.

I LOVE my R1!!!:shades:

DRZ-SM.

Reliable, light weight, good fuel consumption, good power, good acceleration, low maintenance, tons and tons of aftermarket parts available.

With an upright ridin position, it is perfect for transport purposes. Not to mention that it allows you to try some supermoto fun if you ever decide to explore the sports.

But what do I know? I am biased towards thumpers...

i think you should go for 250cc scooter. transportation wise, lots of storage space to put your stuff and raingear in case it rains. fairly easy to maintain, fuel consumption is fairly good.. scooters have good pick up..

just my 2 cents worth. can go scooter section to find out more if you are interested.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

actually i think a 250cc will suit your needs well. more powered than typically 2b 4 stroke bikes yet not as pricey in maintaining when compared to the 400cc.

you said you want above average fuel consumption.... but what is average to you? some might be happy when they get 20km/l but some will want their bike to go till 30-40km/l. so what mileage are you clicking every month and how much are you willing to spend on petrol monthly? how much do you wanna spend on the bike?

Redir,

I guess if you ask for opinion in the forum, out of 10 ppl who response, you are going to get 10 different answers / opinions. I suggest you seat down with someone who has been riding for a few years and discuss it. Most importantly, work out what you can afford every month comfortably and what do you expect your new ride can do for you. If you compare the cost of owning your current bike, then for sure the cost of a bigger bike is going to cost more. Alternatively, do spend sometime and do your window shopping at bike shops and clarify some of your doubts. Of course, the bike shop guys will convince you into signing the dotted line. Do ensure that you do your "homework" before signing that dotted line.

Halo Radir,

If you really want to know! it is best if you stick to your 2b bike, why?it is because ,you are using for commuting in singapore, furtehrmore cost of upgrading 2a maintenance wise is more like 3 times more compared to ur 2bike.and btw a break down bike is always a neglected umaintained bike.but if have flair for riding and have a constant savings, then i can see why not,dun listen to much on wat bike is best, just go for wat u tink ur heart likes.none can beat to that.

cheers:thumb:

just wld like to know...

for DRZ, whats the probability of the tube tires punctured whilst riding in Spore? (dun want to park the bike one side since tires got punctured as bike unable to ride unlike bike with tubeless tires which able to move in slow speed even got punctured)

or should i put it like this.... whats the stats of tube tires got punctured in Spore?...

any difference of probability of class 2B with tube tires got punctured (eg:- derbi 125) with class 2A (drz sm) or class 2 (African Twin)?

does the class size of bikes makes any diff in gettting more prone of puncturing the tube tires?

Bro Redir ,if about tyre puntures all i can say it depends on luck, even a good tubeless tyres can give way if the nail is sunken into the tyres .it's is also how well you noe a road surface, where nails, sharp objects are always present "road near construction site" which will always give you a higher chance at punturing those rubbers.

Well, I mean realistically, it is Singapore. What are the chances of getting a puncture on our roads. It's really very very slim. If you only intend to ride it here I don't really think you should be too paranoid about punctures.

Most XR4s on the roads are kick start only. There is a supermotard version called XR400SM which is electric start, but these are imported in very limted numbers. All of them use tubes.

No, you cannot simply change to sports rims. This requires serious modifications to the wheels, and is not recommended for obvious reasons.

I have been riding bikes on tube tires for many years, and have only had 2 punctures in 15 years. Therefore I think your fears of punctures maybe unfounded.
