Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my brake rotors but have absolutely no clue to which brands I should buy. Can I get some input from those who are using aftermarket brake rotors and from where in Singapore did you purchase them. Did some calculation and realised that it's not very worthwhile buying online taken into consideration the conversion rate, shipping fee as well as the high potential of paying 7% gst (no offense sharul).

Been doing some reading and still I cannot come to any decision.

Need your advices pls.

Thanks!

Guys, was just wondering if a brake rotor on a gen 2 busa can fit a gen 1 busa? Advance thanks for your responses.

I asked this before.

It can't as gen 2 brake rotors are smaller in diameter.

Correct me if im wrong

As long mounting point are the same why not ?

If is bigger is even better, all you need are slightly longer spacers for the calipers ... small issues. :p

For braking improvements or for asthetics + performance ?

Actually you don't need to go one big round spending extra to get it works.

Load in steel braided hoses linked in series and change high temp brake pads and it done.

Make sure you use high pressure high temp brake fluids as well. :p

You don't even need brembo masterpump, having one is good and run the lines in parallel.

You can take that as stage 2 enhancement.

Try the cheapest and it might already meets your desire.

I've bought my front pair of ebc brake rotors wayyyy cheaper then distributers here. Even with the 7% gst.

Call them up they are asking for$ 900+ per pair.

Hey NA, for improvements. Asthetics, can't be bothered too much. I treasure practicality over beauty.

Already have steel braided hoses installed on my bike. Brake pads wise, will be changing to EBC HH pads (as I don't ride daily so I'm not bothered by the quick consumption rate.)

High temperature brake fluids meanings DOT 5 or DOT 4? Understand that DOT 5 brake fluid have got a higher boiling point as compared to DOT 4. Is that what you're suggesting?

Pls pardon my ignorance but you mentioned having to run the lines in parallel. Do you mean running the steel braided hoses parallel to the masterpump? I recently acquired a Brembo master pump from another forumer so that will be installed on my bike.

Recently I had a scary experience and that led me to be on MC for 1 month. It is now that I realised that safety on a bike is paramount hence I would spend at all cost on upgrading my braking system.

That's why I need the experts here to give me your insights and inputs on what to upgrade and how's the best possible way to do it.

Thanks all.

I added 2x EBC XC Contours front + 1x EBC rear rotors in the cart from pushnit website and the cost amounts to USD$589.69. So after a conversion rate assuming 1.3 (conservative), SGD price will be $766.59. Then we add another 7% gst, the total amount will add up to SGD$820.25.

There's still installation cost of to think about which I think it's about $50-$80. So all in is about $900.25 (based on an estimate calculation). Motorworld quoted $1000 for 2 fronts & 1 rear galfer + installation.

IMO, the saving is really marginal so I'd rather buy from Singapore.

Thing now is which is the best recommendation amongst all the brands here.

All u listed is a reputable brands so u have to decide urself.

U have not include brake pads bro.

For me, I will install at jb. That would be rm40 at most. Installation for both disc and pads.

I do agree, the marginal Difference. That difference I use to buy gipro indicator with installation.

So on the price for galfer. I get disc, pads and gear indicator. Hrm. . . . .

yes pashnit he gave good reviews about the 200-55 tires also.

diff rotor/pad combination will give different bite/fade/pressure properties

imho any of the more reputable brands will suffice for quite a long time especially when you dun always ride, most of them stainless steel. unless cast iron/carbon rotors which is a diff story. diff rotor/pad combination will give different bite/fade/pressure properties.

i'd say go for the wave rotors with the best price, for cosmetic purposes haha...

thanks for the input bro. But can I ask, what's the difference between a stainless steel, cast iron and carbon rotor? I do think that price is one main difference and honestly, I have no idea on the difference in price. Can you advise?

Any recommendation? Or for this matter brands to introduce for consideration?

Seems to me EBC is the pad of choice for most of you guys here. I understand that EBC has alot of different types of pads.

Do you guys mind explaining to me each one of them? I newbie lah.

Even my first pad change i use normal cheapo one for $25/each (MR brand). Now regret cus got the freaking "eeeeeeeee" sound. Lol!

Hi Kelvin,

Don't think you will need to change the rotor if your original is still okay or in spec. Just change to sinister brake pad will do. Changing to aftermarket rotor of same steel material will give liitle to zero increase in braking power.

Posted
according to a mechanic high temp brake pads usually gives out the eeeeeeee sound..

is it true?

btw i ask for EBC sintered hh brake pads..

Erm did you do a proper brake pad bedding in? I have used EBC HH on my other bikes before. Actually so far I never encountered any "eeeeeeee" sound before. Maybe I am lucky. Could it be the brake pad clip touching the rotor?
